About the Author

Kirk R. Johnson is the Sant Director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History. This book is so cool, I couldn't put it down- what terrific art, what a neato mosquito story. Man, do I wish my son and I could take a trip like these guys did

I purchased this book after viewing the traveling exhibit of the same name in Gainesville, FL. I fell in love with this book, the wonderful humor of the author and the way it made me want to go back out west with a tent and a hammer. (I am an adult). When my grandchildren are old enough, I will be reading and discussing this wonderful tome with them. The artwork, as expected, is beyond the pale; the commentary riveting. I want to go back to school to be a geologist!! Learning while enjoying is the ultimate high; this book provides both. BUY it, you won't be disappointed.
