Extremely interesting. Stolen babies, cloning, seeing spitting images of yourself- would've driven me wild, making me want to get to the bottom of the story and I see why Lilly Allen had the same reaction. A terrible web was woven, Lily and her twin brother are entangled within the strands. Terri Talley Venter did a tremendous job taking us from one sinister thread to another in her quest to show how a potentially fantastic act of science, could be used to either improve or destroy life as we know it.

Life seems good for Lilly Allen. She appears to have it all—good looks, intelligence, a stellar career as a TV journalist. Not to mention a compatible and lovable twin brother Luke; also, a fiancé who appears to be every girl’s dream. But crack the smooth surface. What lies beneath? While working on two seemingly unrelated stories, one about cloning and another concerning disappearing babies--Lilly discovers in a shocking way how these relate to her own life. Why is she encountering women who resemble her? Why is her brother horrifically kidnapped? And what shocker does her mother have to reveal? Greatest shocker of all comes from fiancé Grier who happens to be acting president of a company called Create Life, involved with cloning. Terri Tally Venters makes an impressive debut with her novel Carbon Copy. The plot-driven story, culminating on a remote island in the Florida Keys, keeps you on the edge-of-your seat and provides many surprises and twists. My only complaint would be that I wanted to feel the characters more. I did find the villain “Tom-Tom” original and frightening.  I look forward to a possible sequel from this author.

They say that everyone has a doppelganger or "twin" out there somewhere, I've actually seen mine at a Culture Club Concert, but that's another story... Lilly Allen has it all, a fantastic career in New York City, a wonderful, loving boyfriend, who is also super hot and very brainy, and a caring family--despite a slightly overbearing mother. Grier Garrison has just been handed the reins to Create Life after his father suffered another heart attack, putting into motion events that threaten not only his life, his family, and his father's company, but also Lilly and her twin brother Luke. While Grier is distracted by helping his father and trying to run the company, Lilly begins to research animal cloning as part of her new work assignment. During her investigation Lilly runs into someone who looks very similar to her. When she heads down to Florida for her vacation, she sees another woman who could be her twin. Both incidents stay with Lilly even as the danger picks up around her putting her life and her family's lives in danger. Without giving away the surprises, Lilly is thrust into a 20+ year conspiracy of genetic manipulation and engineering tied to Create Life. When Lilly finally uncovers the truth and trust is broken, her heart is put to the test Carbon Copy is an entertaining, fast-paced story with plenty of twists and turns to keep your attention. The research into genetics and cloning is great and the characters are well written with real personalities and flaws, instead of the perfect Alpha male and his heroine. Some of the information reveals may have ratcheted up the tension and suspense, but overall Carbon Copy is an interesting read with intriguing characters and an impressive plot!
