Another great read from Ann Gimpel... her story telling captivates me! Dragon shifters, witches, romance, magic, adventure, mythology, history and epic battles blend together perfectly.

DRAGON MAID is the exciting continuation of Ann Gimpel's dragon shifter series. A few weeks ago I reviewed the first story in the Dragon Lore series, TO LOVE A HIGHLAND DRAGON. While DRAGON MAID can be readable as a standalone, I'd recommend the series in order to maximize understanding and enjoyment. The story opens with the return of familiar faces. I loved seeing Lachlan and Maggie, the hero and heroine of TLaHD again, along with their third dragon-shaped wheel, Kheladin. The transition between the old guard and the new is smooth and those bridge chapters do an excellent job of connecting the two books. The author does a phenomenal job of world building, delivering an intricate mythology, interesting characters and detailed setting all wrapped up in a neat bow. There are many secondary characters but I had no trouble keeping track of the cast, something I can't always say with other series. I may have said this once before, but the regional accents are absolutely amazing. Jonathan, the hero, is bold, handsome and sexy. It was interesting seeing a powerful male witch, something I haven't encountered often. He's immediately likeable, especially given his humanity. He has vulnerability and self-doubt. I liked him better than dragon-shifter Britta/Tarika, who initially comes across as very abrasive and self-centered. The action sequences are truly spectacular. Fire-breathing dragons engaged in aerial combat, magical power blasts, and let's not forget the sizzling hot sex scenes. I only wish the story had gone on longer.

This book picks up right where the previous installment left off and hurls readers into a world of magic, action-packed scenes, a captivating romance, and a race to save the world with the help of a dragon and Mage from the past. From the first page to the last this is a read that draws you in, even if the mythos is confusing at times, and leaves you anticipating the next installment after the revelations revealed here. Jonathon has always felt unsure of himself amongst the other witches. There's always a sense of something more hidden about him though and it takes a naked Mage and dragon from the past to help him discover the truth about himself. Jonathon is endearing from the very start as he's sensitive, loyal, caring, and willing to die for the woman he comes to love. Britta is a formidable match for him as she's arrogant, overly self-assured, and demanding when she first arrives. Put in his care to help her acclimate though has a softening affect on her. After hundreds of years of just her and her dragon, she finally opens her heart to love and the support Jonathon provides. Even as their lives are in jeopardy their romance flourishes as they stand united in battling the Morrigan. Once again Ms. Gimpel has created a fast-paced and action-packed story that combines vivid world-building with a satisfying romance. The main couple from the previous installment plays a hand in the action here while the new power couple of Jonathon and Britta leave a lasting impression with their wonderful interactions and sensual romance. The conclusion of this book, and the revelation of Jonathon's true parentage, have me greatly anticipating the next installment of this entertaining paranormal series.

Another absolutely amazing book from Ann Gimpel. I loved the concept of this covert witch meeting his mate who turns out to be a dragon shifter. Dragon Maid is another book that you'll get incredibly wrapped up in. Gimpel knows how to expertly tell a story that will not only capture your attention, but whisk you away to another time and place. I loved this sequel and highly recommend this series to anyone that loves paranormal romance and fantasy.

Book 3 in this series is just as fascinating as the first 2. The characters are wonderful and I love the way we continue to meet characters from the previous books. We still have the evil trying to destroy and the characters learning the why and how's of eliminating the threat. Of course we have amazing dragons, both good and evil and we see how bonded humans and dragons can still be together but as two separate entities. Along the way the characters learn about their true selves. We have adventure, danger and love discovered with sensual sex scenes that will leave you breathless. I can't wait to read book 4 in this dragonlicous series. (less)

Received this book free for an honest review. Yes! Hold on to your hats people, 'cause things are about to get bumpy. Can I say that the turn of events are surprising, funny and sexy as hell? Why, yes... yes I can! Okay, so the Good vs. Evil battle continues and the re-acquaintance of an old friend has made my heart glad. What will become of this group of heroes and heroines? Come find out. I'm anxious to see how it ends in Dragon's Dare, the conclusion of this series.

While Dragon Maid is the third book in the Dragon Lore series, it can be read as a standalone. Though I highly suggest you read the books in the order they were written to better understand all of the characters as the "dark magic" storyline weaves through the books. Lachlan and Maggie, who were in To Love a Highland Dragon, have their storyline continued in this book too. The book ends in a soft cliffhanger with the story continuing in the next book. There is violence and hot steamy sex. Definitely 18+. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The author did a great job of describing the battle between good and evil and has well developed characters. There is a lot of history between characters that keeps you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. I was happy that I found some of the questions I had from the previous books answered in this one. It definitely kept me riveted. I look forward to reading the last book in this series. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am so totally impressed with how skilled this writer is at creating such deep and captivating characters! These dragons are just so multidimensional and this romance tale is epic! Although this is book two in a series, the storyline is immaculate and you just are compelled to read on and on! Love these characters and the complex plots this writer draws me into! This story is part of a book collaboration I was given a copy of in exchange for honest reviews.

This story is about Jonathan. He knows & he admits that he has magic but he doesn’t broadcast it. He’s more of a “closet” witch. He meets a dragon & her bond mate, Britta. As much as the dragon interests him, Britta intrigues him. She’s also a virgin maid. They team up to aid in the battle to save Earth. As she comes from an earlier time, she feels awkward & while she spends time with Jonathan she knows there’s something different about him & his magic. She knows there more to his magic than he lets on. They face fallen creatures straight out of Hell (harpies, gryphons, etc.) & are surrounded by Celtic Gods, selkies, time travel & lots of magic. Jonathan finds out that he’s the son of Arianrhod, the Virgin Goddess & Huntress, which he’s never believed. They have to seek her out for her assistance in locating his father. At which time Jonathan also finds out that he’s descended from an extremely powerful ancient mage. Jonathan must come to terms with a heaping amount of new magic along with becoming mated to Britta & her dragon. This is a wonderful story of developing self-awareness & self-discovery. The battle between good & evils keeps you glued to the story from page 1. Ann writes her characters so that you get to know them, their personalities & makes you feel like they are friends. Each character is fully developed & well written.

I was given a free copy of Dragon Maid, Dragon Lore, Book 2 by Ann Gimpel in exchange for an honest review. Dragon Maid takes up right where To Love a Highland Dragon ended. Ann’s weaves together such great stories as I am following her through her Dragon Lore series.. She makes her characters come to life with her descriptions. The story follows the interaction between dragons, their mages, mates and witches along with some Celtic gods. The dragons and gods can easily jump time so they can bring the mages and mates to find their dragons that were kidnapped by one of the Celtic gods that is out for evil and destruction. Another great read by Ann. I am looking forward to reading the last book in this Great Series.

With the Celtic Gods, of course, denying that Morrigan is their problem, Lachlan and company must find another way to rid the world of her, and her dragon shifter mages and their dragons, who are creating havoc. When Britta, and her dragon Tarika, appear at Kheladin's cave to warn them about Morrigan's "forgetting" spell, Kheladin is holding court with the witches who find dragons so fascinating. Jonathan Shea is one of those witches, a software engineer and kinda-sorta, part-time witch. When Britta/Tarika appear in the cave, Jonathan is intrigued by this lass and wants to get to know her better. When attacked, Jonathan is definitely wishing he'd paid more attention to his witch side; however, he is more powerful than he knows. With all our beloved characters joined together, Dragon's Maid is a wonderful story, filled with plenty of magical adventures, humor and heat, as we wend our way through the surprising revelations Ann Gimpel has in store for us. Definitely a must-read series! (Gifted a copy for independent review)

Celts, Gods, Maids, Dragons, Druids, Witches oh my! Absolutely could not put it down, fast paced and steamy. Excellent story with a spin on time travel. I love all the characters in this series, family drama and all. Britta and her Dragon Tarika meet their soul mate Jonathan, son of Angus and Arianrhod (must read Dragon Secrets). Britta and Tarika have come to the present to warn Lachlan and Kheladin of the impending danger to them and their new mate Maggie.(To Love a Highland Dragon) Britta surely wants to get to know the lass who stole the hearts of the 2 confirmed warriors. For when you love a Dragon shifter you love the Dragon too! When Britta sees Jonathan she wonders just what she is feeling no one has stirred her blood like this EVER. And after seeing the other dragon pairing she feels lonely can you imagine, and her dragon agrees that the pairing with Jonathan is a must do! Can they stop the Bad Dragon shifters and one way ward Celtic god? Or will the Earth be doomed to the ugly barren future? This is book 3 in this series and I am very excited to read the last and final sequence to this series.
