Sarah Carter, who goes by the pen name, Mims Murphy, meets Sage Tanner at Imaginings Publishing while he's posing for the cover of her soon-to-be-released romance novel. After being bulldozed into a coffee break with him by her publisher, an embarrassing incident makes Sarah furious, and she walks out. Of course, fate has a wonderful way of intervening in matters of the heart. Deciding she needs to write from experience, she signs up for "dude" lessons at Lazy M Dude Ranch. Imagine her chagrin when she discovers the owner of the ranch is none other than Mr. Tanner himself!

Sage Tanner works as a high fashion model to keep his ranch in the black. While posing for the cover of a romance novel, he meets the author, but ends up ticking her off, which ticks him off. How can a romance writer be such a prudish, stick-in-the-mud? A few weeks later when she shows up at his dude ranch, his anger vanishes and he's determined to change her mind about leaving.

About the Author

My perfect day: coffee shop; laptop; latte; characters demanding their stories be told; a plot that comes together; and hours to live in an alternate reality. Seriously, I have always loved reading, and now I love writing. As a preteen, I devoured Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Mysteries. When I reached my teen years, the romance genre became my favorite and that has never changed. After years of procrastinating, I tried my hand at writing and I've been doing so with a passion ever since. I have written over thirty romance novels and novellas in the genres of contemporary, contemporary western, historical western, fantasy, and paranormal. Because I hate saying goodbye to characters who have lived with me for months, I usually create a series so they can be revisited from book to book. I have also written a Young Adult novella titled "Fragile Hearts" using the pen name of Colleen Clay.

Nice little read, well written with some interesting characters! Just wish the female lead wasn't so needy, retiring, ready to jump to conclusions and run at every little bump in the road. Like most "free reads" there are several books to follow in this series. The good news is, the characters in this book finish their story and the series continues to tell the stories of characters you'll meet and come to love in this book #1. And, this western romance was good enough that I will be purchasing more from this 'Kiss' series!

A very enjoyable read and another example of Ms. Clay's extraordinary storytelling. Both main characters, Sage Tanner and Sarah Carter, have so many interesting layers to their personalities and life stories that make this contemporary western romance such a treat to read. The romantic climax depicted during the final chapter before the epilogue will bring forth a big smile and an awe filled sigh from every reader of this memorable story. This is book one in Romance on the Ranch series with no cliffhangers and can be read as a stand alone.

I enjoyed this listen loved the plot, characters, the twists, and the messes they get into. Poor Sarah cannot get a break if it wasn’t for bad luck she wouldn’t have any luck at all. At least this is the way she see it. You could have knocked her over with a feather when Sage comes riding up to rescue her. The author gives you some humor along with some serious parts. Sarah just wants life back to normal away from this overbearing man. Everyone is so kind on the ranch maybe Sage isn’t as bad as she thinks or maybe she is just out of her mind in pain. Sage isn’t too happy to have her on his ranch either. He was just going along with the ladies can’t she take a joke? Ms. Stetson narration was wonderful she gave the characters voices and emotions that you could feel. At times I felt sorry for both of them. There is no background noise or any places where it is higher or lower than it should be. You have no trouble knowing what each character is feeling the narrator gives wonderful emotion to her voice. You are never left guessing and it was easy to know who was talking. Her female voices were as good as her males. Ms. Stetson has a very strong rich voice which is smoothing. She made this a wonderful listen as she takes you through each page making you feel like you are part of the read. It was a pleasure listening to her narration. The author gives you a wonderful plot with great characters and supporting characters. Some you will love and other are just there to get your back up. She throws in a few twists to keep the book interesting. This is a short listen once it starts you are hook and before you know it the book is over leaving you wanting more. I found this to be a believable story which at times is very humorous. I am really looking forward to listening to more audios from this narrator as well as more books from the author. I feel most will enjoy this walking away with a smile.
