About the Author

Toni Anderson is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, RITA® nominee, science nerd, professional tourist, dog lover, gardener, mom. Originally from a small town in England, Toni studied Marine Biology at University of Liverpool (B.Sc.) and University of St. Andrews (Ph.D.) with the intention she'd never be far from the ocean. Well, that plan backfired and she ended up in the Canadian prairies with her biology professor husband, two kids, a rescue dog, and two laid-back leopard geckos. Toni started writing while pregnant with her first child and never stopped. Her greatest achievements are mastering the Tokyo subway, climbing Ben Lomond, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and surviving fourteen Winnipeg winters (fingers crossed). She loves to travel for research purposes and was lucky enough to visit the Strategic Information and Operations Center inside FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 2016, and she also got to shove another car off the road during pursuit training at the Writer's Police Academy in Wisconsin. Watch out world!

It definitely has twists and turns . The story has you on the edge of your seat and flipping the pages wanting more answers . It's such a fantastic story . So well written I felt like I was there . I'm sure my heart rate increased . The characters are great . They range from dark and deranged to loving and brilliant . Tess is a brilliant , strong , kick butt woman my favorite character in this book . Mac is a close second . He's caring , take charge true alpha hero . What a reminder that hate comes in many different forms, and can inhabit those we would never suspect…. Never has a book been so aptly named, as the malevolence permeating this story will sent a chill up your spine like no other! Tess Fallon was born into a white supremacist cult, but even as a young girl she didn’t belong in that world. When a Federal raid left her and her baby brother orphans, the two were adopted by a single woman and raised to be loving and inclusive. As Tess became an accountant and strove to eradicate her family’s legacy, that past seems to come back with a vengeance. As the anniversary of her father’s death approaches, someone is murdering people in the DC area who are in the news and are people of diversity. Who is trying to bring David Hines and the Pioneers hate-driven agenda back to the fore? And is her younger brother involved? Whoa, this is one intense story! And sadly, one that in this day and age can be just too realistic. Ms. Anderson has written a plot inhabited with characters both noble and evil; it is a tale filled with hate, love, betrayal and loyalty, sometimes inhabiting the same characters, depending on which side you are viewing them from! FBI Agent Steve McKenzie saw the Pioneers up close and personal when he was a new officer working undercover at their compound years ago. He protected Tess then, and that bond continues to link them. As the two of them reconnect after all those years to figure out who is resurrecting the anti-government, white nationalist agenda of the Pioneers, the crimes and tension ratchet up. The mystery was excellent and kept me guessing until the end. The romance was real and a touch gritty, much like Mac himself. Our FBI agent hero here was rough around the edges, but like Tess I too fell for him. As always, this author delivers a powerful, well-written, engrossing novel!

She survived the nightmare of growing up with hate and bigotry of her father, Now 20 years on the anniversary, someone carrying out evil crimes, and Tess wonders, is her baby brother involved. Mac from that time protected her, now with ASAC she thought long dead. Now the two working together, will the evil overpower them. A darker side, I don’t care for, but do like her books. They have good descriptive plot and flow easily to the end. All of her books can be read separately. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

I have read everything by Toni Anderson and this book by far was the most addictive. I couldn't put it down once I started. The write was exciting, fresh and the banter was perfectly paced not slowing down the story but coming naturally from the characters. Toni Anderson as an ability to give the readers everything they need with such detail it will send chills down their backs. Each characters feels are express to the point readers will feel Tess pain and heartache. Readers will cry when she cries and celebrate when she celebrates. The story came to an abrupt end and I wasn't ready to say good bye to this story. I wanted and almost needed more of Mac and Tess and the white supremacist who were hiding away ready to strike! This by far is one of the best in the Cold Justice series and if you have read any than you know that is a feat. The Cold Justice series only get better and better with each book. Thank you to Netgalley and Toni Anderson for a chance to review this well written story that will keep readers on their toes dying for more.

Tess is the daughter and survivor of a White supremacist leader, her one ray of darkness was a cowboy called Kenny Travers... Mac is an FBI lifer, his ambition is to be a special agent in charge by the age of 40...aged 39 is self imposed deadline is running out...but will he see that being so successful at work is not all it is cracked up to be on a personal level... I have read a few of the Cold Justice books and once again Toni Anderson does not disappoint. A romance and thriller all rolled in to one. The history of Tess is fascinating, and guessing who the bad guys are really does keep you guessing. Mac is the usual bull-headed alpha but eventually he sees the light and the HEA can proceed.
