Wanting her means putting a target on her back...

Layla's taste in men runs toward the epic side of awful. With one murderous ex-fiancé already behind her, she's attempting to start over in Redemption Harbor with the help of her bestie, Nova. And wine. Lots of wine. The very thing that helps her make another epic mistake—trying to kiss Xavier, one of her newest friends. So what if he's sexy, funny, and has completely taken over her fantasies? Relationships and Layla don't mix. And Xavier is clearly not interested anyway.

But it's too late to walk away...

Any good hitman has no business forging a personal life...no matter how great the temptation. And Xavier is an exceptionally good hitman, with a long list of enemies. Even if Layla could somehow look past his profession, he'd never put her in jeopardy. But everyone has their breaking point—and when Layla accepts a date with someone else, Xavier's possessiveness is unleashed. The greater the risk, the sweeter the reward...until Xavier's sweet Layla is used against him by someone from his past. Now he'll do whatever it takes to protect her from the enemy hunting her from the shadows.

Author note: This is a stand-alone novel in the Redemption Harbor series complete with an HEA and no cliffhanger.

I would like to say that I have enjoyed this series very much. I hate to see it come to a close and a Christmas story would be a great addition for all the families of the redemption series. I recommend they you buy and read the whole series you will not be disappoint. Happy reading

## Ok, I really liked how it started. I liked that the heroine told the hero not to play games with her and even went on a date with someone else. I thought she would remain a strong heroine, however she pretty much bullied the guy to be with her. Even begged. Bleh. And frankly, I became really frustrated with this hero's hot and cold act. I want her; I don't want her but I don't want anyone else to have her; nevermind I want her. Too much back and forth. I just didn't see how she could fall for him. He wasn't kind, or funny, or sweet....Yes, he was hot. She fell in love with his looks? Anyway, it was just meh.

This the seventh and sadly the last book in the 'Redemption Harbor' series. I felt this was a great ending to the series. I've enjoyed reading all the characters in this series and I am happy the author finished with Layla and Xavier's story. I'm always amazed when an author can make you fall in love with a questionable character. But who doesn't love a bad boy? I loved that Layla excepted Xavier despite his job, saw the man for who he is on the inside. I found this series to be fast past, suspenseful, with deep friendship old and new, and with sizzling romance. This book had more of a body count then the other's books, which did not bother me. I was happy to have my favorite reoccurring character in this story, Sky is a great character that makes me laugh and yell “you go girl!”. Would I recommend this book to my friends and family? Most defiantly! And to everyone else who is looking for entertaining romantic suspense. ***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!

Katie Reus gives a fitting finale to her Redemption Harbor series, with “Chasing Vengeance”. It only makes sense to give Layla her own happily ever after, after her torturous past with her murderous ex-fiance and being saved by her best friend and her team of specialists. Starting over in Redemption Harbor among her new friends, also brings Layal to Xavier. Ace hitman and with an enemy wanting revenge for his past actions, bedding with Xavier only brings Layla into the crosshairs of danger. But then love doesn’t lister to the mind, and fate has it’s own agenda and with the entire team at their back, it is only a matter of time to eliminate the danger to their future. Xavier and Layla make an excellent pair with their chemistry and characterization. I’ll miss this series from Katie Reus. From the romance seekers to the thrill seekers, this series was captivating and fulfilling. Branded and sealed by Katie Reus!!! Received an ARC from KR Press, LLC via NetGalley for an honest review.

Chasing Vengeance was a good book but overall just meh in terms of long lasting impressions for me, especially against Katie Reus's large catalog of romantic suspense books. Layla was sweet, kind, and incredibly loyal heroine, but she's had her heart and confidence banged up pretty good and she's not sure she can trust herself when it comes to men. I liked Layla's growth in the story and while I wish she had been a bit more assertive with her feelings, I did understand that wasn't really her personality type. As a hero Xavier is wrapped in shades of grey and while he certainly has a code of honor as a contract killer, he also believes there's no way Layla will accept what he's done and where he comes from. Xavier's push-and-pull attitude toward Layla got on my nerves through the second half of the book and I'm especially not a fan of a hero who refuses to be with the heroine but then gets ridiculously possessive when he sees her with someone else. Overall, the Redemption Harbor series has not been one of my favorite by Katie Reus but it certainly brought some very unique characters to the table (looking at you Skye) and I was happy to see them all find love and happiness.

Xavier knows that he cannot get involved.  His choice in work has made that choice for him. He won't put anyone in danger.  But Layla  has him wanting something more.   Layla's taste in men have not been the best. Her ex proves that. She is in Redemption Harbor for a new start. Xavier is making her rethink life.

This is the next story in the Redemption Harbor series and we get to catch up with all of our favorite couples. Layla was introduced in the last book as a good friend of Nova’s who Gage helped out of a bad situation. The romance between Gage and Nova needed a little push and Layla’s life-threatening problem brought them together. Now she is part of the Redemption Harbor group of friends and she is eyeing Xavier as her new best friend, hopefully with some benefits. Xavier is a mystery man. We are aware he’s a dangerous man with a very dangerous job. He doesn’t want to risk falling for someone only to put them in danger. But the pull with Layla is new for him. Can he deny himself, especially after he knows she feels something for him too? But Xavier’s job has drawn the attention of the wrong person. He is out for revenge and is going to get it through Layla. This is another suspenseful and fast moving story with just the right amount of heat and you should enjoy the entire series but if this is the only one, it is easy to read for a stand alone….

We have finally come to the end of Redemption Harbor in Chasing Vengeance. I have to say that it was a pretty good read for the last book in the series. In the previous book we meet Layla who has terrible luck with men. However, she feels a strong connection with Xavier, but he has friend zone Layla knowing what she's been through. Yet, Xavier's past comes to haunt him and possibly hurt Layla. A fairly quick read, we get to see the full crew in action. Truth be told this series isn't really a standalone kind of read, each of these stories kind of build upon one another. As I said that we met Layla in the previous book. She was rescued cause she was in desperate help in the last book. Plus, she kind of needed a happy ending. Overall, a pretty good ending to the series. Copy provided by author

This is Xavier's and Layla's chance at a HEA. Layla, we met in the last book and is the best friend of Nova. Xavier is a friend of Axel's who we have met in other books in the series At times this book was very touching and heartwarming and at other times full of action and drama. They end up making a great couple with strong moral compasses. Besides they are just darn sexy together. We did get to see all the side characters from the rest of the series. The sexy times were hot and made sense for the characters and the story. Lots of action and suspense if you like that in a story. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a sexy, action-packed romance. This is the last book in the series, so if you have been waiting now is the time to readthe series. 4Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the Author.*

4.5 stars of Awesomesauce! The end is here! The Redemption Harbor series is now complete and goes out with a bang! This story focuses on Layla and Xavier. And he is scrumptiously bad! Xavier definitely has a bit of a dark side, but he is trying to do the right thing when it comes to Layla. He doesn’t believe that she could have a future with him because of his past, but when it comes time to step up, he goes all in. I was really surprised by how much I liked him. He was very reserved, but I definitely got why and when he did open himself it was awesome to experience. Layla was a very sweet character. She knows that there is something about Xavier that has a darkness to it, but she doesn’t let that stop her. But there was only so much she could take. She took the story more than I would have expected her too, but she knows the other characters in the series, so I guess she had an inkling to the type of person that Xavier was and wasn’t as shocked by the revelations that came out. Overall, very nice story with a great pace and a great ending to an awesome series! I am going to miss the characters in this series and hope that the author, while not bringing them back here, may intersperse them through other series that she rights. So, two thumbs up and happy reading!

Layla and Xavier were both trying to fight their attraction to each other and just be friends, but the heart wants what the heart wants. It takes Layla going on a date with another man and someone threatening her life to make Xavier realize how important to him Layla has already become. Can Xavier keep her safe, get Layla to accept his real job, and believe that they can have a future together?

What a great addition to this amazing series! The story line is filled with suspense, doubt, true friendship and an attraction that can not be denied. The characters have terrific connections and interactions throughout. Sorry this is the last book of this series, but so glad to have come to know all these truly unique characters and their stories. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book; all opinions expressed are my own.

As the Redemption Harbor crew prepares to bid us farewell, we are treated to their friends making a connection. We first meet Layla, Nova’s best friend, in book 5 when Nova and Gage travel to save her from a murderous fiancé. Now Layla is starting over in Redemption Harbor. Xavier, Axel’s friend and fellow professional hit man, came to Redemption Harbor for Axel’s wedding and has developed a friendship with Layla. He wants more for them but is determined to keep her in the friend-zone to ensure no danger comes to her from anything in his past. When Layla is forced off the road and into a ditch by a road-rage driver, the Redemption Harbor crew thinks it may not be random. And as they dig into the possibilities, it looks like Xavier’s past may have targeted Layla after all. Xavier and Layla are on the run and posing as bait to bring the culprit out in the open, but will they nibble the cheese and show their face? This who-done-it keeps you guessing until the very end. I’ve loved these characters and am sad to see them go but hope that we visit with them again in the future. Recommended series. While each book can be read as a standalone, it is best to read the series in order. *ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review.

Chasing Vengeance is the book that wraps up Katie Reus’s Redemption Harbor series. Xavier is a hitman, and he knows he’s not the right man for Layla. But he just can’t seem to stay away. And with all that Layla has been through in her short life, she knows she should try to date someone more...normal. But their friendship is rife with chemistry, and they don’t really want to find someone else. When danger is chasing Layla once again, will Xavier stick around once she’s safe, or try to be noble. OK. You guys know romantic suspense is my jam, and Katie Reus is an automatic 1-click author for me. And I did like Chasing Vengeance. It wrapped up the series nicely. I loved that Xavier is a character who values family above all else. And he really did want to do the right thing by his family and by Layla. And I loved that Layla wasn’t portrayed as the shrinking violet, damsel in distress. She’s a tough cookie who has had some really bad things happen in her life, but she hasn’t let anything stop her from pursuing a better future for herself. And when danger lurks, she’s not so stubborn that she puts herself in risky situations. I also really liked seeing the characters from the other books expanding their circle of friends with each successive story. They become more than friends and co-workers. They become family. All in all, I really liked this series, and I liked this book. But honestly, Chasing Vengeance was not my favorite of the series. My favorite was Resurrection (book 1). And even though all seven books are a series, they each can be read as a standalone. That said, I do recommend the series as a whole because, well...she’s an auto 1-click for me! NICUnurse’s Rating: I give Chasing Vengeance by Katie Reus 4 stars and the entire Redemption Harbor series 4.5 stars! Really, if you’re a fan of romantic suspense, you can’t go wrong with any of her books, so pick them up like...NOW!

All you want or need from Katie Reus, intrigue, romance and sex. Layla is a teacher, with poor taste in men, all she wants is Xavier now. But all Xavier wants is friendship, perhaps somethings aren't meant to be. Xavier is a hitman, and wants Layla, but he has enemies and all he wants is Layla to stay alive. But sometimes what you want and what you get are two different things.

Layla came to Redemption Harbor to start over. Her ex-fiancée was a murderer. Now that he’s dead she wants to rebuild her life. Here she has friends who care for her. Especially Xavier. I loved seeing how this powerful man was overcome by love for this woman. He will go to any lengths to keep her safe. He’s worried that she won’t want him once she knows the real man. Layla is drawn to Xavier. She wishes that he would reciprocate her feelings. Layla is a good and caring woman. I loved how she makes a difference in the lives of the people around her. These two have lived very different lives but I was touched by how much they care for each other. I wanted this couple to get the HEA they deserved. As usually I enjoy coming to Redemption Harbor. It’s great to catch up with this tight knit group of friends and coworkers. Katie Reus has written a suspenseful story. It’s filled with non-stop action and has a surprising twist at the end. The characters are well written and the dialogue is sharp and snarky. I’m sorry this is the last book in this series. I will miss this team.

Katie Reus saved the best for last! Xavier is my favorite hero in the Redemption Harbor Security series. He is perfectly imperfect, and I loved everything about him! Layla and Xavier are by far my favorite couple in this series! I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy from NetGalley.

Layla is attempting to start over in Redemption Harbor with the help of her bestie and lots of wine and since her and relationships don’t mix she has no business fantasizing about her sexy and funny new friend, Xavier. A good hitman has no business forging a personal life and no matter how much he wants Layla, wanting her puts a target on her back and Xavier is determined to keep her safe. The final book in the Redemption Harbor is an exciting, explosive and emotional story that holds readers captive from the very beginning. Xavier and Layla are strong, vivid characters that are full of volatile chemistry that flows from the pages as they easily draw readers into their tempestuous romance. Xavier and Layla prove the adage that opposites attract in that Layla is quite feisty and Xavier is reserved but there is no denying the sparks and the magnetic attraction between these two as they navigate the their rocky relationship which if full of emotional turmoil as Xavier is determined to stay away. This fast paced and smooth flowing plot steadily builds up the thrilling suspense with adrenaline pumping action and unexpected twists that ensure that the hero and heroine along with the readers are surprised. During all the excitement of this story, readers may want to pay special attention to an explosive car chase and the creative way Xavier puts a stop to it (chills). While readers are sad that the series is ending, they can’t help but enjoy this spectacular conclusion from beginning to end.

Chasing Vengeance is the last book in the Redemption Harbor series. I plan on re-reading the series now that I have all the books. It’s great to see how these characters have changed and grown since book 1. This story features Xavier and Layla. I like Layla’s character because even though she had a rough childhood and was mistreated by her ex-husband, she still has a relatively positive outlook on life. Granted, she has some serious insecurities and she is scared, but determined to put herself out there so she can have the life that she dreamed of. Xavier is just a bad-ass, and I’m here for it. Because of his profession he keeps to himself with no ties. But he can’t stay away from Layla, no matter how much he tries. This is a romantic suspense story so, there is the other story line of someone targeting Layla to get back at Xavier, Most of the cast of characters from previous books show up at some point during the story. Most of them lending a hand to help keep Layla safe, or give advice when warranted. Super sexy and totally worth the read. ARC received in exchange for honest review.

CHASING VENGENCE Redemption Harbor Series Book 7 By Katie Reus I am saddened that Book 7 is the last of the Redemption Harbor series. I would say this series has been some of Katie's best work. This is the story of Xavier and Layla. She is rebuilding her life after her ex-fiance almost killed her, but she is starting to have strong feelings for Xavier. He is a hit man with a big list of enemies, so he is afraid he would put her in danger if they tried to have a relationship, no matter how much he wants it. This solid story has suspense, drama, lots of angst, Xavier and Layla have lots of hot chemistry, and it is a very well written story. I give this 5 stars.

4.25 stars—CHASING VENGEANCE is the seventh and final instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult REDEMPTION HARBOR erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Redemption Harbor Consulting. This is former Marine, former CIA contractor, and assassin for hire Xavier, and kindergarten teacher Layla Ferrer’s story line. CHASING VENGEANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story line is revealed where necessary. Layla was first introduced to the reader in book five HUNTING DANGER. Told from several third person perspectives including Layla and Xavier CHASING VENGEANCE follows the friends to lovers relationship between former Marine, former CIA contractor and assassin for hire Xavier, and kindergarten teacher Layla Ferrer. Xavier has lusted after our story line heroine since her rescue months before but Xavier knows his lifestyle will never be conducive to settling down or falling in love. When Xavier suspects he and Layla have been targeted by someone from his past, our hero becomes lover and protector for the woman with whom he will fall in love but a woman whose heart he will break in the process. What ensues is the back and forth, developing relationships between Layla and Xavier, and the fall-out as Xavier continues to push away the woman he loves. Xavier believes he doesn’t deserve to be happy, and struggles with what he does, very well. Protecting Layla is his number one priority but uncovering the who, how and why is just as important. Leaving the details to the Redemption Harbor team, Xavier shuttles himself and Layla to a safe house for their protection. The relationship between Layla and Xavier is fraught with the uncertainty of Xavier’s inability to allow himself to be loved. Layla is honest with what she wants, and she wants Xavier in her life but our story line hero is willing to sacrifice his happiness to protect Layla Ferrer. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without he use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples, as well as their expanding families. The requisite evil has many faces. CHASING VENGEANCE is a bitter-sweet finale knowing this is the last we will see of the Redemption Harbor group, a series focusing on friendships, family, security, protection and love. The premise is engaging and seductive; the characters are colorful, energetic and oft-times fun; the romance is spicy and hot. Thank you Katie for taking me along for the ride.

Katie Reus brings us the conclusion of Redemption Harbor Security with the addition of the last member of their team, Xavier, Axel's old military buddy who is also a contract killer. I've loved this journey watching the team grow and work together to keep others safe. I love the couples chemistry, the action and the suspense Katie weaves into her stories with a touch of humor. Perfection. Thank you Katie for the copy of this story for my voluntary and honest review. Layla Ferrer, Nova's foster sister that she rescued in Covert Games, is starting over in Redemption Harbor. She's a substitute school teacher and currently staying in Nova's house while she's looking for her own. She met Xavier at one of the company celebrations and they really hit it off. Xavier knows he has no business being around Layla because he's a very dangerous man and he endangers those close to him. Unfortunately he can't seem to stay away from Layla and they develop a comfortable friendship. The chemistry between them is hard to fight and eventually he gives in. Unfortunately for Layla, he's got a killer after him who wants vengeance and he's gonna make Xavier hurt by hurting his loved ones first. It doesn't take long for the crew to figure out Layla's being threatened and Xavier sticks to her like glue to keep her safe. In all honesty this is not the strongest story in the series but it brings the series to a satisfying conclusion.
