The Escape Club: Justice is a very, very short installment of the Escape Club series featuring Grant and Katie helping an Alexander. If you need a short, fifteen minute break, this is a great choice. You don’t have to know the characters well to enjoy this bite sized vignette. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

The Escape Club provides help to people when normal channels cannot. Grant Sullivan, a former Philadelphia police officer and his wife Katie are in the club when a young woman says there is a problem with a member of the band playing at the Escape Club, and she’s determined to solve the problem, but upon hearing what it is, Grant knows he can help and at least, defuse a potential deadly situation. ESCAPE CLUB: JUSTICE is the first official short story of this series – there had been a prequel previously released - but regardless of the length, everything is crystal clear. Ms. Black quickly sets the scene, establishes the Escape Club – both the club and the private detective agency. It takes serious writing skills to write a convincing romantic suspense in so few pages, and nothing is missing! It’s very well written, the dialogues are great, and it felt real. To top it all off, Regan Black managed to surprise me with the ending! It was unexpected, and ultimately very satisfying. I never thought a romantic suspense in short story form would work, but it really does! You do not need to read the prequel before, but it's so fabulous, you will want to: ESCAPE CLUB: JUSTICE is a very tasty treat indeed! And I can’t wait for the rest of this innovative series! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I read everything Regan Black writes. Regan is a master wordsmith, and I learn so much about writing from reading her books. Escape Club Justice is no exception. In fact Escape Club Justice is one of the most well-written short novels I've read in a long time. Let me explain what I mean. Since I'm quite a fast reader (I read 2-3 full length books a day on average), one of the frustrations I have with series books is that most of the books in a series don't have a definite, polished finished. In fact, with many writers, there's just a tease that takes you to the next book in the series. Justice, of course, took us further into the lives of Grant and Katie Sullivan, owners of the Escape Club, a place where someone in trouble can come and be helped by the various cops, agents, and military people who work there. But, what Justice does that other books don't is that it tells Rachel's story in its entirety by the end of the book. I was thrilled to see a definite, well-written end to her tale. What happens when you are raped by an acquaintance, and no one will help you? When Rachel comes into the Escape Club, she's seeking vengeance. What she finds is justice, Escape Club Style. This series is entertaining, suspenseful, and cleverly crafted. I love Regan's writing and her generosity with her fans, readers, and other writers.
