What a great storytelling technique this author has! A vibrant adventure filled with elves, werewolves, dwarfs and even lowly humans. Characters come to life with the smart writing of Katrina Joyner. This is a rollicking tale of human strength and weakness and the ties of blood, loyalty and morality all wrapped up in a fantastic adventure. Listen to the beautiful voice of the writer: “He travelled light, down into the bowels of the mountain. Underground highways that had been built for generations crisscrossed not only his mountain, but miles around the area and even into other mountains. It was like a giant ant mound, dwarves often said proudly if called upon to talk about their homes….’’ And…. “Whispers of dark things that lurked in the shadows…” “Raori heard the explosion, felt it vibrating through the ground. He paused in his work, reached with his mind, searching……” “The lad nodded, perspiration beading on his brow. His fingers moved faster than lightening, creating cat cradles and lady feathers, sustaining levitation spells and bindings.” This is a fun and entertaining read that will capture your imagination and take it on a journey into the intriguing worlds of Black Wolf, Silver Fox and create visual images that will stay impressed upon your mind as if they really do exist. Such a well written novel deserves every one of its five star rating. PS. Everyone should check out this author’s artwork – it’s absolutely incredible.

I can't recommend this novel enough, and I am notoriously difficult to please! This is an extremely well-written book, with tight, well-paced action, deep and compelling characters, an imaginative story, and detailed yet unobtrusive description. It will capture your imagination and weave itself into your dreams. _Black Wolf, Silver Fox_ truly holds its own among the more well-known fantasy novels. I wish the editor had been a little better, but beyond that, this is a deliciously stunning and impressive debut. This book is truly unforgettable, and I can't wait until this author publishes more of her work!!!!!

Katrina Joyner, a new author that I have come across in my readings, has debuted with a book that will undoubtedly promote her to being one of the best fantasy authors of the 21st century. Her book Black Wolf, Silver Fox, introduces us to a band of fighters known as the Six, controlled by a madman. The book throws us into the middle of things, promising excitement and delivering it with plenty to spare, leaving the reader praying for a sequel. The plot is engaging, and the characters are the sorts of dark, yet romantic characters that make a story such as this believable. After reading the book, one gets the feeling that you have not read a short work of fiction, but experienced and felt a part of actual history. To me, any book that has the power to do so is an awesome book. Fantasy nuts will want to drop their copy of Wizards of the Coast Monthly and pick a copy of this book before the author moves on and publishes the continued adventures of these rouge warriors. For those that will wait for the movie, you have cheated yourselves out of one of the best reads you will ever have.
