I'd say 5 stars for the stories, but only 1 star for the scanning and editing. As previously mentioned, with regards to the Lensmen Series, there are numerous scanning and editing errors, some serious enough to render the affected portion of the book almost meaningless. Also, as noted, Triplanetary is the wrong version. Vortex Blaster does have some lensmen involvement, however, the version included in this  collection is missing almost 90% of the text.  I have a box set (paperbacks) of the Lensmen Series, so I could refer to the appropriate book to find missing or distorted passages.

The first thing to say is that this is the wrong version of Triplanetary - this version is the one that was serialized, which was later expanded into the Lensman series novel. The correct version can be found free as part of Project Gutenberg (this version is there too). The second thing to note is that Vortex Blaster, while set in the same universe, is not part of the formal Lensman series (and occurs between Second-Stage Lensman and Children of the Lens). The fourth Skylark novel is missing, and while I have a dead-tree copy, so it's not a big problem for me, others should be aware. The scanning, while good, could seriously have used some editing. With all its flaws, the novels are excellent and a lot of fun; the editing issues do not detract too much.

EE "Doc" Smith has long been a favorite author. These works are some of the finest of the time, visionary and highly entertaining. I only wish that the last of the Lensmen books had been included "Storm Cloud the Vortex Blaster" and I dont mean the short story. However, these are still treasures to be read time and time again..... Tails High Brothers!

There are many errors in the books contained in this text. I'm surprised that proof reading and spell checking we're not used. I still love reading this space opera.

The works of ee "doc" smith are fantastic he creates characters with skill and courage with a flavor of the old pulps. Vastly entertaining and full of epic battles. Its great to see the evolution of characters in the Lensman series. This is one of my all time favorites.
