Once burned...

Finding my fiancée naked on my couch might've been a good thing, if her ex-boyfriend hadn't been with her. For the past eight years I've been a witness to the power of true love, but after getting burned I'd decided there wasn't any hope for me finding it for myself. Once burned...

Finding my fiancée naked on my couch might've been a good thing, if her ex-boyfriend hadn't been with her. For the past eight years I've been a witness to the power of true love, but after getting burned I'd decided there wasn't any hope for me finding it for myself. Until I met Noelle Brandt in a hotel bar. Maybe it wasn't the most romantic meeting, but the moment I met her I knew I had to have her. The more I learn about her, the more I know I'll do whatever it takes to keep her.

Twice shy...

I'd already found the love of my life, but I'd lost that love forever. And I'd been lost ever since. But one night a wounded man makes all of that go away. He makes me laugh, live, and feel alive. When he tells me he has no intention of letting me go, I finally begin to believe in the power of true love again. That is, until I find out who he really is...and by then, it's far too late to correct the mistakes we've already made. By the time we both know the truth, the lines have already been blurred beyond recognition.

The Out of Line Series has to be one of my favorite ever, and I was so glad to read Riley’s story. Carrie and Finn were amazing characters who found their happily ever after, and it was about time Riley found his. I will admit, though, that I didn’t like him all that much in the earlier books in the series, but, My.God. This book changed my mind completely. Charming, sexy and sweet, Riley seemed to be perfect. He had his flaws, but they stemmed more from his desire to please his family and fit a certain mold. Unfortunately, at the most critical of times, this desire overrode the most important thing in his life and he almost lost it. I wanted to dislike him for how he reacted to the situation, but, like Noelle, it was difficult staying mad at him for long. Noelle and Riley’s romance was a whirlwind of exhilaration and passion, starting off with a bang – literally – and continuing in much the same way throughout the rest of the book. They faced many ups and downs but there was no denying how amazing they were together. From total opposite sides of the spectrum, I think they were just what the other was looking for. They opened each other up to the possibilities of finding love, whether for the first time, or in Noelle’s case, for the second time around, after she had closed herself off. This book was fun, romantic and emotional – everything I’ve come to expect from the amazing Jen McLaughlin.

A Hot Must Read. I received this book for review from InkSlinger PR and from the author. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. Riley gets quite the surprise when he gets home. Noelle Brandt knows how to relax and have a good time. Their first meeting is quite interesting. And from then on be prepared to get comfortable because this is a read that will be hard to put down.  You will notice that they both seem to have a certain amount of vulnerability that makes them relatable to the reader. One thing you will notice is that Ryder has a way with words but in certain situations those words seem to get lost. If you’re going to love one character, you might want to watch out for Emily – she’s sassy and exactly the person Noelle needs in her life.   Another interesting thing I found, while reading, was Noelle’s choice of career. It had me wondering what our author used for inspiration. The author also takes the time to sneak in a life lesson about going after what you want to make you happy. She also knows the right combination that will make you laugh. This is a story that shows the reader that it’s ok to move on after losing someone special. They will always be in your heart no matter how much time has passed by but you have so much living to do – and wouldn’t it be nice to share it with someone? There are some people that feel that they don’t deserve it – but they do. I found this is one of those books where I listened to the words – they speak volumes. With the right narrator, I bet this would be a great audiobook (just sayin’). This can be read as a stand-alone or you can use it as a great incentive to go back and read the rest of the series (if you haven’t already). I think this would be a perfect book to read for Valentine’s Day but it can be read at any time of the year. You may also find that you will want to read it more then once. You cannot go wrong by adding this book to your library.

As a fan of the Out of Line series, I was really excited to get Riley's story! Now, if I'm being honest, I didn't always like Riley early on in the series. How could I? He was trying to get between Carrie and Finn and I just can't abide that. But, I also knew there was more to him than met the eye and I couldn't wait to see him get his happily ever after.  Blurred Lines is one of those books I devoured in one sitting. It was easy to swoon over Riley – except in those few moments he was being a real jerk. He was fresh out of an engagement to a woman who cheated on him when he met Noelle. Can I tell you how much I loved Noelle? She was a dirty book author! I might not write dirty books, but I enjoy reading them and that made it pretty easy for me to connect with her. She was a widow with a healthy dose of guilt and a bit of baggage. Her story hurt my heart.  It was easy to see the connection between Riley and Noelle soon after they first met. (At a hotel during an author conference! Loved it!) Sure, they kicked things off with what was intended to be a one night stand, but something with them clicked. One night wouldn't be enough with these two. Things begin to move at warp speed for them, but it worked for them. (And for me.) I really liked them together. I liked that he pushed her a bit, made her realize she could feel something again after the death of her husband. I loved how just the simplest of interactions with her made him realize what he had been missing all along – a real connection with a woman. And the passion they shared? STEAMY. One of my favorite things about this book was the reappearance of Carrie and Finn! I love these two so much – and they've been through so much together. It was great to catch up with them. I especially enjoyed how Finn became a champion for Riley. It made me swoon just a bit.  Blurred Lines could certainly be read as a standalone, but I'd still encourage readers to get the full backstory. It's all so very good – romantic, sexy and, at times, suspenseful – you'll want to read it all. This is a great series and I love how it's evolved from new adult to adult. Riley's story definitely made an excellent addition.  I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

My only complaint about this book is that it is too short. In the other books in this series, Riley came across as being a cad, a womanizer. After reading his story, he is nothing like what I imagined. I really liked his character. Normally I don't care for books that take place in just a couple of days but this one just seemed to work for me. When both Riley's and Noelle's secrets came out, I was so sad because of the heartbreak. I'm glad that things worked out for the best between them, but like I said, I just wish the book had been longer

Blurred Lines is a hauntingly spell-binding and profoundly passionate love story that once it takes root in your heart, you will never think of love the same way again. There is something to be said for living your life as if there is no tomorrow. While some may view it as impetuous or foolish, I see it as bravely taking hold of your life and capturing the blessings that would we otherwise turn away from or not even see in the first place. What would our life look like if we would truly and courageously follow our heart especially in those times when our head would have us run screaming in the opposite direction? Do we dare to even think those thoughts much less act upon them? Are you willing to allow unknown wonders and untold treasures to slip from your fingers out of fear, or will you allow yourself to experience the best that life has to offer you with no reservations? Ultimately, we must decide if we will fight for what we want, or if we will be content to let others dictate what is best for us. Noelle has had her one great love and now she has resigned herself to just existing. She lost her husband to a horrible accident, and she doesn’t believe she deserves to feel love ever again. After all, how can you find more than one soulmate in this life? Be sheer force of will, she continues to push herself to put one foot in front of the other living entirely for her career. Just when her life has reached a level of contentment that she is happy with, she finds herself thrown into a whirlwind of unanticipated emotions and life-altering surprises. Riley thought his life was finally headed in the right direction until he found it suddenly derailed. Frustrated with the overwhelming need to feel something real for once in his life, he does something completely out of character and in so doing, he finds the one woman who makes him come alive. With her, he is finally the man that he has desperately longed to be, and he has no intention of giving her up even if it kills him. In her heart, Noelle has no doubt that she and Riley are beyond perfect for each other, but it’s the annoying reminders from her head that put her relationship with Riley at its greatest risk. Can Riley finally convince Noelle to listen to the joyous music that their heart and soul make together, or will they give in to the pressures and condemning voices around them and listen to reason and logic? This story took hold of my heart from the very beginning and worked its transforming magic on it. I felt and experienced everything that these incredible characters went through. There was nothing that they felt that wasn’t mirrored within my own soul. Their desperate and intense inner battle had me pulling my own hair out because I could see myself following in their same footsteps. Everything about this journey called to me, and I couldn’t get enough of the beautiful and cautious Noelle who was completely in love with the confident and vulnerable Riley. They fought their feelings so hard, but in the end neither could deny what they had come to mean to the other. Love is simple and magnificent, but others make it difficult and frustrating. The key is to figure out who to listen to and who to set straight. This is the first book that I have read by Jen McLaughlin, and she has without a doubt stolen my heart with her absolutely unbelievable gift with words! She has lovingly molded and shaped a breathtaking and unconventional love that stands out like a beacon of light in the dark and weary storm of life. We should all heed these precious words and not allow anyone to steal our life, our hope, and our dreams from us no matter who they are. What is life worth if it is not filled with a blazing passion and an unquenchable joy?
