Death's Angels (Volume One of the Terrarch Chronicles) by William King

“The King of High Adventure.” Starlog.

In a world of magic and gunpowder, the half-breed Rik must rise from simple soldier to the deadliest assassin the world has ever known.

In Death's Angels, Rik and his fellow soldiers of the Seventh Infantry uncover a sinister conspiracy to waken an ancient slumbering evil. They encounter the lovely and terrible Lady Asea, immortal sorceress and ultimate manipulator of men and nations. Their deadly quest will eventually take them to the haunted city of the cannibalistic Spider God to face the hidden peril lurking there.

Death's Angels is a thrilling tale of muskets and magic blending Lovecraftian horror with adventure in the tradition of Sharpe by the bestselling creator of Gotrek and Felix.

A thousand years ago the world of Gaeia fell to the Terrarchs, cruel and beautiful alien invaders with a deadly secret. Masters of sorcery and intrigue they have ruled humanity with a fist of steel inside a glove of velvet. For a thousand years, ancient demons have slept, waiting for the moment of their return. Now the stars are right. Old and evil gods are wakening. New revolutions are being born. A genocidal war that will destroy civilization sweeps ever closer.

Born a Shadowblood, one of a clan of genetically engineered super-assassins created to serve a long dead Dark Lord, the outcast Rik must master his deadly birthright before his own lost kinfolk can kill him.

Why would you even write that you haven't read the book so you can't write a review? Are you that desperate to see your words in print? I HATE people using the review forum as a personal blog or dating service!! Anyway----this is an awesome book and series. A great fantasy with believable characters, magic and action. The plot moves quickly and you will easily find yourself losing time as you become immersed in the story. If you are a fantasy lover, you will enjoy this book and will be anxious to move on to the rest of the series. I highly recommend this series.

So refreshing to read a fantasy book with a basis in reality! The main character isn't even pre-destined to do everything of any importance in the world. Fun world, fun story, best read I've had in a long time. Thank you!

dragons, elves, halfbreed, magic, musketeers, demons. point of view from a line infantrymen with mixed blood. NOT a gentleman. I really enjoyed this book.

It took me a couple of chapters to really get into the story. I enjoyed it, even though it is a tad predictable. While the author tried to give you some backstory to explain things, there isn't enough to make sense of what is happening some of time. A little rough, a few typos, but overall a good story.

As the first book of any new series (if thats what it is) is good. Had good character development and you were able to get a feel for some of the things that they struggle with. Much appreciated book, the vulgarity wasn't for me but all the same a great read.

Well written book that I very much enjoyed. It started a little quick, with a lot of names thrown at you kind of quick, but it settled in nicely. It wasn't your usual adolescent or "coming of age" fantasy in that all the characters were actually adults. It kept me turning the pages and interested in reading future installments.

Very slow start for me to get into this book, but finally got hooked and then had to finish it. Enjoyed the characters and found the story to be very good once things started to heat up and get moving.

Great world building and characters in a series about humans with 18th century technology under immortal overlords. Part Michael Moorcock, part Lovecraft, this fantasy series is great fun.
