Fast Paced - Action Driven -Romantic Suspense I received a complimentary copy of this book as a part of a book tour in exchange for a fair and honest review. I rated it 4 out of 5 stars. An action packed romantic suspense, Battle-Tested Love by Lynda Bailey is the second book in the Battle for Love series. Well developed characters, a fast pace and good dialogue kept me turning the pages to discover what would happen next. Just the right amount of romance and sexual tension, make this a book any romance lover would enjoy. Planning her girlfriend’s bachelorette party, Darcy Williams heads to a questionable part of town to make arrangements at a popular strip club. Mistakenly approaching a man in the alley, thinking he’s the owner of the club, Darcy soon finds herself the kidnap victim of a dangerous looking stranger. Almost being shoved in the trunk of her own car is just the icing on her bad day. Ben Gallagher never realized he’d be thrown in jail for attempting to get justice against his sister’s attacker. Breaking free from the prison fire brigade, Ben needs clothes, money and a quick way out of town to get back to help his sister. He never planned on kidnapping a woman and stealing her car. The scenes between Darcy and Ben are full of lively dialogue, plenty of action and a healthy dose of sexual chemistry. Attracted to each other from the start, they begin their adventure on opposite sides but eventually end up working together. As Darcy and Ben spend more time together, they find themselves in danger, dodging the police and attempting to make it to his sister’s side before anything else can go wrong. Ms. Bailey does a good job developing both of their characters; while Ben’s actions at the start are not good, it’s evident he’s caught between a rock and a hard place and trying to rescue a sister he feels responsible for. Will Darcy and Ben make it in time to help his sister avoid more danger? Will Ben be able to prove he should never have been imprisoned to begin with? You’ll have to read Battle-Tested Love to find out. I enjoyed it and I think you will too. While it is a part of a series, I was able to read and enjoy it without reading the previous book.
*4.5 Stars* Battle-Tested Love is one of those stories you just want to savor slowly because it's so good you don't want it to end. I have nothing, but love for this book. Darcy Williams never intended on getting kidnapped when she decided to go on a little adventure to Quarry Pit, a strip club, to plan a friend's bachelorette party. However, that's exactly what happens. Left without much choice, Ben carjacks Darcy's car and kidnaps her as a last resort in his effort to get to his sister, Ana. What follows is a scary, thrilling, and dangerous journey for the both of them. During the flight from Carson City, NV to Bend, OR, the two must stay one step ahead of law enforcement as Ben is a wanted man and Darcy is a now a 'missing person'. However, when Ben saves Darcy from a group of thugs after trying to escape she realizes that Ben is a good man. He's loyal and protective and she'll do her best to help him get to his sister, but danger surrounds them at every turn as they get closer to Ana. Wow. Battle-Tested Love was unbelievably good. This book grabbed me from the very beginning from the opening scene in the alley to the very last page in the municipal courtroom of Carson City's courthouse. What a thrill ride this book was. I loved the characters, the plot and the writing. There were a few typos that I noticed, but it wasn't anything major that deterred me from the story. Furthermore, Battle-Tested Love would have easily been a five star read for me except due to the lack of an epilogue I had to push down the rating a bit because I felt like the ending needed a bit more. I would have loved an epilogue just to extend the story a little further. I had no issues with how the story ended; I admit it was pretty great. I even got teary-eyed, but I would have loved to get the chance to glance more into the future lives of Darcy and Ben as well as Ana. With everything that they've been through especially Darcy and Ben, it would have been great to see more of their happily-ever-after. Overall, Battle-Tested Love was a fantastic story filled with action, suspense, romance and danger that will have you on the edge of your seat. Without a doubt, Ms. Bailey has delivered a nail biter and page turner with Battle-Tested Love. I'm excited to discover this new-to-me author and will be hunting down Lynda Bailey's backlist! Battle-Tested Love gets a highly recommend from me. *I received a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
