A.R. Von's "Envy's Curse" is a standalone read. At times it has the feel of a young adult book. Except for the sex scenes, those are decidedly not young adult. The sex scenes are very detailed, which is nice. The characters could have used a little more depth and a little more edge. They feel like teenagers not gods. The version I read had lots of formatting errors, but I'm sure that will be resolved.

No one ever knows the whole story of a persons walk through life. In this book author A.R. Von tells us her version of Medusa and Poseidon. A story before one was a ruler of the sea and the other was cursed to turn all who looked upon her to stone. It's a story of their unknown attraction and desire for each other, of malice, jealousy and betrayal. When they finally learn of their mutual feelings and act upon them, their sexual desires and love for each other is magnificent. Their actions cause great pain from those that wish them harm. I don't do spoilers so this is it. The author, as always, has given us a beautifully told story full of passion and treachery. I recommend this book to all who read stories of "what if's", of glorious sex, magnificent love, with evil and paranormal thrown in as well.

*A complimentary copy of this book was given to me by the author in exchange for this readers honest review.* I must say that this story was not at all what I was expecting. It's a full on Greek Mythology, erotic romance. I did label it as Paranormal but we are dealing with the Greek Gods...so you know, there's an unseen force at work when dealing with them. This story is basically about two souls destined to be one. Of course, there's always something or someone trying to tear that apart. Either out of jealousy, hate, or Envy. So if you're familiar with the whole Poseidon, Medusa, Athena story, then you know things do not turn out so good for Medusa or any mortal man who gazes upon her. What I liked of this story is how the author fills in the gaps of how the story came to be. It's erotic, but it's panty melting fun!! Poseidon figures out a way, through Zeus, to be with Medusa. He even loves her snakes & all.

Envy's Curse by A.R. Von 3 1/2 stars I enjoyed this book. It was a bit angsty, more so with the internal dialogue during the first half of the book. I love Greek mythology, so I am always a little drawn to stories that have a base or tie in to it. This was definitely a new twist on Medusa and Poseidon. What these two have is pretty intense chemistry. Their story is loaded with lots of intense sexual heat and steamy scenes. It felt like it started a little slow for me, not bad, just a slow build. The further I got into the book the more I liked it. Once I hit the about the half way point I didn't want to put it down, I wanted to get to the end to see how things would turn out. That was the point I felt the book got even better. With each new book I read by A.R. Von I come to appreciate her writing style more.

I really enjoyed Envy's Curse and I liked how the point of view went back and forth between Medusa and Poseidon. If I had this book in high school I might not have failed Greek Myths in English class!! The build up is slow and delicious and I found myself wishing I had a Greek god for my very own. I felt the middle was a bit long but I think that is only because I was eager to know how it would all play out!! If you like a good story with some hot sex and a happy ending then you will like Envy's Curse as much as I did!! I definitely recommend it!!

What a unique spin on these mythological characters! This story had a little bit of everything: Lust, adventure, jealousy, mystery, and some hot love scenes! Medusa was very intriguing to read because she was written far differently than she has been portrayed throughout history. I really felt for her towards the end when she was suffering through her curse. Poseidon's relentlessness when it comes to Medusa is very endearing. He will stop at nothing to get to her and will explore every possibility to try and remove her curse. It would be interesting to see a whole series by A.R. made in this way, as a play on mythology! ***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
