What does it take to turn a good girl bad? Sick of her interfering brother nosing into her love life—and by proxy, her sex life—Penny Diamond has decided she needs a break from her "girl next door" reputation. And she knows exactly who can help her… Tall, lean, and impossibly intense Sebastian Strafford is rumored to have a sexual appetite with a decidedly wicked flavor.
Unfortunately, he's also her brother's best friend.
Sebastian doesn't do relationships. Getting involved with Penny—and giving into that carnal thirst he's tried to ignore all these years—is just about the worst idea ever. But he'll be damned if she turns to anyone else for her "education." So Sebastian makes her a deal: just two weeks to indulge in every sensual sin imaginable. Now he just has to keep himself from falling for the good girl. Especially when she's so deliciously bad...

Penny glanced down at herself. The white top she wore was tight, clung to her curves, and, with the few buttons in front undone, gave sight to some major cleavage. She'd taken her friend Lily's advice and paired the top with a short skirt and sexy heels, but now she had to wonder...
"You sure this isn't too much?"
She wiggled her toes, insecurity slowly pumping through her veins.
Lily tugged on the fabric of Penny's shirt, trying to close the buttons. "Maybe suck it in a little?"
"I can't suck in my boobs."
Lily shrugged and stepped back to look at her. "Screw it, I say leave it undone. It looks hot. Besides, it's Jenna's bachelorette party," she said, fastening her earing. "You're supposed to dress a little slutty for the club."
The club was half an hour away and the closest thing to a "night life scene" available to the people from the small town of Diamond, Kansas. Well, aside from Penny's BBQ bar and restaurant. She'd taken over the BBQ when her mother passed away last year. The long hours hadn't left much time for her to have fun. She didn't go to clubs, or the city for that matter, but that didn't mean she didn't like fun...wasn't open to new things.
The last time she'd attempted to try "new things" was in the bedroom with her ex-boyfriend. Eli was courteous, handsome, all things a gentleman should be. He'd even been patient with Penny when she made him wait six months before finally having sex.
The sex had been a wild disappointment, so a week later she'd put on her best lingerie and gone to surprise him with round two. What she discovered was that he'd already found his own round two, and it wasn't with her. Soon after taking her virginity, he'd taken her dignity by cheating on her with someone more "sexy" than "adorably boring."
His words still rang in her ears:
"You're just too vanilla, Penny."
That had stung, coming from a guy that color-coded his sock drawer, and she'd never quite come out of the shadow he'd cast over her self-esteem. She'd discovered there was a wild side to her waiting to be unleashed, but the first time she'd tried to let out her inner sex kitten, he'd dumped her.
Which was why her sexual experience was lacking. That one time with Eli was her only experience. She'd thought about dating again, even gotten a few admiring glances, but her older brother Ryder did a great job keeping the male population of Diamond far away from her. And she was tired of it. Especially since she'd just found out that Eli was coming back into town with his new fiancé. AKA the other woman.
Diamond was too small a town for her not to run into him. If — when — she saw him, she wanted to know for herself that he wouldn't wreck her.
"Besides," Lily said, "this is the kind of outfit you need to catch the kind of man you're fishing for."
Penny swallowed hard. Funny Lily had phrased it that way, because she was going fishing, and Penny had her eyes on a big Bass. As in Sebastian "Bass" Strafford. The one man she'd had a secret crush on for years. He was dark, brooding, and a bad ass attorney, who also happened to be her older brother's best friend.
"Ryder's going to wet himself if he sees me dressed like this," Penny said.
Jenna and Colt McCade had been engaged since last summer, and their spring wedding was right around the corner. Thanks to her friends being disgustingly in love, they'd decided to thrown a joint bachelor-bachelorette party at the club. Which meant Penny's brother Ryder would be there.
But so would Bass. And that made tonight the perfect chance for Penny to make her move. She not only trusted him — they'd been friends for years, after all — she knew he was the kind of man that could deliver in the bedroom. Just looking at him was enough to know that.
Not to mention the few whispers she'd heard over the years about Bass being some kind of "sex god." And that made him perfect for her. Who better to teach her how to be a sex goddess than a god himself?
"You might have to help me distract Ryder," she said.
"He'll have to get over himself. You're a grown ass woman. This is your chance," Lily said, cupping Penny's shoulders. Lily's blond hair was fastened into a tight up-do, and the trademark McCade flare was prominent. "Time to implement Operation: Orgasm."
Penny needed some of Lily's confidence. "What if I get shot down?"
"If a guy shoots you down, he's a moron," Lily said. "There's going to be a lot of hot guys, ones more than willing to show you a good time. And sex is a good thing. As long as you're comfortable and feel good about it, there's no reason not to go after what you want."
Problem was, who she wanted was her brother's best friend, a fact Bass wouldn't overlook lightly. She would have to be persuasive if she was going to get the rigid attorney to bend to her idea.
Whatever the end result would be, going for Sebastian tonight was putting the group dynamic in jeopardy. But she had to try.
She knew he was attracted to her. At least, she thought she knew. Last year they'd played a harmless game of Sardines that turned into a few minutes of Sebastian lying against her in the dark, and her breathing in his scent.
She'd thought for sure he was going to kiss her. He'd been close. She could still feel his breath against her lips when he'd whispered the phrase she'd been repeating in her mind for nearly nine months:
Don't challenge me. I always get what I want in the end.
Usually what he wanted was short term flings. If gossip was to be believed, those flings were full of the wildest sex a person could imagine. The thought made her tingle all over. She'd caught his attention, got a glimpse at the man he was hiding underneath, and was now determined to experience what lay behind that domineering persona.
"I'm going for it," Penny said. She gave her long red hair a flick and faced her friend. "Time for Operation: Orgasm to commence."
* * *
Bass glanced at the brunette across the room. She'd been checking him out for the past ten minutes. She was attractive, and that smile she gave was one he recognized. A look that led to the bedroom.
"If that woman keeps staring at you like that, her panties are going to catch fire," Huck Galvin said loudly into Sebastian's ear over the booming music of the club.
Yeah, that brunette could end his dry spell. She was prime, ready, and most importantly, not Penny Diamond.
Get her out of your head.
Good fucking luck with that. He'd been trying to get her out of his mind ever since last summer when they'd played Sardines. He'd always thought she was too soft for him, but after she'd challenged him to a game where he ended up alone with her, he'd barely been able to resist tasting those lush lips of hers. He could still feel her body humming against his, begging for it.
She was everything bright and good. He'd known her a long time, and he'd never met her equal. And he'd looked. Hard. But no one could compare to the soul-deep genuineness of Penny Diamond.
He shook his head and focused on the brunette. That was the kind of surface woman he needed. She looked experienced and able to handle his needs in the bedroom. Needs so strong they'd evolved into a dark secret.
He loved sex, loved women, but his tastes were...not for the timid. They also weren't long term.
He'd learned at a young age that love and companionship didn't equal commitment. Sooner or later, someone got restless and moved on. Just like his mother had done when he was a kid. Just like Bass did with every "relationship" he had. Being the leaver was better than being left. Which was why he had a firm system: nothing lasted beyond two weeks. Besides, most women only wanted — or could handle — a single night with him. After they saw what he was like in bed, they were usually done. Satisfied, but overwhelmed. Which just about said it all, didn't it? Even if love and commitment were for other people, they weren't for him.
Too bad all I can think about is Penny.
No one goaded him like she did. She knew how to push his buttons and played on the very need that drove him both in and out of bed.
He swallowed down the last of his whiskey.
Stop thinking about her.
She was the last person he could ever be with. Between her overbearing older brother, who happened to be his best friend, and her innocent eyes and bright smile, she wasn't the kind of woman who would want what Sebastian dished out.
He looked around the large club, bright lights flickering amongst the darkness, people dancing, the temperature rising to hot and humid. Usually in a suit, he was happy for the weekends when he got to wear a T-shirt and jeans.
"I thought this was your scene, Bassy?" Colt said, walking up, drinks in hand. "But I could see your frownie face all the way from across the bar."
"Poor Bass is girl shy tonight," Huck said, chuckling. "I think he's PMSing."
Great, now both of his friends were giving him shit.
Though they were being dicks, they were like his brothers. Between them, having a great job that he loved and living in a town that felt like home, he was fairly happy. This past year, however, with all the love bullshit in the air wafting from Colt and Jenna, his mood had been on the pissy side. He wished the best for his friends, but their wedding planning and happily ever after gushing only reminded him that kind of thing would never be for him. No serious woman. No long term commitment. That was too much power to give someone else. Hell, his competitive nature was what made him a great attorney. He didn't lose because he had no fear. Nothing loved, nothing lost.
His life was best spent a couple weeks at a time with clear expectations.
"You're giving me shit, and you're the one having a joint bachelor party with your fiancé," Bass said, taking the whiskey in Colt's hand, which left Bass double-fisted, whiskey in one hand, a beer in the other.
"Hey, my fiancé is the hottest thing in here." He glanced around. "Well, she will be when she gets here."
"Look at him," Huck said, laughing. "He's like a damn puppy."
"It's sad really," Bass agreed.
Colt just smiled, his stare locked on the entrance. "Ah fellas, you have no idea what you're in for once the right woman ropes you."
Colt didn't give them another word, just hustled toward the entrance, and Bass saw why. Jenna was walking through, and right behind her was Lily and —
"Holy fucking Christ," he said, his eyes falling out of his head.
Penny Diamond strutted in behind her friends, looking all kinds of deliciously fuckable.
"Oh shit," Huck said with a wide smile, obviously looking at the same thing Bass was. "Ryder is going to piss his pants when he sees his baby sister trussed up like a — "
"Careful," Bass warned.
Huck's smile only grew. "I was going to say 'hottie.' I love Penny. I'd never say a bad word about her."
Bass knew that. They'd all been friends for a long time.
"But I had no idea little Penny was so...curvy." Huck's statement made heat rise in Sebastian's gut. A feeling like jealousy.
Yeah, little Penny was more than curvy. Her five-two frame was hoisted to a staggering five-six in those sinful stilettos. The scrap of fabric she called a skirt showcased tone legs, and the top she wore hugged her flat stomach and full breasts. She was built for a wet dream, had the face of an angel, ivory skin, pouty lips, red hair, and the greenest eyes ever created. And tonight, those gems glanced around until they finally landed on him.
He checked the urge to groan. She didn't look like Little Miss Diamond tonight, and she sure as hell didn't look like anyone's little sister. She looked like she was ready for every fantasy he had — fantasies she'd been the star of lately.
His phone vibrated in his pocket. He dug it out and looked. A text from Ryder.
Ryder:Hey bro, can't make the party tonight. Got held up in Wichita. Big meeting tomorrow morning. Tell Colt sorry and keep an eye on Penny for me.
Great, just fucking great. Ryder was his saving grace to keep his cool around Penny. But now he was charged to keep an eye on her? He wanted to do a lot more than just look at the sultry redhead.
"Ryder is still in Wichita," Bass said to Huck. "He's not coming at all."
"That sucks. I'll let Colt know. You coming?" Huck asked, heading toward their group of friends several tables away.
Bass shook his head. "I'm going to hang back for a few."
"Ah, gonna make a move on the brunette, huh?" Huck asked.
No, he was staying put, because if he left the table, he might get closer to Penny. Might touch her. Forget why that was a bad idea.
"Something like that."
Huck headed toward the group and sat with them at the other end of the club. Bass stayed at his table. The packed dance floor between him and Penny might be enough distance.
Except he saw with one part fear, one part hunger, that she was walking in his direction. Her breasts damn near bouncing out of her top with every stride.
He thought — hoped — she was headed his way. Her eyes were locked on him, after all. But that would be bad. Because the closer she came, the further his mind traveled to all the images of her writhing beneath him. Her skin was the color of fresh cream, and he had no doubt her ass would look amazing warmed and pink from his hand.
He'd bend her over, slap her ass while he fucked her hard. Fucked her until she begged for release. But he wouldn't give it. It would be punishment for wearing that outfit. Flaunting her body that was his to command —
No. Not mine. She's. Not. Mine.
He'd tell himself this a thousand times if he had to. And he'd hate it every single time.
Just when he thought she would saunter her sweet ass over to him, she stopped to chat up some cowboy. The prick leaned down and said something in her ear, and she smiled and tucked a lock of ruby hair behind her ear. All while she kept her eyes on Bass.
What the hell? Was she trying to make him jealous?
The heat that had started in his gut flamed to a full on fire and burned his blood.
He didn't know what the cowboy was saying, but judging by Penny's swaying movements and laugh, the asshole was obviously hitting on her. And the way she raised her brows in Bass's direction, as if saying, What are you going to do about it? He was certain now what she was trying to do to him. Shit of it was, it was working.
Bass took one step in her direction, something she seemed to notice, and those green eyes lit up.
She was playing a dangerous game. One that required him to keep his focus and control. Good thing that was his specialty. He might not be able to have her, but the cowboy asshole wasn't going to either. He'd never felt a deeper need to take her, claim her, than in that moment.
But I can't...
So he'd bury the notion and the feeling. And he'd stand there, unmoving, simply watching with a vengeance.
Except she kept talking to the asshole. No, not talking, openly flirting. But those emerald eyes stayed on Sebastian. Brushing her hair back, she ran two fingers along her collarbone.
He clenched his teeth.
She smiled and nodded at the cowboy. He left, heading to the bar, likely getting her a drink. Penny continued her trek toward Bass.
"Penelope," he said when she reached him.
"Why are you sulking over here?"
"Not sulking." He took a drink and looked her over. Whatever she saw in his gaze made her lick her lips, spurring new fantasies about what he wanted to do with that mouth of hers. "You're making new friends I see." He gestured toward the bar where asshole cowboy was.
"Oh, that's Rob. He seems nice enough. Getting me a drink."
"I'm sure he is."
She frowned. "Is there a problem? You seem grouchy. Huck warned me you were in a mood."
Oh, he was in a mood all right. She brushed her hand along her collarbone again, and Bass had no choice but to watch and wish to hell it was him touching that sweet skin.
"I'm trying to figure out why the hell you're dressed like that."
"You don't like it?" she said, her sarcasm evident in her tone. She glanced down at herself, knowing damn well he liked her outfit. Every man in there did. "What would you dress me in then?"
"That's not my decision to make."

Awesome read! Storyline was entertaining and OMG hot!! Could not put down. Badboy Sebastian and his best friends sister Penny secretly start a two week relationship to further her sexual education. Only things don't go as planned for Sebastain when Penny doesn't call red and end it before it even began. Loved the chemistry and passion between them. Would definitely recommend.
This was an amazingly steamy and hot book. It was well written and it just sucked me in from page one! Joya is an amazing author as she ties in parts of her first book, Chasing Trouble, in with this. So both books sound like they are happening at the same time. So cool! I loved sweet but sassy Penny who gives a very sexy and hot attorney, Sebastian, second thinking his two week rule for women! This book ended too soon!
First time reading this author is with The Chasing Love novels. Really enjoyed her books. Right up there with my favorites: Lorelie James, Elle Kennedy, Tessa Bailey. Would definitely buy all of her books. If i had one complaint, it would be for her stories to be longer. But even for less than 200 pages, its characters and storyline are rich. Cant wait for the next one!
With releases like Chasing Trouble and Chasing Temptation, Joya Ryan now sits atop my list of favorite Brazen authors right alongside Tessa Bailey, Diane Alberts and Samanthe Beck. Though her novels are short in length, she doesn't skimp on the character development or the sexiness. If you're looking for a steamy little novel with characters who will work their way into your mind and hearts, look no further than her Chasing Love series. Chasing Temptation is the second book in Joya's Chasing Love series. Each novel is a standalone, but I still recommend reading both because you'll want the whole story and they're both great reads. Chasing Temptation is a delightfully sexy romance between Penny and Sebastian. Penny is just out of a relationship with a man who thought she was too vanilla. Sebastian is a player who doesn't do relationships. She's looking to expand her sexual horizons and she has her eyes set on her brother's best friend, Sebastian. Sebastian's been attracted to her for years, but his friendship with her overly-protective brother has kept him from making his move. Sebastian doesn't do relationships and his flings have a two-week expiration date. That keeps feelings from getting involved and someone getting hurt. After Penny propositions Sebastian, he agrees to give her two weeks. Will they last that long? Will one of them wind up with feelings for the other, thus making things messy? Will they live happily ever after? You'll have to read to find out. This book was so freaking good, y'all. I loved Penny from the start and I'd be lying if I didn't say Sebastian was totally drool-worthy. Alpha male lawyer? Yes, please. Sign me up. I love a man who can rock a suit. Penny and Sebastian had so much chemistry, it was addictive. There was so much heat and passion between the two of them, I thought my iPad was going to catch fire. But more than their sexy time, I just loved their story. They challenged each other to see themselves in a different light. I desperately hoped they could find a way to stay together beyond two weeks. They were so well-suited for each other, I knew they'd make a great couple. The Chasing Love series just keeps getting better and I can't wait to see what Joya gives us next. The characters, the romance, the sexy times... it was all delightful and addictive. If you're looking for a new favorite Brazen series, this could be the one. It's definitely at the top of my list. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Penny was crushed when her boyfriend dumped her. He said she was too vanilla. She's determined to get some experience. She knows just who she wants as a teacher. Sebastian Strafford has what she needs. The problem is that he's one of her brother's best friends, but nothing is going to stop this determined lady. Chasing Temptation is a very sexy romance. Penny is tired of feel insecure about her sexuality. She wants to feel confident and desirable. Sebastian has to be in control. He's attracted to her but is afraid that Penny will hate him if they become involved. As these two struggle with a relationship, the action heats up. I enjoyed their battle of wills and wanted them to end up together. Diamond Kansas has never seen so much action. I loved it. The story is very sensual with interesting characters and snappy dialogue. I enjoyed Chasing Temptation. Joya Ryan did a good job with this sexy story. I'm looking forward to more books from Entangled Brazen.
As a reader I always look for new authors to follow. When new releases from the Brazen collection come out, I know that I will find what I am looking for every.single.time! Relatable characters, heart melting romance and an addictive dose of panty-melting sexiness. The second installment of the Chasing Love series by Joya Ryan, Chasing Temptation, was a great mix of everything that I look for when reading a Brazen novel. Sebastian ''Bass'' Strafford is about to find out what temptation really is. When his best friends younger sister comes knocking on his door, will he be able to accomplish his part of the deal that they both agreed to or will his growing feelings for Penny leave him wanting more? Falling for your best friends sibling is one of my favorite tropes. I can read these stories all day long! Of course, when I read the blurb to Chasing Temptation I knew that I would love it! No matter how many time I read these stories I can't help falling in love with each and every one of the characters. This was my first time reading a book from Joya Ryan and I really enjoyed it! Her characters are fun and lovable. I connected with Penny and Sebastian from the very beginning. Their chemistry is absolutely blazing hot! Sebastian is quite the dirty talker! Holy Smokes! The things he would say to Penny?!?!?! *Panties melting* Every single kiss and caress got under her skin and she kept on falling for him until the only thing she could think about was stopping time so that those two weeks next to him would never end. Sebastian was a bit stubborn. I knew the reasons behind him not wanting a long-term relationship. I was still heartbroken when he told Penny he was not good enough for her. I got to know him while reading their story and I was positive that he deserved all the love that she felt for him. Penny knew exactly what she wanted and she went for it. Way to go Penny! I really enjoyed this second installment in the Chasing Love series. I did not read Chasing Trouble, which is Jenna and Colt's story. I will without a doubt read their story. I really liked them in Chasing Temptation and can't wait to read about how they found their HEA. I'm really excited to see what's next for this series! I give, Chasing Temptation, by Joya Ryan 4 sexy, panty-melting, page-turning, darlin' stars!
Enjoyed reading it .
Uh, yeah! This is about as perfect as you can get. So well written, so tight, so quick. With something this short, it is important that everything fire on all cylinders; this did. One of the best authors I've read in a long, long time.
Hot and steamy!!! Loved it
The author did a good job of hauling me into the story, characters are believable and likable. There was tension and it had me turning pages eagerly. The sex scenes were pretty hot. What more could you want except more? 133 pages.
## Good but not great. Will I read this again? I think so. However, the hero was difficult to like. SPOILER ALERT: He reiterated "it's only two weeks", "it's just sex", so many times it was annoying. Of course every book has conflict, but it felt like Groundhog Day. The heroine throws herself at the hero and he pushes her away. Again and again. And again. Have some pride lady and walk away. He was pretty mean and lining up a date for the same day the two weeks are over was nothing short of a slap in the face. How does the heroine even fall for him? He has to have SOME redeeming qualities. Yes, he likes control in the bedroom. So what? That's hot. But there's no excuse for being such a douchebag. The hurt that the author conveyed was fierce. Wow, she did an amazing job with that. And the best part, there was groveling at the end. No instant fogiveness. Yay. Overall I did enjoy it, I just thought the heroine could've been a little stronger in resisting him throughout.
Chasing Temptation is an entertaining read, a little predictable but good none the less. It's a quick read took me no time at all to finish the book; it was a perfect length for the story. The characters are not unique Penny is the typical "girl next door" with a deep need to be bad and Sebastian is the typical big bad lawyer with a not so deep dark sexual appetite with an unrequited love for his best friends little sister. But we love those those type of characters so that's not to bad. With all that being said if you wanna take a chance on it go for it, it just didn't click with me as more than 3 stars. Penny is tired of her over protective big brother scaring away all the guys she has dated, which has lead to a very boring sex life. Her friends combined bachelorette/bachelor party is just the time to initiate "Operation Orgasm" and seduce the one man she has lusted over for so long and knows from rumors that he is precisely the man to full fill her sexual needs. Sebastian tries to avoid Penny, who fills his thoughts and fantasies. Penny, who is a forbidden fruit little sister of his best friend. He has successfully avoids her until she shows up trussed up like a sex kitten and challenges him. He gives in to her and gives her two weeks to give her all the sexual satisfaction she can handle. Penny and Sebastian agree to keep it all under raps, mainly to avoid her big brothers over protective meddling. All the while having their steamy hot BDSM filled erotic affair their friends are constantly trying to set them up with other people. Penny and Sebastian fight with jealousy, each other, and their feelings for each other before a totally romantic and sweet ending.
This book is a great read. Penny and Sebastian story is when you run from your problems, you could miss out on what was the best thing you ever wanted.
She is his friend's little sister, the marriage and kids type, and a good girl. He is rough around the edges, in control, and doesn't date anyone longer than 2 weeks. It shouldn't work.....but it does. And they're hot! A good story with great characters. Will definitely look for more from this author.
This was really so much better than I had expected. I hadn't read the first one, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I really liked how the author handled the characters. From what I've seen, generally when someone is in Penny's position, it's because she's damaged somehow. I loved that Bass was the one with the hang ups. Penny has a busy life. Between running her Mom's restaurant, and dealing with her extremely protective older brother, she hasn't had many chances with men. She decides she wants more. More experience, more everything. She decides Bass is the person to find it with. She just has to convince him. Bass has always had a soft spot for Penny. First as his best friends younger sister, and now in a different way he wasn't expecting. He always thought of her as pure and innocent so when she propositions him he figures he can scare her off. The most time he spends with a woman is 2 weeks, and that's only if they don't say no to him before that. He thinks this thing with Penny will be over quickly, knowing she'll say no to his darker desires. Imagine his surprise when all she says is YES. I loved seeing the confusion and finally the growth in Bass. I'll definitely be reading the 1st book and the 3rd which I hope will be Ryders book.
This book combines two of my favorite romance themes: the best friend and the timetable relationship. Never have I wanted to skip to the end of a story to find out how it ends. But with the way this one starts out, that is exactly what I wanted to do. Sebastian and Penny are smoking hot together. I love the way she challenges him. Oh my word how I loved this book. From beginning to end, it was spicy, emotional, engaging. Sebastian utterly broke my heart with his vulnerability, wanting someone so much but too afraid to risk it. And Penny with all her strength and unwillingness to give up. I loved her character. The ending was phenomenal. Truly great. The only let down was that it was over. I would have loved more time with Sebastian and Penny. Maybe there will be more of them if the series continues. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
Originally posted on my blog: Tangled Up In Books I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating! There should be a warning label on this book. Caution: Flammable because oh sweet lord... You know that scene in Bruce Almighty? The one where Jennifer Aniston is in the bathroom just after Jim Carrey gets his powers and he's sending those vibes through the door and she's like all hot and bothered? Yeah. That scene. That's basically a perfect example of what it was like reading this book. *Fans self* It's a combination of two of my favorite tropes, the older brother's best friend mixed with friends to lovers. It was funny, sweet, steamy as all hell and just the right amount of tension and "will they or won't they" to make this one delicious read. I loved the sweet and yet frustrated Penny. Though we don't really get to see a lot of the protective older brother bit mentioned in the blurb and are mostly, up until a brief moment at the end, just told about Ryder's chasing guys off and I would have loved to see more of that. Been able to experience it. The only other thing that bothered me with the whole Penny situation is how at a few different moments she was almost desperate when it came to Sebastian. They enter their two week arrangement and she's relentless with her pursuit of "tell me you feel something! I know you feel something!" that she would bombard him with. Not that it was a bad thing she was doing but I almost wanted to say have some self respect girl because she was like a dog with a bone and it got sort of annoying. But I guess you can't say the girl does't have any determination! She was also very feisty and a challenging in a sense when it came to Sebastian. She knew all the right buttons to push and she was the perfect girl to break down the walls of control that Bass surrounds himself with. Speaking of Bass...Oh. My. Gosh. I love me some alpha male and that boy screams all sorts of sexy alpha. He's all about control, discipline and the rough and dirty. And when I say rough and dirty, I mean rough and dirty! I'm surprised by the end of the book if Penny even has any underwear left because when they were alone together and she'd push his buttons he wouldn't take them off her, he usually ended up ripping them off. Hooooot! But I think the one thing I enjoyed the most when it came to Sebastian is watching that carefully perfected discipline and control start to slip every time he was around Penny. Watching that internal war within his head and heart as he would attempt to convince himself that it was only two weeks and then he'd walk away and they'd go back to their friendship even though he finally had something he'd wanted for the longest time. Penny. The chemistry with these two characters was off the charts. The storyline was just the right amount of give and take. It pulled me in and kept me engaged all the way to the end and I genuinely cared to know what would happen with these characters. All of them! I haven't read the first book in this series yet but since this is a big group of friends the books center around I was able to see enough of them to pique my interest. I'm looking forward to reading more from Joya Ryan in the future. Thank you Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book!
Penny is searching for a man to teach her about passion. There is one man in particular that she has known forever, but he doesn't seem to give her the time of day other than being her brothers best friend. Sebastian is always in the need of control in and out of the bedroom. His steadfast rule is that no relationship last more than 2 weeks. This means there is absolutely no time for any attachments to grow. Penny finally convinces Sebastian to give her 2 weeks and they share a steamy two weeks. The problem is Penny falls in love, but can she get Sebastian to understand he feels the same way? Good book. Some steamy romantic scenes and as always a happy ending. I was provided a copy of this book for my honest review.
Why did I want to read this book? If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that one of my favorite romance tropes is the sister/best friend set-up. And plus, I’ve been really enjoying Entangled Publishing’s Brazen imprint. What worked for me? One of the really great things about this story, aside from one of my favorite tropes, is that Penny and Bass felt very real to me. I got to know their hopes, their dreams, their fears and because of that I really feel connected to them. They do get those moments where I’m questioning their decisions but who doesn’t make mistakes right? What I appreciate further is that their decisions don’t feel selfish at all. Yes, they do hurt each other at one point, but they made those decisions because they thought they were for the best and not further hurt each other. This is especially true for Bass, who’s cynical view on commitments was a result of something that happened with his parents in the past. But it was really satisfying to see how Bass overcomes this internal struggle. On the other hand, I really admired Penny. Her cheating ex-boyfriend was a douche and really did a number on her but I love that she decides to face life with nothing to lose and everything to gain and she finally goes for the thing or the person that she really wants. I got to give the girl some props for putting herself out there and not being afraid to fight for what she loves. And the chemistry between these two, you guys. The pages were burning up. What did not work for me? My only tiny misgiving was that there were parts in the story that felt more of the telling rather than the showing type of writing. And that did take a bit of my enjoyment out of reading this. But fortunately, this was just a little in the beginning and there were only a few of it. My over-all take on it? I discovered another writer that I would love to read more from in the future especially in the Entangled Brazen imprint. Yay! This was such a sexy and yet really romantic love story featuring one of my personal favorite tropes.
ARC Courtesy of Entangled Publishing This is the second book in this wonderful little series and I have to admit to enjoying it even more than the first. I loved the story of Sebastian "Bass" and Penny and the good folks of Diamond. Bass is best friends with Penny's brother and has known and been friends with Penny his whole life. He is a commitment phobe of the highest order, only staying with a women a week or two. He never wants to give himself completely to someone as when they leave him it will only hurt worse. Penny has crushed on Bass forever and when she decides she wants to get rid of her "good girl next door" image she approaches Bass to help her out. After all she has heard wicked things about his sexual appetite and wants to experience them for herself. Bass agrees to "help" her out but only for 2 weeks and the night of Colt and Jenna's rehearsal dinner will signify the end for them... Only problem is will he be able to say goodbye at the end of the 2 weeks as this good girl next door is all kinds of naughty . These 2 have chemistry up to the wazoo and this makes for one hot little read that will eagerly keep you turning the pages..... I highly recommend this series, as I guaran dam tee you will love it!!!
4 You're in trouble now, darlin' stars Having Thoroughly enjoyed the first one in this series, I was excited to dive into Sebastian “Bass” Strafford and Penny Diamond’s story. Penny has grown up with Sebastian, given he’s her brother’s best friend. She sees him on a regular basis, now that she has taken over Penny’s BBQ bar and restaurant following her Mother’s death. She’s known for her delicious dishes, after all she’s had time to perfect them, but that has left her with no play time, and feeling left out in the love stakes. Twin that with the fact that her brother, Ryder, scrutinises every man she exchanges pleasantries with, leads her to drastically reconsider all her blah intimate experiences. She feels the time has come to engage some bedroom tuition, and who better than Sebastian; he doesn’t do relationships (2 weeks max), he’s renowned for his delectable talking domination both in the courtroom and the bedroom. Surely that’s the best option she has to flavour her vanilla skills. We had watched from afar the chemistry building for this couple in #1, so from the outset, the steam dial was well activated. I thoroughly engaged with both the main characters. Penny with her perceived naivety, but a definite latent tease. She was not shy about getting what she wanted, and challenged Bass at every opportunity. Bass, with his proven minimum timescales, no nonsense charm, but long time harboured fantasies, cause him to struggle from the outset. I love this author’s voice, and accompanied by a wealth of great characters, within a very hot storyline, makes for a great read. Can’t wait for the rest of this series. Chasing Temptation by Joya Ryan is a fabulous read. I could not put my Kindle down while reading this amazing story. Penny and Sebastian's chemistry is off the charts HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! Sebastian and Penny are so drawn to each other, but certain personal circumstances stand in their way. Do they let the personal situations take over and push them apart forever or do they battle the circumstances head on as a team and work for what they both want and need? That's where you will have to read their story to find out!!! I highly recommend Chasing Temptation. Joya Ryan has done a fantastic job writing this book. The characters are well rounded and the reader can relate to them, the story flows flawlessly, and the chemistry between the characters is undeniable. Chasing Temptation is an absolutely magnificent book!!! *****5 AMAZING Stars*****

Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews by Kim Chasing Temptation is written based on the tried and true romantic troupe of the best friend/sibling relationship. Yeah, yeah... I’ve read this troupe tons of times. But I haven’t read it like this. Sebastian “Bass” Stafford is simply mind blowing. Penny Diamond is anything but what people see her as. Penny has had a crush on her older brother Ryder’s best friend Sebastian since she was a child. But Ryder is overprotective and Sebastian would never dream of messing around with his best friend’s little sister. But when Penny sets out to get more experience and drive men wild, Sebastian is the only man she wants. One look at Penny and Sebastian can’t seem to fight the urge to claim her as his. “I can give you lessons in sex, but the minute you say no, it ends.” Sebastian doesn’t do relationships. He has a tried and true two week rule. His belief is that with such a short time frame, emotional feelings won’t have a chance to develop. Sebastian isn’t prepared for Penny to take what he gives out so well, not run at the first sign of his darker side or challenge him like no one else. I loved this couple and I love this series. Sebastian is an attorney who grew up with a less than ideal family life. He doesn’t believe in love and he likes to keep his distance. He views Penny as being everything that is good, and knows that she wants the one thing he can’t give her, a family with a “white picket fence”. Penny is a total good girl with inexperience in spades. But she’s strong and determined. She goes after what she wants and doesn’t take no for an answer. When these two come together, you can feel the passion and chemistry coming through the pages of the book. The Chasing Love Series is based on a group of friends who grew up together in Kansas and are always there for each other, no matter what. That friendship, in my opinion, is one of the reasons I think this series is so good. To say I’m looking forward to the next book is an understatement.
