An intense read, and the first-person narrative really brings the protagonist to life in your head. Mickey Watts is a fascinating character - a man on the upswing in life when one bad decision starts a chain reaction of events that threatens everything he has worked so hard for. An engaging and piercing tale with a startling mid-point shift that caught me by surprise, and from there the hits kept coming as the story barreled to a climax that was both satisfying and surprising along with skillfully tying back in to the beginning of the story.
