This is simple southern cooking at its best. Christy's recipes remind me of the kinds of recipes I grew up on and continue to cook for my family. I love to cook and on the weekends I enjoy more complicated and time consuming recipes and even sometimes tackle a gourmet recipe. During the work week I come home exhausted and just want to prepare a simple but filling recipe and this book gives me lots of those. I like that there are slow cooker options for many recipes included in this book too. There's nothing like coming home to a meal already prepared or mostly prepared and ready to dig into. If you enjoy reading your cookbooks as I do you'll also enjoy the little stories and inspirational messages Christy includes making this book a must have if you love making good food. Speaking of making good food, do you know the difference between baking soda and baking powder? Or how long raw eggs will last in your refrigerator? What is resting time? What is even the proper temperature to cook chicken? If you don’t know the answer to even one of these questions, I’d also recommend that you buy a copy of Conquer Your Kitchen… from Chef Jai Scovers, bestselling author of The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution and don’t forget about her companion cookbook, Simple, Healthy and Delicious. In “Conquer Your Kitchen,” you will discover over 100 surprising kitchen secrets that will save you valuable time and money. Including…why you should always start every meal with a pot of cold water, how to cook the perfect pasta, rice and/or potatoes every time, and even, how to deal with the “picky” or “light” eater in your family! The charts for food storage are worth the costs of the book alone. Who knew that you should never defrost meat on a counter top? Where Chef Jai tells you to do it makes a lot of sense! In Simple, Healthy & Delicious, Chef Jai Scovers reveals just some of her favorite, most satisfying and delicious recipes, often with a healthy twist, quick meal ideas and helpful cooking tips that will help you reach and maintain your healthy weight loss goal and still provide real, wholesome meals that your entire family can enjoy at any time! Including Lemon Shallot Scallops, the Ham & Herb Cheese and the Pound Cake French Toast. I highly recommend all three books, even if you have to borrow the last two from your local library!

Come Home to Supper is a family-friendly cookbook with recipes that everyone, from little children to adults, will love. I love that the recipes do not call for "out of this world" ingredients. You can find all of these ingredients at your local grocery store and do not have to go searching. These recipes are also budget friendly- which is a great thing! With a section in the back of recipes for homemade ingredients, you have the option to go the short-cut route and used canned items or you can make them from scratch and the recipe is right there. Also included in this book are many short stories that will warm your heart and encouraging quotes throughout. This book is sure to become a family favorite and one that you turn to time and time again. I'm sure it won't be long before many of these cookbooks look old and ragged just because they have been uses so many times. But that's a good thing! If you want a cookbook that's family-friendly, this is the one for you! *I received a copy of this book from Workman Publishing for an honest review.*

I liked this book a lot mostly because the recipes are down to earth & don't require some exotic ingredients or hard to find spices. I found several new dishes that I will try.

She focuses on making things easier for her readers by offering differing ways to cook in the same recipe, i.e. slow cooker versus oven.
