Worlds away, Guardian Chase Hawkins has finally returned to his own body after years of astral projection. His mission now that he's back: retrieve River, who is walking a dark path without even knowing it, and strip her world of the technology that has brought it to ruin.

Hawk and his team arrive on Earth only to discover that River's new computer program endangers the world all on its own. An old human virus has resurrected and mutated with a computer virus inside of Hollow Man, and it's spreading uncontrollably. Hawk is convinced it's too late to save Earth…but River isn't ready to give up hope yet.

River and Hawk find themselves on opposing sides, yet drawn together stronger than ever before. But a future with both of them in it could mean walking paths darker than either of them could ever have imagined.

About the Author

Taylor Keating is the pseudonym of writing team Catherine Verge and Paula Altenburg.

Catherine Verge

A multi published author in the romance genre under another pen name, Catherine is a wife, mom, sister, daughter, and friend. She loves dogs, sunny weather, anything chocolate (she never says no to a brownie) pizza and red wine. She has two teenagers who keep her busy with their never ending activities, and a husband who is convinced he can turn her into a mixed martial arts fan. Catherine can never find balance in her life, is always trying to find time to go to the gym, can never keep up with emails, Facebook or Twitter and tries to write page-turning books that her readers will love.

A maritime native and former financial officer, Catherine has lived all over Canada but has finally settled down in her childhood hometown with her family.

Paula Altenburg

The other half of Taylor Keating, Paula grew up in rural Nova Scotia knowing that at some point in her life she was going to be a fiction writer. Swapping Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey books with her father guaranteed she wasn't going to be the next Jane Austen, much to the dismay of her English teacher mother. A degree in Social Anthropology from the University of King's College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, again meant writing was the logical (meaning only) career path for her, although it did confirm her belief that learning is a life-long experience.
She now works in the Aerospace industry, which surprises everyone who knows her. Happily married, with two terrific sons, she continues to live in rural Nova Scotia but makes a point of traveling as much as she can. New York and Brussels are tied for her favorite cities of all time.

Half fae, River Weston is a video game designer on the run from a virus that already tried to wipe out Earth. With Earth raging with war, corruption, and all out chaos, she returns home to find her parents brutally murdered and her brother traumatized and all alone. Even worse, she might be to blame for the virus as she created the hologram program it's linked to. Biding her time below the streets with a local street gang known as the Demons, her time is devoted to helping her brother cope, keeping him safe and her new fae-magic infused program Hollow Man, which allows its users to walk around the streets as if actually there without ever having left the sewers. She hopes this program will give the good guys an advantage all while waiting for Hawk to return, if he ever does. I don't know," he said. "About a half dozen soldiers came out of nowhere, and the leader stepped forward and didn't think twice about shooting me. I don't know what's going on, or how he knew me by name, but-" Far from Earth, Hawk has been returned to his physical body and given a new mission. His mission is to take out the Dark Lord, River, and to strip Earth of all its technology as they have been deemed unfit for such advances. When Hawk's team arrives on Earth, it is River who has unknowingly jeopardized mankind with her Hollow Man game putting River and Hawk on separate sides. Hawk thinks Earth is beyond saving while River still has hope. Will lust be enough to save humanity or with River and Hawk become sworn enemies?

FAIR GAME is a collection of fantasy, adventure, science fiction and action that will leave you breathless originally appeared on: Bookshelf Confessions First off, I never heard of Taylor Keating (where did I come from?), anyways, I'm more than amaze to know that this is just a pseudonym of two authors, Catherine Verge and Paula M. Fox, known as the Taylor Keating writing team. I hope they make another series again, I'm sure Taylor Keating will be a name, bloggers/reviewers will be talking about for a while. As for this guardian/sci-fi series, I'm a little bit disappointed that this is the third book and probably the last one, why? Because I hadn’t had the opportunity to go through the series, and even though I wasn’t really that lost, thanks to the glimpses of the past happenings and the book being the summary or wrap-up of the first two books, I just hope that I was there right in the beginning to fully be swept away by River and Hawk’s romance. But since the book started where supposedly the last one left off, it took time for me to fully comprehend where I’m at, so, as a suggestion, you might appreciate this book without the first 2, but to fully loved and understand it, you must read the books in order. This book focuses more on River, maybe there’s still a next book, don’t you think? The writing was okay, the techno-terms are easy to understand and it’s crazy to think that River’s work benefits the demons instead of helping the people; the plot is interesting and well-thought of–interweaving different genres, galaxies and planets. It’s not only the main characters that glow, each one has its own story to tell (even the smallest part), almost all of the minor ones are significant and memorable, even the antagonists played their role well (I just hope that I had MORE time to know them). River and Hawk’s love story is not instant, they faced many trials and the sexual tension was really there, it took time to grow. Keating is a master of romance, creating a romantic saga that’s not over-the-top and love scenes that will make any blush.>: D Overall, FAIR GAME is a collection of fantasy, adventure, science fiction and action that will leave you breathless and wishing that there’ll be more to come for this series! Highly Recommended!!!

On his Guardian home world after having been released from stasis Chase Hawkins is anxious to return to Earth and to River, his superiors have decided that Earth isn’t ethically ready for the technology they have, the so Chase and his team are ordered to “defuse” it, he now has to not only get to her but to explain what is going to happen. Before he leaves Chase discovers a insidious plot for Earth and a secret about River’s lineage which leads him to an uneasy alliance with the spiritual leader of the Fae, but he’ll do whatever it takes to get to her. Earth is on the brink of total destruction after pandemic, war and corrupt malevolent leaders and River is just trying to bide her time until Chase returns by protecting those she cares for, but she’s loosing this battle too when she not only has to worry about the evil military villain still pursing her but now a new virus is spreading and she’s afraid it may have something to do with the hologram program she’s created. Will Chase and River find each other and the answers to save her world or will it all be lost in the blink of an eye. The incredibly talented writing team known as Taylor Keating has done it again, blown it out of the sky with this the third in their fantasy/sci-fi/romance Guardian series. They continue to amaze this fan by the imaginative on going storyline which crosses not only genre boundaries but galaxies and planets as well. In this installment they continue the epic romantic saga of their protagonists River and Chase, who’s love for each other and righteous beliefs are stand outs, but it’s all the minor actors in their play that make the differences too from the evilest of fiends to the purest of hearts and all in between who bring the images and voices from the pages onto the screen in my mind. Her romance continues with an against all odds feel and her love scenes would brighten any dark night. But to enjoy the full scope of this series they’re best read in order.

In Fair Game, Taylor Keating finishes the Guardian series which is a brilliant mix of sci fi and fantasy. Readers were introduced to a whole new world and mythology. We followed the story of River and Hawk meeting them and learning more about their pasts and their worlds. Both are strong, developed characters in a truly unique series with a fleshed out world mythos. River and Hawk are interesting, well developed characters fighting against time to save each other and her world. This was a great wrap up to the first two books and further delves into who and what River really is. I had been looking forward to finding out more about this fantasy world and what makes these characters tick, and Taylor Keating doesn't disappoint. I’d love to see this on screen. It would make a great sci fi / paranormal movie! I heard Taylor Keating is developing a new series and can’t wait to get my hands on it. They're definitely a writing team to keep an eye on.
