About the Author

Since the time I could read Nancy Drew, I have wanted to write mysteries. In 2005 I attended a book signing at my local Christian bookstore. The rest, as they say, is history. There I met Colleen Coble. With prompting from my husband, I shared my dream with Colleen. Since those infamous words, I've been writing books.

In addition to writing award-winning books, I am an attorney, lecturer at a Big Ten university, active in women's ministry, and all around crazy woman. Crazy about God, my husband and my kids. I graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Huskers!), George Mason Law School. Because I had a few spare moments, I am now a graduate of Purdue University's MBA program. I cannot imagine the situation in which Ciara and David find themselves as the story begins. Finding your mentor lying in the floor of his office restroom would be shocking, especially when it looks like he is dead. They had worked together as clerks for the judge after graduating from law school, but now only see each other on opposing sides of the courtroom. How had things taken such a sad turn when they had once been so close? I appreciate that they are both Christians and want to follow God’s leading in their lives. I loved the description of the picture in David’s office of Jesus washing the feet of the tired executive. A picture like that should make a person stop and think about everything they do and say.

This is a novella, something that can be read in one sitting. I love Cara Putman's historical books and contemporary suspense books but never read a novella written by her. This novella has more of a romance plot with a tiny bit of mystery/suspense that gets resolved pretty quickly. The writing, as always, is fabulous. The ebook copy had a few grammatical errors which weren't enough to detract from the quality of the story. There was a good thread of faith throughout the story and in the lives of the main characters. Despite the novella's brevity, Ciara and David had strong and defined personalities which solidified as the story progressed. I actually read Beyond Justice before reading this novella, so I went back and read the chapters where Ciara and David (though his name is changed to Dan in Beyond Justice) make their cameo appearances. So fun to connect the dots and can't wait to read about Emilie, Caroline, Jaime, and Savannah when those future books release. I received a free copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a review or a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Dying for Love is actually a tender romantic suspense between two lawyers who discover a dying judge! David and Ciara are both strong characters. I enjoyed this prequel to Cara Putman's new series. Readers who enjoy contemporary stories will like this book. I received my e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

Dying for Love is a prequel to the new Hidden Justice series. A fun introduction to Attorneys Ciara Turner and David Evans who share a past and are always on opposite sides when they enter the courtroom. Unfortunately, they are witnesses to the death of a judge they both clerked for. Is it murder? As they navigate their way through what is perhaps a new start to their relationship, will they do what they always do…. walk away? Since this is a novella it is a quick-read but it’s packed with romance and suspense. I enjoyed this prequel and look forward to reading the next book in this series, Beyond Justice.
