Connor had to get help for his momma. Mr. O had hurt them both bad this time but they still got away. And Connor was determined that he would never catch them again. Now if only he could get to the clinic to get some medicine they could move on.

At seventeen, Charlotte or Charlie to her friends was tossed out of her home because she’d gotten ‘soiled’ her mother said. A slut like her didn’t need to be around her good friends from the church. Charlie didn’t care, she had Connor and that’s all that mattered. Until one night a man decided that he wanted her. When he took her then five year old son hostage, she had no choice but to move in with him. Over the next few years she and Connor lived in horror.

Damon just wanted to go to dinner with his brothers and celebrate his birthday. When a call from the lobby where his practice was came to tell him about a runaway, he simply let Morgan handle it. That was until an urgent call with her sobbing brought him to her. The little boy had been beaten and badly. And his momma he told Dr. Damon ‘was way worser’.

Charlie had no trust for the handsome doctor and the tight knit family. But no matter how hard she tried to not get close to them, they pulled both her and her son into their hearts. She was so afraid that when Mr. O found them he’d hurt the Grant Brothers as well.

What she didn’t expect was just how much the love of one man could do for you and the help of a family, especially one like the Grants could be so loving.

About the Author

I woke up one morning and decided to give play time to the people in my head who were keeping me awake. Little did I know that they would be so relentless and want their time right now! I wrote for the pure joy of it and to entertain my family and friends. But mostly it was to get more than an hour of sleep without a story playing out. Of course, the more I write, the more they want. So…well, as a result of sleepless days (I work through the night as a gun toting grandma – nope not a vigilantly but an armed security guard) I have lots of stories written.

Hello! My name is Kathi Barton and I’m an author. I have been married to my very best friend Sonny for at times seems several lifetimes – in a good way, honey. And together we have three wonderful children and then the ones we brought into the world - Paul and Dale Barton, Jason and Wendy Barton and Danielle and Ben Conklin. They have given us seven of the greatest treasures on Earth. They don’t live at home seven days a week! No, seriously, seven grandchildren – Gavin, Spring, Ben, Trinity, Sarah, Kelly and Kian.

I enjoyed reading Damon. In fact, I have purchased the entire Grant Brothers Series by Kathi Barton. I liked the entire series, and have since begun looking at other ebooks written by this author.

Damon is the last Grant brother who is single. However, unlike some of his brothers, he can't wait to find the woman who will love him. But as a doctor he works all the time and that leave little time for personal time. Charlotte, aka Charlie, has worked hard to try and give her son the life she always dreamed for him. However, getting pregnant and thrown out of her home at the age of 17, and now having to live under an abusive man's rule she can't give him everything she wishes. She's tried now 7 or 8 times to run away from Mr. O, and this last time she's managed to stay away from him the longest, but she's too hurt to keep moving. When Connor, Charlie's son, goes to search for some help for his momma Damon is called in and knows that he has to do whatever it takes to keep this woman and her son safe. But he's not just fighting against a man with a badge and power trip, he also has to convince Charlie that he is a trustworthy male. While I liked the idea of this book, there were quite a few things that just aggravated me and so many glaring editing errors that it distracted from the enjoyment of the story. My first issue has more to do with the fact that this family seems to have issues with having sex with their women right after they are injured. Each time one of the women has been hurt, even to the point of being in the hospital or having surgery these men can't seem to keep it in their pants and their having sex within a couple of days! I also found it a bit more unbelievable that a woman, who has been beaten so many times the way she has would find the idea of Damon bending her over his knee as attractive as she did. I also can't believe that Damon (who is a doctor) would just throw out a phrase like this to a woman he knows has been abused.

I think this was my favorite book of the series. I really liked how Damon was portrayed as the knight in shining armor. He was there for the rest of his brothers and it was time he got a HEA. I was impressed with Connor for his age he was quite the man of the house so to speak and it was hard not to fall in love with him. I am not really sure what I felt for Charlotte, at fist I couldn't understand how she let this happen to her family but realized once again Ms. Barton was introducing a hard topic into the storyline and making us aware of another problem. The family rallies quite well when called upon making for some interesting reading. I had a few problems with the storyline that were not realistic such as the first sex scene between the two characters seeming rushed, not realistic with the injuries present, and Connor's jump from child to adult comentary. However, it did not take away from the main storyline and my enjoyment. I am sad to see this series end but glad everyone got a HEA. Maybe we will get a holiday story to see how things transpired for them in the future.
