Hot, Southampton doctor, Carson Reynolds isn’t the kind of man Gemma Carr should be playing with. But his offer of a fake engagement comes with sexy, late night house calls, and despite her bad girl reputation, it’s been far too long since she’s taken two and called anyone in the morning.

When Carson sees Gemma at a charity event, he knows he has to have her. It’s been ten years since he’s had her in his arms, but that hasn’t lessened his intense need for her. To save her reputation and get his parents off his back, he makes her an offer she can’t refuse.

No. Fucking. Way.

Emergency room doctor Carson Reynolds stepped into Score, the local sports bar where the staff from Hampton General went to unwind, and nearly bit off his tongue.

Holy. Shit.

With shaky hands, he gripped his suddenly too tight collar and tugged, unable to tear his gaze from the sexy vision before him. He sucked in air, but couldn't seem to catch his breath. Am I having a fucking heart attack? At least the place was filled with doctors and nurses who could revive him if he fell face-first onto the scuffed and pitted floor.

His heart raced — okay, galloped — and roared in his ears like a runaway gurney. He briefly pinched his eyes shut, a desperate attempt to pull himself together. He opened them again, expecting her to be gone, a mere figment of his imagination, but when he found her standing there, her smile bright, a rush of excitement pulsed through him like a double shot of adrenaline.

His gaze skated over her, traveling a mile up those long slender legs that knew how to draw a man in tight and hold him down hard. Fuck me. The mid-thigh, low-cut, retro nurse uniform she wore showcased slim hips and perfect breasts that beckoned his hands, his mouth. Damn he wanted to taste her. Again.

Oh yeah, there was no mistake about it. It was her. The girl he'd spent the last ten years searching for — the same one who'd haunted his dreams so many nights. His mind rushed back to his nineteenth birthday, to the evening she and her friend had crashed the party he was throwing at his folk's beachside cottage just a few blocks from where he currently stood.

That night she'd freely given him her virginity, but not her name, and then disappeared from his life forever. Now here she stood — across the street from Hampton Gen, where he'd just taken a temporary position — in an establishment he instantly decided to make his second home.

He still hovered at the door, feet firmly planted — more like immobilized — his gaze riveted on the woman who'd blown through his world like a hurricane and left him in shambles in the aftermath. They might have only been kids at the time — two strangers who'd fucked on the pool house floor — and he'd been with his fair share of women since, but he still couldn't get the warmth of her touch, the honeyed taste of her kisses, out of his mind.

He brushed his tongue over his bottom lip, searching for remnants of her sweetness. Maybe if he had her again, just one more time, he might finally be able to get her out of his system and move on with his life.

Why did she give me her virginity, but not her name?

That question had plagued him for years. Sure he'd had a one-track mind back in the day, his cock like a heat-seeking missile with one mission. So when little Miss Sexy and Eighteen had come on to him, he reacted like any lust driven teenager would. It didn't matter that she was an outsider, a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who'd snuck into his party. She was beautiful, and warm, and she'd wanted him. Not because of who he was or what he could give her. No, all she'd asked was for him to hold her, to take her, and in turn she had given him something precious — something he had no right to claim.

Christ, he never would have taken her on the floor of the pool house like a goddamn hound had he known she was a virgin. Yeah, he was a typical nineteen-year-old at the time, but he wasn't a complete asshole. Unfortunately, by the time his cock had met with resistance, and he realized it was her first time, she'd tightened her legs around his back, lifted her hips, and pulled him in deeper.

Afterward, he'd tried to wrap her in his arms until he knew she was okay. But she'd pushed away from him, insisting she was fine — her tough armor keeping him out. With only the moonlight shining in through the small pool house window, she'd scrambled back into her clothes, fled like a cat from water, never to be heard from again.

Cheers erupted in the room, and his thoughts came rocketing back to the present. He found her in the crowd again and watched her sashay around the tables in too-high heels he assumed very few women could master. With her arms in the air, and a pair of handcuffs glinting in the overhead light as they dangled from her fingertips, the bad-girl nurse gave an extra shake to her hips as she pulled Jake Banyan — a guy Carson had grown up with — now an ER colleague, from his chair and paraded him around the room before she marched him to the bar.

What the hell was going on? Carson's mind raced to catch up. Oh, right. Tonight was the bar's yearly charity auction — that had to be the reason she was dressed in a retro nurse uniform — and the funds the hospital staff helped raise would go toward feeding the homeless. He'd seen the flyers in the doctors' lounge, but it had been a hell of a long day getting his administration work sorted out, and while he was all about donating, the event had slipped his mind.

Little Miss Sexy Nurse grabbed a microphone off the small podium. "Come on, ladies," she said, waving her hand over Jake's body like a game show host unveiling a prize, and wiggling against him suggestively. Jake, who Carson had long ago branded an arrogant asshole, went along with it, playing the women in the bidding pool like they were well-tuned instruments. Still dressed in his hospital scrubs, Jake turned toward the mahogany bar top. All in good fun, he aimed his ass at the crowd and pretended to pick something up. Thunderous claps roared in Carson's ears, and Carson found himself grinning. Better Jake than him.

Carson's sexy nurse ran her fingers over Jake's stethoscope and pressed it to her heart. She fanned her other hand in front of her face and bent one knee, her back curving seductively. Jesus, she was sexy. His cock jumped.

Shit. Down boy.

"I don't know about you ladies," she said, her voice sexy, breathless. "But Jake sure has my heart pulsing." As Jake eye-fucked her, she looked into the crowd and winked, her sassy attitude completing the bad girl package. "I think I might want to keep this naughty boy all to myself."

Like hell she would.

A wave of possessiveness Carson had no right to feel prowled through him. Tension dug into his neck as he hiked his backpack up higher on his shoulder, letting go of the door he was still clutching. As it banged shut, heads turned his way, and he forced his legs to work. He sidestepped a few tables until he found one in the corner. He eased into the seat, losing himself in the shadows, wanting nothing more than to watch her. For now. Hell, he'd been looking ten long years for her. A few more minutes weren't going to kill him. Or maybe they would, especially if she kept shaking her sweet ass like that. He shifted uncomfortably, admiring and appreciating. Lusting inappropriately.

"Fifty dollars," a middle aged woman in the crowd yelled, waving paddle number sixty-two in the air with enough enthusiasm that Jake ought to be scared. Lord knew Carson would be.

Carson's sexy nurse let her gaze travel the length of Jake and sighed. She pouted that lush mouth of hers and lifted the microphone. "As hot as you are Jake, I'm afraid that's out of my budget." She pointed to the woman with the paddle. "Let the bidding begin."

She handed off the microphone to a woman dressed in nursing scrubs. With alcohol flowing freely, the room bristled with excitement. The crowd was loud, alive, the atmosphere electric. Carson sucked it all in, feeding off the rush. It gave him his second wind, watching his sexy nurse search the crowd for her next victim.

"Thanks, Gemma," said the auctioneer, a naughty smile playing on her lips as she ran her finger along the scruff on Jake's jaw. "So what do you say, hot stuff? Are you ready to play doctor with one of these generous women, and cure everything that ails them?" She grinned at Jake and then shot a glance around the room, her gaze briefly brushing over Carson as he hovered in the shadows. "Do I hear seventy-five?" Another paddle went up. "Seventy-five," a woman yelled. But Carson couldn't think about the bidding war that was about to take place. Not when the sexy nurse was coming his way.

The din of the crowd disappeared as Carson said her name out loud, trying it out on his tongue and savoring the way it lingered on his lips. He said it again, and everything in the way it tasted, how it reverberated in his brain, had his mind careening back to the night she'd given herself to him. Too bad she'd called him Sailor Boy instead of Carson, compliments of the Nautica sweater he had given her to keep warm, he supposed. What he would have done to hear his name on her lips, to say hers in return.

He turned his attention to the woman auctioning off Jake. She was the friend who'd helped Gemma crash his party that fateful night, only to disappear into one of the upstairs bedrooms with his buddy, leaving Gemma to fend for herself. At least his friend had gotten Andy's name before she headed back to Brooklyn when the party was over. If only he'd gotten her cell number, too. Carson would have been able to track Gemma down through her. She might not have wanted to be found, but that memorable night left him needing more than just answers.

He shook his head, hardly able to believe he'd finally found the girl he'd compared every other to. Over the years, his parents had thrown dozens of woman at him, trying to marry him off to some socialite with the right pedigree, but none of those girls had ever measured up to Gemma.

Carson scrubbed his hand over his face, his gaze locked on Gemma as she worked the room. Teeth flashing in a brilliant smile, she peered into the dark corner, her confident steps slowing, more cautious as she approached. Another few steps brought her closer, into his personal space, and then all of a sudden her feet came to a halt. When their gazes clashed, her eyes went wide, like she'd seen a ghost.

He supposed she had.

She searched for the nearest chair to support herself, but her hand faltered and pushed it out of reach. As the metal legs scraped over the wood floor, Gemma sucked in a quick breath and faltered backward, her too-high heels failing her trembling legs. Before she toppled, Carson moved swiftly. He pushed from his chair and caught her in his arms.

The instant he touched her, sexual energy arced between them. Forget the emergency backup system at the hospital. With the barest of touches they could generate enough electricity to light up an entire New York block in a black out — for a solid week. He dipped his head, his mouth inches from hers. Her enticing floral scent seeped under his skin and took him back to the day he'd had her beneath him. Jesus. He drew on every ounce of strength he possessed to stop from reacquainting his lips with hers, from losing himself in the sweetness of her mouth and between her legs.

He brushed his knuckles over her warm cheek, a soft caress that brought heat to her dark, honey-flecked eyes. "Hi Gemma," he whispered, pitching his voice low, for her ears only.

For one shocked moment she just stood there, then she drew in a quick, shaky breath. "Sailor boy?" Those soft, barely there words fluttered past trembling lips and washed over his face, filling him with a need he hadn't experienced in a long time. As her voice vibrated through him, his pulse skyrocketed, his cock throbbing against his zipper. It clamored to get out, to feel her soft palms wrapped around it. Christ, he couldn't stop thinking about the ways she'd explored him that night, her hands curious, her touch urgent and needy, looking for so much from him. His blood flowed thick and heavy, and he clenched his teeth, fighting to keep himself in check. Thank fuck he wasn't wearing scrubs. He didn't need everyone in the bar knowing he was sporting the hard-on of the century.

"Yeah, it's me, but the name is Carson." She stared at him wide-eyed, her chest rising and falling erratically. "Say it," he whispered. She shook her head, like she was trying to wrap her brain around this turn of events. He touched her chin lightly, brushing his thumb over her cheek, waiting as she grounded herself in the moment. "Say it, Gemma," he repeated.

A long pause and then she murmured, "Carson." Her voice was soft, sultry, sensuously low, and it caressed his cock in the most mind-fucking ways.

"The next time you're in my bed, that's the name you're going to use."

She stiffened, but he held her tighter, not daring to let her out of his hold this time. No, this time he was damn well determined to find out who she was and why she'd given her virginity to a boy she'd didn't even know — and never intended to see again.

At first Gemma thought she was hallucinating, her mind playing vicious tricks on her this warm June evening. Then again, maybe her defunct sex life was the reason she was conjuring up images from long ago. This wasn't really happening, was it? The first boy she'd slept with was not standing before her, right?

Wrong. This was happening. Right here, right now. The hottest guy she knew was standing over her, his big, strong, competent hands wrapped around her body in a way that made her knees go weak.

Why do I have to have a thing for hands?

Mouth agape and stomach in knots, she stared at him, trying not to think about the way his fingers spread over the small of her back, his heat seeping into her skin and turning her blood to molten lava. Good God, she'd never expected to lay eyes on him again.

Sailor Boy.

What the hell was he doing in her bar? Okay, technically it wasn't her bar. Her best friend's mother, Tanya Miller, former nurse at Hampton Gen, had bought the place a few years back. Gemma was just here for a summer stint to make extra cash so she could get her jewelry business off the ground. The place mostly catered to nurses and doctors, and the last person she expected to see walking through that door was Carson — the rich boy who'd been groomed to follow in his father's footsteps and take a nice cushy corner office in his daddy's Manhattan law firm. At least, that's what she'd overheard at the party she'd crashed. Had he switched career paths?

"What are you doing here?" she finally managed to get out past the lump in her throat.

He gestured toward the door. "Summer position in the ER."

So he was a doctor.

He dipped his head, curious eyes taking in her tight uniform. "Something tells me you're not really a nurse, though."

"I'm not." Her glance moved over his face, noting the stubble on his jaw, the streaks of charcoal under perceptive eyes that looked at her far too carefully. One thing was for sure. The man needed a warm bed and a good night's sleep. He might be tired but it didn't distract from his good looks at all. In fact, it made him appear more rugged, down to earth, something more than a pampered Southampton hottie born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Even in her heels, he was tall enough that she had to tilt her head to see him, and as he hovered over her, translucent blue eyes — looking like they could see right through her — remained locked on hers, questioning. Her toes curled, but it had nothing to do with the overindulgent shoes that pinched her feet.

His hair was shorter than she remembered, more professional, but the smell of his skin was the same. Sun and sand on a warm summer day. What was it about his aroma that had her forgetting she didn't do close? That letting people in only led to heartache. Lord knew, as a child she'd seen enough 'uncles' come and go from her life that she eventually started calling all of them Skip. No need to get personal, since every one of them bailed sooner or later, abandoning her mother and leaving Gemma to clean up the mess.

Unable to help herself, she breathed in his scent and let it evoke heated memories that she'd spent ten long years trying to forget. Or remember. She could never be sure. One thing she did know — Sailor Boy, or rather Carson, was the guy who'd taken her virginity, the only guy she'd ever let close, and that wasn't something she was going to forget in a hurry.

His hard chest pressed against her, making her so very aware of him, right down to the way his zipper dug into her stomach, and the firm bulge throbbing beneath it. She swallowed, remembering the sting of his erection as she wrapped her legs around his back and pulled him deeper into her body. But the pain didn't matter. No, the only thing that mattered that night was that he'd protected her, and she'd given him the only thing she had — herself.

Smoking HOT romance by Cathryn Fox! This is the first book in the Pulse series. Dr. Carson Reynolds is known for working hard and playing hard. His reputation is well known and his mother is doing everything she can to get him to settle down with the right girl, but Carson has his own ideas on what is right for him and it is the one girl that got away ten years ago. At a charity event Gemma comes face to face with the one man that could break her heart. That night ten years ago was spectacular, but she thought she would never see Carson again. Making this deal with each other is just to get his parents off his back for a bit and protect her reputation, but it soon turns real when their feelings are involved. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

Cathryn Fox delivers a steamy fake engagement/second chance romance with a sweet story. "Engaging the Bachelor" by Cathryn Fox is book one in the "Pulse" series. This is doctor Carson Reynolds and Gemma Carr's story. Ten years ago Gemma and Carson had a one night stand without exchanging names. Carson has not been able to forget her. He has looked for her ever since. Gemma doesn't feel she is good enough for someone like Carson. Also, she keeps everyone at a distance. Gemma has her reasons for running out on Carson ten years ago and why she keeps to herself. Carson is hanging out at a bar that is holding a charity auction then he sees Gemma. Now, that he has found Gemma he is not letting her get away this time. There is an amazing chemistry between them. You will love the banter between them. Will Gemma allow her secrets and insecurities to keep them from taking a chance on true love? FYI, this story includes mature content (language steamy sex scenes). I received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Entangled Publishing. I really liked the characters and enjoyed their story. Carson is amazing. You will fall in love with him! Once Gemma slowly removes the walls she has built around her you will like her too. This story has some really hot intimate scenes, but also offers an entertaining story too.

Great book with great characters. What happens when you run into the girl from your past that you couldn't forget? Carson couldn't believe his eyes when they landed on Gemma. I liked Gemma and Carson together. They had so much chemistry and you could feel the connection between them.Things get quite steamy between these two. I liked where the story went because though they planned pretend, but you knew right away it was going to be anything, but pretend. Plus Carson is a sexy doctor what's not to like about him. I laughed and cried while reading this one. The book drew me in right away. I got emotionally invested in these characters. I have to say the epilogue was the perfect touch.

I liked this book. It was a good read with solid writing, but for me, this one didn’t quite pull me in. I did like the premise of the story but had a hard time connecting the one night stand as a kid to the unrequited love that has manifested in both Carson and Gemma. Learning about their pasts helped a bit, but for me that connection just wasn’t strong enough to keep me fully engaged with these characters. As I already said, the writing was solid and I enjoyed the banter between Carter and Gemma. Even though Carter was definitely an alpha male, the author does a great job tempering his cockiness with humor to keep him lovable. All in all, just an ok read for me on this one, but because of the writing and dialogue I will definitely be checking out some of Cathryn Fox’s other books. I received a copy of this book NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A cute (yet steamy!) fake relationship/lovers-with-a-past story! I really liked both Carson and Gemma. Her less-than-ideal upbringing has led her to believe that relationships are toxic and to be avoided--she's built up a fake "bad girl" rep to protect her heart. Carson's spent ten years searching for...something. It's not until he once again encounters the girl who gave him her virginity and then disappeared from his life as quickly as she'd entered it that he realizes what it was he'd been looking for. The reasons behind their pseudo-engagement were fairly believable, as reasons go, and of course their history makes them progressing quickly into more reasonable. It was perfectly clear to everyone but Carson and Gemma where their "fake relationship" was going to go before the book's end--they took a whole lot of super-sexy scenes to finally be convinced ;) The secondary characters--Carson's family and Gemma's BFF Alex--were enjoyable as well, and we do get a couple of glimpses of some of the other people who work at Carson's hospital that make me think this is a series to keep an eye out for. The relationship "black moment" ends up being resolved pretty quickly--actually, the whole ending of the novel is wrapped up relatively painlessly--it kind of made me want to see them work a bit harder for their HEA. Overall, though, Engaging the Bachelor was an entertaining way to spend a few hours (especially if those hours are also spent laying around in a hammock ;) Gotta love summer!) Rating: 3 1/2 stars / B- I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

2nd chances really can come true Engaging the Bachelor' by Cathryn Fox is book one in the "Pulse" line by the author. Gemma and Carson had a one night stand about 10 years ago-Gemma had given her virginity to Carson and they didn’t get to exchange names- see Gemma wasn’t even an invited guest to his party , she snuck in yet she attracted Carson , as he seduced her yet she slipped away the next morning so Carson had no way to track down his little party crasher. He fell hard and fast..10 years pass and Carson is now a doctor. He is at a bar, where they are holding this Bachelor Auction for the doctors of the local hospital and who does he see but his long lost gate crasher. Come to find out, her name is Gemma Carr and she keeps men at 50 paces away from her figuratively. Gemma lost her heart 10 years ago and didn’t know what to do after she ran off. Since then she played up her bad girl rep in order to keep men away yet that doesn’t keep Dr Carson away from her now. At the bar, they reconnect and no matter how she fights, she ends right back up in his orbit aka They end up sleeping together and his parents find them in bed together the next morning. Carson gives this lame excuse that his parents buy and then begs Gemma to please go along with it—the excuse ? He says they are engaged. Gemma is shocked and not wanting any part of the lies but Carson wants her to play along to prevent his mom from fixing him up with someone else. Their love story is truly beautiful because 2nd chances in love do not come along . The excuses that Carson makes to get Gemma to stay in his life are many yet Gemma buys it because she wants to be in his life by hook or by crook. The twists and turns in this story are good and in the end, Gemma has to make the decision does she want to let Carson in her life truly and let the past go or will she let the only man she ever loved walk out of her life for good? Can they do this pretend engagement and turn it into the real thing or will life get in the way? **I was given an ARC by the publisher in exchange for an honest review***

4.5**** The story for Carson and Gemma was hot, spicy and sensual from start to finish. I loved how they were drawn together, how persistent Carson was and how no matter how much Gemma tried/wanted to not give in, she couldn't. They really were perfect for the other. They were fun and flirty. Even the serious parts of the book were heartwarming and made you like their characters more. And the scene with Carson and his dad made me teary eyed. There was never a time in this book when I did not love Carson and Gemma. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

Ah, one of my favorite tropes: fake dating. This one does not disappoint, especially since it isn't just fake dating, but fake dating + friends with benefits. Carson and Gemma's story is almost predictable, but still gives some pleasant surprises. They have obvious chemistry, and the many sexy scenes showcase that chemistry well. Something that is always important to me is that the couple also have good chemistry emotionally and I love that this is the case for these two! This isn't a typical rich guy and other side of the tracks girl story, which I also appreciate. The bulk of the story is about building up their relationship and not that Gemma is a poor and Carson is posh. The supporting characters added some extra depth, though I don't necessarily feel that I know any of them. I would love to read more about Andy and Crystal as they both seem to be characters worth knowing! There isn't anything overly dramatic in this, but I consider that a positive. It's a great read and not without its own charm. I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. This is no way influenced my review. My opinion is my own.

Summertime in the Hamptons has never been hotter. Cathryn Fox kicks off Entangled Brazen’s Pulse series. The series centers around four couples who happen to work and/or live near Hampton General Hospital. Carson Reynolds and Gemma Carr have a history going back ten years. People often talk about the one who got away, without a question, for Carson that person was Gemma. Now a summer in the Hamptons will bring these two back together. Engaging the Bachelor is a droolworthy read, featuring a couple who knows how to pull at your heartstrings and heat up the sheets. Carson is so my kind of hero. He’s a dirty talker with a sweet caring side. Gemma is a struggling jewelry designer who has mastered the art of pretending. She likes to keep people at a distance and isn’t prepared for Carson to walk back into her life and tear down all of her walls. Engaging the Bachelor pulled me in from the very beginning. There wasn’t anything about this story I didn’t like or love. Cathryn Fox has a way of writing heroes, heroines, and books that I just can’t get enough of. I loved that the book wasn’t as predictable as I thought it was going to be. This was just a perfect read for me. The Pulse series is made up of three other books from Mari Carr, Lauren Hawkeye and Jan Meredith. If the other books in this series are half as good as this one, the Entangled Brazen has a new hit series on their hands. **Received a copy from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.**

Cathryn Fox never disappoints. While the story was 4 stars for me – the steam factor was 5 stars!! Wow – I needed to be hosed down after this one. Carson and Gemma met a decade ago for a brief one night stand encounter. Now he finds her at a charity event and knows he must have her. The premise for the fake engagement was a little extreme, but the chemistry was off the charts!! Dr. Carson Reynolds knows that he wants to unlock Gemma Carr’s secrets – especially why she loved him and left him all those years ago. Gemma is just looking to get Carson out of her system once and for all before moving on and back to her jewelry making business. The business arrangement that Carson proposes leads to complications neither of them expected and definitely feelings that weren’t planned. So Carson is extremely hot, a man who knows his way around a woman’s body, a doctor, and a defender of animals – did I mention he seems perfect?!? Gemma owns a rescue dog who makes a great secondary character. It’s good vibes all the way around. The storyline was a little typical for a fake engagement, but the steam factor more than made up for it. Received ARC from the Publisher via Net Galley

An awesome super sexy yet incredibly sweet read! I fell in love with Carson from the very beginning and the chemistry between him and Gemma jumps from the pages. This is a second chance / fake engagement story and I loved every single word of it. Great writing, pace, and characters, as expected from this author, make this one you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it.

Hot Hot Hot! This story sizzled with heat and sweetness. I fell in love in the first couple of pages with the sweet and smoking hot, Carson Reynolds and would have loved to have changed places with Gemma. His take charge attitude and sweet, tender caring ways will make your heart race, and take your breath away. The chemistry between Carson and Gemma is sizzling hot, and will leave you panting for more. This story was fantastic. I truly felt the connection these two shared. I was rooting for them from the moment their eyes connect at Score. I enjoyed their growing connection and chemistry as well as learning their history and watching them come together. They had a playfulness and flirtatiousness to them that really exploded into a lot of Hotness. Loved their connection. This is a well written fast paced, super sexy read that will leave you panting and completely captivated. Their chemistry is combustible and your fingers will feel the burn with every flip of the page. What a talent and gift Cathryn Fox has for such great narrative. I loved it. This is a must read story. Highly Recommended! Received a complimentary copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It’s the perfect set-up--until this fake engagement starts to feel a little too real… Review: It is always fun for me to read fake engagement stories because you know that they cannot keep impersonal and it is great to read the tension as they fall. This is a shorter read and the heat turns up fairly quickly between these two one time lovers. Their chemistry is potent and very exciting to read. I also liked the sweetness between the two, they are both really caring people and it was touching to read about them. The Author puts a touch of humor in her characters that I really like, some of the dialogue was making me chuckle as I was reading it. This is a single title (at least, it looks that way, or for now...) really is a stand alone with a very satisfying HEA. Great fix for when you need a little sexy romance with heart! 4Stars *I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

***ARC Provided by the publisher and NetGalley*** I enjoyed this book. That said, there was nothing great or terrible about this book and it really doesn't stand out for me in any way. Carson was fun, compassionate, and it was clear that he was attracted to Gemma for more than the short term arrangement that they worked out. Gemma was feisty and at times a little frustrating in her unwillingness to acknowledge Carson and how he felt about her, that they had more than a pretend engagement. The writing was strong, the chemistry was hot, and the characters were fun. The situation was mostly believable. It was a solid novel within the trope of fake engagements and relationships with a time limit, but there was nothing that really said "Read this before you read something else" That said, there was also nothing that said don't read this one.

Engaging the Bachelor by Cathryn Fox....The book was like watching the great movie Pretty Woman. I absolutely loved this book, Cathryn has put us in a movie setting, just press play to a wonderful Fairytale. The story is so sweet, hot scenes, loving and fun. The characters Carson and Gemma are so likeable and relatable and you end up being invested in the story. Girl from the wrong side of the tracks and the rich Prince Charming to the rescue. Cathryn is one of my favorite author of all times, so make sure you pick this one up or any book up by her. I was given a complimentary book for an honest review.

3- 3.5 stars This book took a little to get into. Carsen is a bit weak and dramatic at start and the first sex scene is very stilted. Normally at this point I would give up on the book, but Cathryn is one of my favorite authors so I kept going. The story really starts to improve as the engagement is announced. Carson and Gemma’s characters become more developed, stronger and their fake relationship starts to feel very real. You can't help but root for the two to get it together and make it officially real. Carson’s family and Gemma’s friend Andi are awesome supportive, no bs, loyal characters. They add an extra awe to the book and make it real. They bring depth to the sort. Audra is the poster girl for Villainess , you can't help but hate her and hope she breaks a heel. After getting past the first part of the story I was able to fall in love with this book and was glad I continued on reading.

When Carson Reynolds walks into the Score he swears his eyes are playing tricks on him, the woman who has been lingering in his mind for the last ten years is now standing before him, and is even more beautiful than he could have imagined she'd be. The moment their eyes connect everything they shared comes rushing back to him, like it just happened yesterday, and the spark that they shared all those years ago, is just as strong as it was then. He can feel himself being pulled backed in, and this time he's not letting her go... no matter how far she runs!! Most think Gemma Carr knows her way around a bedroom, but the truth is she isn't nearly as experienced as everyone thinks she is, she just lets people believe that about her to keep them at arms length. She doesn't do feelings or relationships, and the minute things start to drift that way she's the first one headed for the door. So, the minute Carson unexpectedly walks back into her life after ten years, and the chemistry starts to boil just as hot as it did before, she is ready to leave him in the dust. But this time Carson is prepared, and he isn't about to lose her a second time, he wants his chance with her and will go to any length to have it... Judging from the first few paragraphs of this one I knew I was about to embark on one hell of steamy literary escape, it started off on ten and just continued ramp up from there...Ms. Fox DEFINITELY turned up the heat on this one!!!! WOW!!! The moment Carson appeared on the page he caught my attention, and continued to hold it captive long after I said goodbye... and I have a feeling he continue to linger with me for a while!! Swoon!! He completely won me over his take charge attitude, smooth one liners, impeccable bedside manner, caring nature, and unwavering dedication to see to it that Gemma was taken completely taken care of... dare I say he was the perfect man! I loved meeting these two, and the their friends and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Fox has in store for all of them next!!! Loved every minute of this one!! Highly recommend you meet Dr. Carson Reynolds, the minute he waltzes into your world he is sure to have you burning up and wishing for your very own house call from the good doctor with an impeccable bedside manner!!!

I really like "engagement of convenience" romances and Engaging the Bachelor by Cathryn Fox is a steamy addition to the popular trope. This book pulled me in immediately, and the fast-paced story kept me entertained from start to finish. The two main characters, waitress and jewelry designer Gemma Carr, and ER doctor Carson Reynolds, have intense chemistry, and their relationship is complete with desire, compassion, and discovery. Ten years ago, Gemma and Carson spent one amazing night together. Now they find each other again and realize that they still have lustful feelings for one another. Since Carson's wealthy parents want him to settle down in the worst way, Gemma agrees to be his girlfriend for a few months so that they will stop pushing him to the altar with their choice for a wife. In exchange, Carson agrees to give Gemma a chunk of money for her jewelry making business. Within a very short time, they get to know each other quite well and fall in love. Their respective pasts, overbearing parents, and a conniving wanna-be wife, are only a few of the obstacles that they have to overcome in order to be together. I liked this hot and sexy story, however, I would have enjoyed it even more if there was a little more plot and a little less sex. Over the course of the story, we understand what makes both Gemma and Carson tick, and why they are so perfect for each other. They are wonderful, caring characters and I just could not get enough of them. The epilogue, is the icing on the cake. This is the first book from Entangled's new Pulse series and it can be read as a standalone. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Carson and Gemma have a HOT history. Only he never knew her name to find her. Now that he has, he never wants to let her out of his sight. Gemma is not sure if she should take a chance on Carson. They come from different worlds. How can they make it work? Well, there is always the heat between them.... Such a sweet and yet very hot story. I was impressed with the characters and the way these two light up a room should probably not be legal. The heat and sparks were everywhere! Good story and a real page turner. ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley and its publisher in exchange for an honest review.
