Pretty Claire O'Reilly is working as a maid in 1878 New York City at the grand mansion, Stanton's Settle. Her employer, Andrew Morgan-Stanton, a wealthy railroad baron, introduces the innocent Claire to the pain and pleasure of discipline and obedience and, in the end, they both find an unexpected love.

Andrew Morgan-Stanton can pay to gratify his particular tastes that combine pleasure and pain, but he’s found it unsatisfying when the enjoyment is one-sided. He’s also in need of a wife, but can’t imagine finding someone who would willingly share his sexual play. Until he meets Claire. At 18, she’s unformed, but a chance encounter kindles unexpected desires in her Andrew is eager to fulfill. One of the things I enjoy about Natasha Perry’s work is her historical settings – 1878 New York City in this case. There’s erotica for those who enjoy domestic discipline, but also a real sense of heart and humanity. Her characters feel grounded in the time period and inhabit a world that feels real.
