About the Author

Sarah has traveled extensively throughout her life, living in other cultures, sometimes in areas where electricity was a concept awaiting fruition and a book was an extreme luxury. While she could easily adjust to the lack of electricity, living without the comfort of a good book was intolerable. To fill the void, she bought pencil and paper and sketched out her own story. In the process, Sarah discovered the joy of writing.

Sarah writes what she loves to read; fast paced stories with vivid dialogue, intense emotion and well developed characters. Her attention to detail in her stories has earned her multiple awards and a reserved spot on Keeper shelves everywhere.

Sarah writes for Harlequin HQN, Berkley HEAT and Berkley SENSATION.

Very Disappointing. I read many other books by Sarah McCarty and was looking forward to this series. I loved the basic plot, evil Coalition trying to find the secret to immortality. By using the innocent granddaughter of one of their members as bait, they were able to capture a Chosen/vampire, Dusan, and take samples from him. Problem is, most of the interesting parts were glanced over or covered in the first couple of chapters. After that, it was all sex between Eden and Dusan, and him controlling her through sex. And having Eden need to drink not only Dusan's blood, but also semen in order to live?... That's where they lost me. This woman has been through a year of hell after saving his life, torture, experiments, brutality, starvation, forced pregnancy using the samples from Dusan, imprisonment... She arrives on his mountain sick, still bleeding from a C-section, trying to get their daughter to him so she could be safe. And all he does is tell her she's his destined mate, has to obey him in all things, all but forces her to have oral sex with him, telling her she will die without it, pierces her intimately without her consent, with a ... oh by the way so sorry about the past year of hell, thought you were dead, I'll do better next time... kind of attitude. Alpha male is one thing, but he was abusive. I liked the female characters in the book, Eden and Marlika. But did not like any of the male characters. Sarah's Promises and Wild series are much better. I hope she writes more of them soon. The men and women in Promises and Wild were much better developed characters. I doubt I will be buying any more of this series, unless she does one about Marlika. Which brings up another part I didn't like... Why is it that male werewolves can live forever even if they don't find their mates, but female ones die after 100 years? No wonder they are dying out and having problems having children if their females have a death sentence. I usually like paranormal stories, but this one was disappointing.

Really enjoyed this version of vampiric society, the Chosen. The relationship between Eden and Deuce is believable. Her  attempts to protect him and Jalina seem a natural byproduct of her upbringing at the same time the source of her clashes with Deuce's dominant nature. The Chosen and the Others have a very different culture from human society which emerges in bits and pieces, presumably to bd further  developed in future books. If you like paranormal romance with d/s undertones you will love this. Good read, looking for the next in this series with great anticipation

The beginning was interesting and kept me flipping. The heroine has a different way of thinking. I just couldn't follow with my imagination.

I am very happy to see you are feeling better. This book was even better than I thought. I didn't think I wanted this series (Hells Eight) being my start with them. I had the surprise of my reading life with this one. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Where is Brodan' mate. How can he hold her. When will she show up? Will she be aware of the part she played in book one? Will she remember anything? I am looking forward to the next one. Great suspence, great conflict, great story. I got a little confused with the name of the male lead's name, but even that didn't slow my need to know more.

While the heroine drove me mad with sarcasm the heros reluctance to lose held me captive. I look forward to more of these series
