Part One: "The Grandmother Councils" It is 1960 and Nika has returned home looking forward to a long rest. After years of non-stop travel giving museum presentations about her Ojibwa culture, she thinks her service is done. Her Herb Mother has other ideas, insisting that Nika go to a Council meeting out East where the Clan Elders will discuss the world's problems.
