Elizabeth's and her family were able to leave behind the poverty that had plagued their family for the past several years and come to the land of America. Thanks to her sister and her husband's generosity. Life seemed to be making a turn around for the better until the day they came to her home to tell her that Jon her husband had been killed at work in a freak accident.
