Overview

Marc Polinski is known for having fun, always smiling, and being a third wheel for his friends, Noah and Meredith. A rare one night stand at a Halloween party and running into the woman again sets Marc on a path of no return. He can't walk away from her, even if he wanted to, and he absolutely doesn't want to do that.

Elizabeth Boyd hasn't dated in a long time and if it wasn't for her sister-in-law, she wouldn't have been pushed toward the seemingly bad idea of Marc Polinski. She's not sure she wants to date, but she can't seem to turn Marc down either. Little by little, she lets Marc wiggle past all of her defenses.

Their relationship is rocky from the start, and with both of them having demons and secrets, things between them are a struggle. Will they be able to overcome their pasts, let each other in, and start building a life together or will they find they were doomed from the start?

Lindsay Paige scored again with BECAUSE IT'S YOU the second book from the Carolina Rebels series. I have been looking forward to hearing Marc Polinski’s and Elizabeth Boyd’s story since the first book, BACK TO ME. The story starts off at the Halloween party from book one and takes place around the same time frame. I loved hearing the story for both Marc’s and Lizzy’s point of views. Both characters are well-developed and complex. They have amazing chemistry and are likeable. They have multiple issues in their past that make their relationship challenging. My heart went out to both characters. I’m glad Lizzy has Sylvia and Scott. Elizabeth is the widow of Scott’s brother, Roger. She has had a difficult time dealing with his death even though it has been close to six years since he past. Sylvia decides to set her up with Scott’s Carolina Rebels NHL teammate, Marc Polinski. Despite all their issues and secrets, the two start to see each other, eventually healing one another in the process. They are perfect for each other. I love Marc. He has a huge heart. He had a difficult childhood that still haunts him, although you would never guess it from his typically happy personality. I think it’s great that his friends call him Marco Polo because of his last name. I enjoyed how they always say Marco Polo to each other. Elizabeth is sweet and has carried many burdens. I love how the couple opens-up to one another. The plot was amazing with tons of interesting twists. BECAUSE IT'S YOU was skillfully written and flowed well. The hockey scenes were credible and exciting. The story was heartfelt. There were unexpected thrilling turns of events. The story had everything you could want in a sports romance. I cannot wait for the next book in the series US AT FIRST. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Because It's You is the second book in Lindsay Paige's Carolina Rebels series, which is a great hockey romance series that I would recommend. This book features the ever-so-confident Marc Polinski who is obsessed with a girl he met at a team Halloween party and Elizabeth Boyd, who hasn't dated in awhile and doesn't know what came over her during Halloween. In this book, Noah and Meredith makes appearances and we also meet more team members, including Ian, who will be featured in Carolina Rebels #2.5. When Elizabeth's sister-in-law sets the two up in a desperate attempt to get Elizabeth dating again, their instant chemistry that had ignited from Halloween bubbles over and Marc falls for her quickly. Throughout the story, Elizabeth's past haunts her, preventing her from giving into her true feelings for Marc. She's so scared to trust him and let herself be loved and he's so sure that he is exactly what she needs. Lindsay's writing always tugs at my heartstrings, so I love reading her books to get caught up in the poignant emotions of her stories. This book was no exception, although Elizabeth was difficult to like, at first. Her story and past is reveal as the novel goes on and with each new reveal, her character becomes more likable and more understood. However, Marc is unfailing in his love and faith for Elizabeth and the metaphorical mountains that he climbs for her makes me swoon for him all over again. I loved Noah, but Marc is now my new favorite Rebel. I love all of Lindsay's books and highly recommend her writing to anyone. This series is refreshingly real and honest that I truly enjoyed each Carolina Rebel novel and look forward to the future books in this series! *I received a free Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my honest thoughts/opinions of the author's book.*

I totally fell in love with Marc in Back To Me so I was looking froward to this book from the moment I found out it was being written. I was not disappointed. I totally love Marc even more in this book. He is so sweet and still funny but not annoyingly funny. I hope that makes sense. I thought Elizabeth was a little annoying at first but the more I found out about her past the more it made sense. I really ended up loving her too. She was standoffish with Marc and did not want anything to do with him but he broke her walls down. Both Marc and Elizabeth had messed up pasts and I am happy that it took them a while to work through it. While there was instant attraction they still worked hard to figure everything out. If recommend this book to anyone to anyone that wants a good, sweet read. There are some rough moments but this book is really good. I am giving it 4.5 stars out if 5.
