Tarr dedicates a chapter to each of Kurys' seven films in the order they were made. Each chapter provides a brief contextualizaiton of the circumstances leading to the making of the film and its relationship to autobiographical sources, analyzes the film's narrative structure and use of mise-en-scene and sound, discusses the thematic material addressed, relates the material to Kurys' authorial presence, and addresses the film's place within contemporary French cinema.
