Overview

Crime scene cleaner and amateur medium Sadie Novak’s ability to talk to the dead is a sure-fire way to solve crimes, but sometimes Sadie thinks she’d prefer a channel into the minds of the living instead…

While attempting to renew her relationship with on-again-off-again boyfriend Zack, Sadie discovers something that throws her romantic plans for a loop. With her love life in shambles, Sadie needs a distraction from all the drama. But sometimes, getting what you wish for isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

For the first time, the noble detective who’s repeatedly saved Sadie’s backside finds himself on the wrong end of a homicide investigation. Sadie is determined to prove that Dean Petrovich was framed for his ex-wife’s murder. But when her investigative trip to the crime scene—a luxurious day spa—puts the killer hot on her trail, Sadie will have to put all of her problems aside to keep from dropping dead…

There is a lot to like in these books. Characters are very much individuals, the plots of each story varied considerably keeping it interesting. Just enough detailed description to put me in the story without developing the urge to skip vast parts. And yet by the end of the fourth book there was a pattern developing that once noticed became annoying to the point that when it developed the same in book four as it did in book one I almost didn't purchase book five(and alas the pattern continued here)--the heroine runs about through the entire book causing mayhem and revealing deep dark unknown secrets--then in the end turns out the cops could have solved it without her, she gets knocked out by the antagonist and is rescued by the boyfriend...just once I'd like to have seen her rescue the boyfriend instead of the other way around. The author takes a strong, independent, smart and savvy character and in the last twenty pages of each book turns her into a fair maiden in need of rescue, be it by the boyfriend or ghost dad. Even when she had the means to rescue herself at her fingertips instead of letting her have the win, the boyfriend shows up to steal her thunder. Given how much effort is put into keeping the boyfriend on the sidelines until he's absolutely needed to rescue her(and yes sometimes it did feel like this was precisely why they had so many problems in their relationship) I started wondering why we needed him in those few crucial moments IN spite of that rant --Still, all in all well-written, good books but I don't think I'd buy another without a promise of change to the mold they developed in.

Rainbow growled." Ive had enough of this, Rarity!" She howled as she shot tword Nightmare Rarity. Somehow she managed to dodge. Using her powerful magic, she forced Rainbow into a puddle of, well, rainbows." Rarity! Snap out of it!" Twilight said, casting a spell. The spell was so powerful, it fixed everything. Everything but Rarity. Laughing, the Nightmare sent a wave of gray rainbows at them. It blew them away. Relizing she had knocked Spike off, she suddenly regained controll. She dived, catching Spike on her back. She set him on the ground and flew away, leaving him standing alone.
