Dream

Here is the short story from the Rolling Stones. Murray, a prisoner condemned to death, prepares to his death penalty. He goes through the prison corridor, talks with other prisoners and the guard. He comes in the execution room and sees prison officers, newspaper reporters and lookers-on.

And here the story breaks up: the "Dream" is O. Henry's last story. He said, “I want to show the public that I can write something new - new for me, I mean - a story without slang, a straightforward dramatic plot starting treated in a way that will come nearer my idea of real story-writing”. This story is typical for O. Henry style.

It is full of dramatic effects and shocking descriptions of the death row prisoners' life. Unfortunately O. Henry didn't finish this work - he died of cirrhosis in 1910.
