Be My Alien is a purr-fectly delightful sci-fi romance novella. It’s a quick read as the author keeps the story flowing constantly, which kept me entertained and engaged without feeling as though I was being rushed through Reed and Taz’s story. Within just the first few pages I found myself cringing at Taz’s predicament – being used as a pawn to make another man jealous, he finds himself stranded with no money, no clothes, and nowhere to go. Choosing to remain at their sight-seeing destination – the Empire State Building – he ends up getting knocked down by some pushy tourists, talk about kicking a guy when he’s down. Yet his lesson in gravity proves to be quite fortuitous when he lands on Reed, literally. Reed, being the nice guy he is, takes it upon himself to invite Taz out for a quick bite to eat. But his invite isn’t entirely altruistic as he finds himself attracted to Taz, something that hasn’t happened in far too long. Over their very brief meal, one thing leads to another and Reed is inviting Taz back to his place. The scenes that follow are both hilarious and hot as heck when Reed discovers that Taz isn’t quite what he seems and that there are some very stimulating benefits to having an alien lover. As this is a novella, the claims of love are made rather quickly but this was not too surprising as Taz is on a travel schedule – one he is ready to throw out in order to remain on Earth with Reed. What I did not expect was the sequence of events that occurred when Vorlod (aka jerk-face user) shows back up. I found myself flying through the remainder of the book so I could find out how the situation was resolved. Thankfully, Ms. Church didn’t keep me waiting on bated breath too long and gave me a wonderful ending to this installment as well as a great setup for the next book in the series. I enjoyed Be My Alien and have added Be My Human to my to-be read list so that I can find out what the future holds for Taz and Reed. I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!
