New York attorney and baseball fanatic Harry Kramer is browsing through a used bookstore when he makes a valuable discovery: a rare baseball scorecard from the 1920s that has been signed by three of the sport’s greatest players. In an uncharacteristic move, Harry steals the scorecard and slips away undetected. But when his conscience gets the best of him, he tries to return the card—and stumbles upon an argument between the store owner and a dangerous-looking stranger. When the bookstore goes up in flames just hours later, Harry suspects nefarious forces are at work. With the help of lovely Maggie Parker, he sets out to return the card to its previous owner and in the process uncovers a bloody trail of theft, deceit, and corruption. About the Author

BF Monachino was born and raised in Saskatchewan,
Canada. She studied law at the University of Saskatchewan,
Saskatoon, and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree. She
practiced law in private law firms and as in-house counsel for
several years with various Canadian and American corporations,
as well as working in international business. She is admitted
to practice before the courts of California and New York and
owns her own consulting firm, TIPS Management, LLC. As an
attorney her expertise is in intellectual property law; she has
advised technology, telecommunication, e-commerce and event

As a collector of baseball books ( approx.1100 currently ) as well as mystery books, I was very interested in reading this novel. I have around 140 baseball mysteries in my collection and this one definitely deserves to be included. The author comes across as a witty, intelligent writer with believable characters you care about. There is a lot of foreshadowing of the plot throughout the book and it is a real page turner from beginning to end. With a lot of plot twists and many villains involved

Being a fan of both mysteries/thrillers and baseball history, I was eager to read this novel after seeing a book review in my local newspaper. The plot was interesting and fast-paced. Overall an easy, enjoyable read and I hope the author continues to develop as a writer.
