This is a classic retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale set in Victorian Australia. Ella and her sisters have been left deep in debt by their father. They are forced to try to successfully run a sheep ranch and sell the wool to allow them to travel to the city in an effort to meet eligible bachelors in hopes of making a good marriage. Ella is helped by their ranch hand Cal in running the ranch. He and Ella grow closer and begin to develop feelings for each other. Cal is keeping a big secret that could overcome the barrier of class that keeps them apart. Will they live happily ever after? Read and find out. This is a cute historical book that satisfies the need of an exotic historic setting, a strong heroine, and a dreamy hero. I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com.

This is the second book in the "South Landers" series. I have not read the first book yet so for me it was a stand alone book. Although after having this book, I must get the first one! Our heroine is Ella Beaufort who work on a family sheep farm in Australia. The hero is Cal Lynton who is not what he seems. Cal is trying to prove himself and goes about as a common person other than the rich aristocrat. Ella with sisters to supports doesn't know of Cal true self and thinks that they can only have a brief time together as she has to find a rich man to marry to help support them. Cal is quickly taken in by Ella but when she tells him that she can only settle for someone with money, Cal is shocked. This starts the story of how they had a lot of hard feelings and dis-trust to overcome to get to the end of their love story.

Then I realized that they are i only idiots trying to use book reviews as a social medium. If the second one was high he probably never even read the book. This author is now one of my most loved Australian authors. My first one is J D Nixon. If you have every read her you will also love this authors books. CB
