In Divine Scales, Patricio might be an angel, but he’s definitely not angel. He yearns for the souls of evil-doers, but the families of his victims sing his praises because of a witch’s curse. The story offers an intriguing spin on the Little Mermaid fairytale, intriguing characters and a well-executed premise. Patricio is a complicated character, hard to connect with at first, but once you get to know him better, he turns out to be not as bad as one would think. Marcela starts out as your typical love-struck heroine, but once you figure out that her over-the-top obsession is due to a spell, it turns all the more intriguing. Kind of like in the Little Mermaid, she trades her tail and voice to the sea witch, in exchange for the legs she needs to walk on land. But this magic also caused the witch’s curse that enchanted her in the first place, to be broken. I can honestly say this book has one of the most original premises I’ve ever read. Angels and mermaids? That’s a first. And then the whole spin on the Little Mermaid, one of my all-time favorite fairytales (although the original always makes me cry). The writing is sublime. Both main characters are equally complex and intriguing, and the romance between them is sizzling. The drama is real here, not over-the-top exaggerated like in some romance novels. The character’s feelings sound realistic. The plot offered quite a few surprises. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romance story with plenty of fantasy elements thrown in, and heaps of creativity. When you think of the little mermaid I bet you have never pictured the story quite like this. Sexy brooding justice seeking angel prince and a warrior mermaid. Curses, witches, gods and all kinds of fantastic fantasy creatures make up this new and darkly twisted version of a classic fairytale. With every book the blood princes reveal more and more about themselves and the women that can sooth such wild beasts. This series is a must read and I for one can't wait for book five the final chapter in this twisted fairytale delight.

Hey does anyone know what the last book in this series is called? I just finished the last one and absolutely need to read the next one. There was only one mistake that I found, on page 120 something on my nook. Again if your are underage, or below sixteen years of age you really should not continue reading this series. Although, if you just so happen to be at or above that age this book is perfect for you. It has serveral twists and continuely suprises you enough that it keep you on the edge of your seat. This a very involving book that draws waiting female readers to set their gazes upon this, so that it can fulfill desired reactions. Ladies remeber to breathe as you read this, and best wishes

A lovely addition to the fantastic Blood Prince series, Divine Scales was a wonderful romance. I really liked this book. With its intriguing take on The Little Mermaid, this book was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Marcela was a lovely heroine.Without the curse affecting her judgment, she was strong-willed and a force to be reckoned with. I thought she was a very likable character. Patricio was a complicated character. At first, he had a tendency to be self-righteous and, though he might be justified in ridding the world of its most evil presences, he had a less understandable condescension of the grieving families' feelings. Hence, the curse. However, he got some much-needed kicks that forced him to rethink himself and he became a better man for it. At his heart, he was an honorable man who could be very kind and sweet when he wanted to be. I thought he was a great character. The romance was wonderful. Marcela was the perfect match for Patricio, capable of shaking some sense into him when it was necessary. And, for all his hesitance, when Patricio fell, he became utterly devoted to Marcela. And, they definitely had some chemistry between them. I thought they were a lovely couple. The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. There were a few surprises along the way, not the least of which was Patricio's ancestry. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely. The next book is, I think, the last book in the series and I can't wait to read it! Divine Scales was a wonderful fantasy romance. I really liked this lovely book. Romance lovers, this book, and the entire series, is definitely one you'll want to check out. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
