Fans of #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh’s scorching Breed series first met Cassie as a little girl in Elizabeth’s Wolf. Now Cassie has finally come into her own as a young woman, and she’s about to discover the one she is destined for—but it is unclear whether her fate is to be mated for life, or marked for death…

The Breeds are humans altered before conception with the DNA of the predators of Earth. But although they all carry the genetic material of beasts within them, Cassandra Sinclair stands apart. A unique mix of wolf, coyote and human, she is revered by many—but preyed upon by others. She is fiercely protected by her community…but no one manages to stop her when she slips away one day to offer her body in exchange for her sister’s safety.

The man she succumbs to surprises her by unleashing her inner animal in ways she never dreamed possible—and provokes her deep, furious rage. To Cassie’s shock, he is the mate she has long awaited. She may never be able to forgive his deception. Still, as dangerous enemies track her, and as the threat of all-out war between Breeds and the humans who despise them hovers in the air, they must join forces and hold fast to each other.

But the passionate union between them holds a potential that could change the world—and some will do anything to stop it…

This has been an extremely long awaited book. She could have built up their back story so much more. One or two paragraphs about the past 6 years of interaction, but pages upon pages of the hero telling the reader his feelings. Don't tell us, show us. I want to feel the chemistry and see the build up. Adding in even little snippets of their interactions would have rounded out their relationship so much more and his little betrayals would have hit so much more. Maybe I set myself up for failure because I've been looking forward to this story for over a decade. Maybe I expected too much. This could have been so much more. This was the story to go all out for, this was the book to not cut back pages and background on. I like Dog, I've always rooted for him and Cassie. It would have been nice to see more of their relationship.

The cost is too high for the actual number of story pages.

Cross Breed is the long awaited story of grown-up Cassie Sinclair. Action packed, in all the right ways, this is a quick read that will leave you panting for more. Cassie's story, perhaps, isn't as lengthy as other breeds. I personally suspect that is due, at least in part, to the fact that she has cameo appearances in so many other stories. I would like to see a follow up, deep dive, for some of the more established characters in this world. It would be nice to check in with Dash and Elizabeth Sinclair. On a side note, I would wholly support a world timeline complete with which characters are featured in each book (Similar to what Christine Feehan provides for her Dark series). After all, with this many books anyone would need a world map, so to speak.

I had a few questions answered but was surprised the story lacked energy and interesting dialog. Didn't feel the sparks between them. Don't get me wrong I love lora Liegh Liegh and the Breed series obsessively. I expected to learn more about Cassie, dog and his team. Her loner status left much to be desired and it affected the witty interaction and action sequences.

After waiting all this time for Cassie's story this was a real let down. With little to no story of how their relationship grew from the beginning a weak plot with weird gaps, this felt like the author just didn't care to make much of an effort. The last four books have been disappointing. I think I'm done with this series.

Too short for the cost of the book. Mercury was an excellent book and over 300 pages. However, loved it! Just wished it were longer.

Definitely not this authors best. It felt like the book had no start but rather jumped right to the middle. I absolutely love this author, but this book was a disappointment. Cassie and Dog could have had a great story. This wasn’t it. Seems it was just rushed out.

I have "watched" Cassie grow up in the Breed universe and was so looking forward to this book. While I liked the choice of her mate, I was so disappointed with the book. Very poor writing; more like lazy writing. There were A LOT of unanswered questions as it kept flipping between events. I have noticed a pattern lately with her books and I am sorry to say it isn't getting better. I think I am done reading her books. Surprised at so many good reviews. Not even close to her best work. Read her older books. So much more to them.

$12.99 for an ebook is waaayyyy too much. Love the series but the author has priced me out. I will wait for a used copy, and guess what? That means no royalty for Sands.

I am so glad to see Cassie finally get her story. Even though I enjoyed it, I expected more detail. The plot was simple. That being said it was easy to see its just one chapter of the story. I cant wait for the next. I've read every breed story and will continue to do so.

I love the Breed Series and I’ve been waiting a long time to read Cassie’s story! I enjoy trying reading about who mates who in this series. I wish it was a Netflix series! It would be better than some of that other stuff. I look forward to the others!

I have been waiting forever for Cassie’s story and hugely disappointed. There were so many teasers in the other books. I was expecting a love story but instead I got disconnected characters

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I own most of the Breed books in paperback! I will own this one too! The cover is another awesome one! Love Cassie!! This is the 23rd book in the Breed series. This series is for adults only due to the steamy content. I have long loved and read this series. I will eventually need to go back and re-read them to write reviews because I read them before I realize I should write reviews. Lora Leigh is one of the reasons I fell in love with shifter books. I love reading her books, and my mom and grandma also read her books. We all have collections of her books. This story is Cassie Sinclair’s story. She has been a fixed in most books because she knows things others don’t. We have watched her grow up in their books, and now she has been claimed by her mate. So much awesomeness about this book! We learned so many things, and these are things that you will not learn from me because I won’t spoil the adventure for someone else. You definitely want to read it though because you learn so many things that you may have wondered about, and so many other things that I didn’t see coming! Lora Leigh weaves an amazing story that had me from page 1! I can’t wait to see what happens next to my favorite characters in one of my favorite worlds! I highly recommend to any fan of the Breeds because once you are hooked you just can’t stop, and if you haven’t read this series and you love shifters, you will want to read them all!

I’ve been waiting a long time for Cassie’s book and I think it was worth the wait Lora Leigh really out did herself with this one and I cannot wait for Cassie’s sisters book... and to learn more about who the mysterious little girl is and why she is so important.
