Overview

I am now a caregiver too, caring for my ninety two year old husband. We have a blended family and have been married for over forty one years.
I think that these little poems will strike a chord with people who are caring for a loved one whether they are adult children or a spouse. The demands and pressures are the same.

About the Author

About The Author
Judith Braunfeld was born in 1937 in Boston MA and grew up in the suburb Newton. She was the oldest of three sisters. After attending public school most of her childhood, she went for the last two years of highschool to Dana Hall, a project school in wellsley Masshuchussets. Judie, as she is known by her friends, was especially close to her paternal grandmother. She called her "Mammy". Judie spent every weekend and every school vacation at Mammys house.
Growing up, Judith was very shy and afraid of any adventure. She was terribly near sighted and therefore hated sports because she couldn't see who hit the ball. This completely changed when she matured.
Married at 18, she attended Boston university and worked selling children's clothes at Best & Company, a high scale department store. Eventually, Judith and her husband had three children. A daughter Alison, who is now a special ed teacher, a son Peter who is an actor and a daughter Kristen who is a minister.
Judys relationship with her grandmother is what led her to working with older adults. After a divorce in her thirties, she finally got to go to college and graduated from the university of Illionois with a degree in gerontology.
About that same time, Judy met her current husband and they created a blended family. Now her husband is 92 and she is his caregiver. Much of this book not only comes from years of working directly with seniors, but also from experiences with her husband Peter.
Over the years, Judy has been the social worker at an Americana nursing home and is assistant director at another. She worked as the Community Director on aging for the city of Indianappolis. She also ran a student foundation at UI and finally started her own consulting business which she ran for thirty years.
She is the mother of Peter Jessop, the famous voice-over actor who voiced Miraak in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Paladin Danse in Fall Out 4. Judith is currently retired.
