About the Author

William "Bill" Sager is a Citygate Fire Services specialist Emeritus, with more than 50 years of fire services experience. Prior to Citygate, Chief Sager's last assignment with CAL FIRE was as the Butte Unit Chief and Butte County Fire Chief. During his career he was a Type One incident commander, active in command roles on numerous major incidents in both California and out of state. He was an incident command system instructor and course developer. Sager has authored numerous professional magazine articles as well as the chapter on Wildland Firefighting in the Fire Chief's Handbook.
