Between Marriage and Merger is a fake engagement/office romance which is part of Karen Booth’s Locke Legacy series. The series focuses on three siblings who are involved in the real estate business and own a hotel. Over the last year or so, Noah Locke (the middle child) has watched his older brother Sawyer and younger sister Charlotte meet, fall in love, marry, and start families with the love of their lives. While it’s something he wants to have, a part of of him doesn’t think he is capable of or deserving of love. While he isn’t overly crazy about it, he’s okay with being the playboy of the Locke family. That is, until some unwanted media attention jeopardizes a multi-million dollar deal for Locke and Locke. In a PR move to appease a potential business partner and put Noah in a more favorable light, Charlotte suggests that Noah and the company’s executive assistant, Lily Foster, pose as an engaged couple for a weekend wedding. The thought is that if Lyle Hannafort and his wife Marcy see that Noah is engaged and on his way to being a family man, it won’t make Hannafort Hotels look bad and the deal will be back on. However, no one expects a simple fake engagement to get out of hand. After being left at the altar, Lily isn’t a big fan of weddings. But posing as Noah’s fiancée allows her to set up a nice nest egg for herself and spend quality time with Noah, who she’s been attracted to since she started working for the company. To both of their surprise, Noah and Lily each have feelings for one another. But making sure their hearts don’t get involved is going to be even trickier then either expected. My heart ached for Noah who at times, seemed to be lost in the family dynamic. While his feelings for Lily were very real, Sawyer consistently insisted that he stay away from her. I will admit that my dislike for Sawyer was at an all-time high with this book. When faced with the question of Lily’s loyalty to Locke and Locke I loved that Noah never wavered in his belief of her. Between Marriage and Merger is a standalone read, but I found it was a good ending to The Locke Legacy series. **Received a copy of the book from the author and voluntarily reviewed.**

Noah and Lily...finally! I was excited to read Noah’s story to see how things between him and Lily would turn out. Both have hidden that they have had a thing for the other since Lily joined Noah and Sawyer’s business. Now with Noah in a predicament that could cost them a big business deal for the Grand Legacy hotel, Noah and his siblings concoct a plan with the help of Lily. Noah and Lily go through with a fake engagement expecting to make it through the weekend and then later say it had been called off. However they hadn’t counted on Marcy Hannafort and her wedding planning expertise. They give in to their temptations and soon realize the web they have weaved to make Noah appear less player-ish is spiraling out of their control. I looked forward to Noah’s book since he was first introduced in the Locke Legacy series. Noah and Lily have great chemistry and he has an unleashed sweetness when it comes to her.

4 1/2 STARS! Flirty and fun! With the latest book in her Locke Legacy series, Karen Booth brings us Noah and Lily's story. They are colleagues and friends and with this quick and sassy read, they become much more. The characters are easy to like, the story is fast-paced and the happily ever after is oh so sweet. Noah Locke might like romancing the ladies, but at least he's honest with what he's offering and makes no promises of a future. When a scandal hits the tabloids that has the potential to derail the biggest deal of his life, he scrambles to come up with a way to counteract the damage. An instant fiancee just might do the trick! Lily Foster has worked for Noah and his siblings for two years and has impressed them on a daily basis. She's sharp, she's organized, she's an all around dynamo! When they approach her about accompanying them on a business trip and pretending to be Noah's fiancee, she's reluctant because of how attracted she has always been to him, but if it means securing herself for the future, she can play along!
