About the Author

Mara Nieman-Hargroder… wife, mother, grandmother. Traveled with her husband to Boise, Idaho in the year 2005… New Year’s Eve… snow falling all the way during the car and van caravan drive. She and her husband decided to stay anyway. A retired interior designer… always a writer, poet to be exact she searched for her writer “brothers and sisters” in the valley. It took time but soon the creative writing evidence surged not only within her but all around.

Her roles and jobs came to a standstill when being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2015. After diagnosis, tests, and treatment a new surge rose within her. A need to hold the hands of all her sisters surviving breast cancer, as is she. Writing became a healing tool helping her to cope with her feelings… process her feelings while going through treatment. Afterwards, she continued writing notes to women who had just been diagnosed… those raw confusing days and weeks when a hand to hold can be so helpful.This current book is her endeavor to reach further into the community of survivors, her mission as part of her own healing.
