Coping Skills by Jerica MacMillian is another homerun of a book for the Players of Maryville University series. I absolutely fell in love with Elena and Daniel, the relationship starts as a summer romance fling with Daniel wanting more and Elena having to go back to her super stressful life. When her life gets to be too much she seeks out a distraction from her life and finds Daniel again. Jerica MacMillian has gone above and beyond with this series, making me fall in love with her style of writing and her characters. This series has been such a treat to read and I can’t wait to see where this series continues.
Coping Skills (Players of Maycliff University Book 5 by Jerica Macmillan is the fifth book in her Players of Maycliff University series. These books can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you reading this series from the beginning. Each installment of this series just keeps getting better and each one is fast becoming a favorite. This author's writing style is such that it will pull you in from the first word and keep you there until the end. Her attention to details make the story true to life and just pop off the pages. Her characters are connectable and lovable. They will take you on a roller coaster ride of various emotions. They will pull you into their world and make you feel like you are right there with them. This is the story of Elena and Daniel. Elena is just a normal college student who has had to balance her life. Her family is a little complicated when he father had a tragic car accident that has left him with a brain injury. She meets Daniel one summer on a surf trip and the summer ended. Now he is ready to pick up where they left off. When they reconnect, she is in a lot of emotional pain. He is determined to see her better, so he attempts to pull her from her stress. She has built up some walls that he will need to take down. Are the walls stronger then what he thinks, will it end before it even starts? Elena is a character that is heart broken and barely has the desired to continue at Maycliff. Daniel is patient with her and really just wants to help her heal. Together they have such chemistry. They make such a great couple that I kept hoping they would find their HEA. Will she push him away one to many times? I really did enjoy these two. He has such a big heart, he is a big jock but yet not stuck on himself. She just needed a distraction from her stress and he happens to be it but how far will they go? I also enjoyed the secondary characters and I hope that some of them will continue to show up in future installments of this series. It was great getting to see Elena and Daniel's story. I highly recommend this story. I know you are going to want to see what happens to this couple as they start of journey of building and taking down walls.
I received this book for a voluntary, honest, and non incentivized review. I really enjoyed this book. It's the first in the series that I've read, but it's book five in the Players of Marycliff university series. I do wish I read the first four books in the series so I knew all the characters better, but it's not necessary. Elena and Daniel are such a wonderful couple. They have a great connection and are relateable. I also thought the secondary characters were wonderfully written. I can't wait to read the other books in the series!
