This book is beyond words the beginning seems to be a little slow but the depth of emotions and realistic and historical situations you read through the book are incredible. You fall in love with the characters whole heartedly. The end of the novel closes the door on one part of the bigger picture of the story and rips open many doors as to the possibility of what is coming next. Impatiently waiting the sequel.

Luna is a slave who is repeatedly sexually abused by her Master and then his son when he becomes the Master. Her mother is sold away from her when she is a very young child and she has no-one else. She finds her only solace in a ruined chapel on the grounds of the plantation, but even that is no longer safe. This story is truly intense. It is told from the view of a young woman who finds a journal telling the life’s story of an ancestor of hers, Luna. Through her we feel terror, horror, humor, romance, sex, safety, loss, joy, and sorrow. Each page brings new enticing information to keep pulling you into the story. Well written, this story is not for the faint of heart or for children. This story has scenes of rape, murder, demons, beating, the worst of slavery, and the best in humanity. It will make you angry, happy, sad, and get your adrenalin pulsing. I would not read it in the dark……. Unless you are very brave. I give this story 4 out of 5 clouds, and a strong parental (adult only) warning due to the violence. I have been looking for someone to make me feel close to what I feel when I read a book that was written by L.A. Banks since she passed. And do believe I may have stumbled across this author who wrote a very great book, and allowed people to read it for free! I enjoyed this read soooooooooo much I couldn't wait to check out the 2nd part of this trilogy. The only problem is, I don't see that that one was has been written(sad face). And here I was ready to actually pay for my next fix only to find out that I must wait. I truly hope that this author is coming out with the continuation of this story soon. Again, I have to say great book and I'm happy that its someone else out there that can allow me to feel a similar experience as to what I felt while reading one of my favorite authors books. Great job A D Koboah, now lets get the sell on for the next one.

I can't wait until the next one! Thanks to the author for letting me escape to a different world, for free at that! This book gave so much great detail that it wasn't hard to step into the time period in which most of the story took place.

This book was recommended several times on the shop page. So glad I took a chance. It was such an interesting story. I so look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy.

This book takes you on a journey. The characters grip your hearts, they are multi faceted, deep, good and bad. I love a good tale and this is very well done. I have been a fan of supernatural tales for many years, i love Stephen King, Dean Coontz, Anne Rice and more recently Sherrilyn Kenyon and George RR Martin. This author has a promising future and i have to say that i was very dissappointed that I cannot find another book by her/him?! Although i read this for free, I was willing to pay for the second installment! I will keep looking out for anything else from this author. Trust me you will not be dissappointed. My only comment is that at times the conversation among slaves lapsed back into too proper english and modern dialogue otherwise I was never dissappointed and you won't be either! I couldn't put it down.

I had heard such good things about this book, so I was very excited to finally read it. This was a depressing time period, and that darkness was captured well. I enjoyed Dallas's character. We don't get to see much of her, but I think I would have enjoyed the story more if she were telling it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the main character, Luna. She has had a pretty horrible life until now. I couldn't even begin to imagine it. But, she didn't seem like a very nice person at heart. Avery saved her life, and she treats him like crap through pretty much the whole book. For me, that ruined it. I'm still very intrigued by this series though, and would love to read more.
