The long–awaited sequel to Chaos Born takes us back into the Applecross, where Lora faces increasing threats to her survival and her chance at love.
Lora Blackgoat – mercenary and smuggler – has only just recovered from the last threat on her life and hasn't even begun to sort out the mess of having both a nephilim warrior and a reborn hellspawn as potential lovers. Work should be a refuge, but a job finding missing persons puts her in the crosshairs of a violent gang and a merchant with a taste for blood sport.
Reluctantly, Lora turns to the two men in her life for help. Roman – the nephilim – professes to be her soul mate and turns to her when he feels the darkness of nephilim madness descending. But though Lora is drawn to Roman, it is Seth, ex–lover and reborn hellspawn, who Lora must ultimately ask to protect those she loves. Can she trust Seth to save Roman and her adoptive family, or will this be a fatal mistake?

I didn't read the first book in this series. This book is not really a stand alone read. It took me most of the book to get caught up. Lora is a creature that even she doesn't know what she is. Then there are the two men, Seth and Roman, competing for her. At times it bounced around and I got lost again for a short time. I usually don't mind graphic books but this one bothered me and I just skipped over and missed parts. This wasn't one of my favorite reads but that doesn't mean you wouldn't like it. Give this book a chance.
Welcome back to the Applecross, the melting pot of danger, magic, and the supernatural. Lora, having discovered her full heritage now becomes the target of a father’s wrath, as well as those who would bring her death to receive the bounty it would bring. Snarky, tough as nails and unwilling to show fear, Lora still rushes, full tilt into trouble. Could she also finally be allowed a shared love? How does a girl choose between a nephilim warrior and a reborn hellspawn? Only one truly has no agenda and has her back. Will the gang wars ruin Gideon’s business? Will the future leader of the reapers REALLY use his beautiful actress daughter as a political pawn, as he secretly uses Lora to assist in his plot? Chaos Bound by Rebekah Turner, having greatly benefited from the amazing world building of its predecessor, Chaos Born,, delves further into Lora, her world and her life. This time, Lora is much more likable, has a much deeper, well-rounded personality with a little less prickle to her tongue. Gideon seems a little quirkier, less self-possessed and Seth and Roman, as part of the almost love triangle become major players filled with surprises for Lora. Although still dark in flavor, Chaos Bound has some smoother edges and a better flow through each bend and twist! Looks like this series is only going to get better and better! I received an ARC edition from Harlequin Enterprises Australia/Escape Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
