As her sizzling new series continues, Jennifer Chance sparks some serious combustion between a sexy biker and a corporate go-getter who’s ready to let her hair down.
New grad Anna Richardson works hard—so hard that she’s given up having a romantic life. Anna has even convinced her friends that she’s dating an amazing guy—who they’ve simply never met. But now Anna has a wedding to attend and needs to produce the hottie she’s been lying about for the past six months. Enter Jake Flynn, her infuriating, motorcycle-riding, jaw-droppingly gorgeous neighbor, who’s more than willing to fake it for a weekend. In fact, Jake won’t be satisfied until things get real.
Though Jake is only playing the role of adoring boyfriend, he’s starting to feel the heat, and judging by Anna’s sweet blush, so is she. Letting chemistry this intense go to waste would be a real shame. Soon, though, the thin line between fantasy and reality fades. Jake may not be what every buttoned-up fast-tracker wants, but he’s sure as hell what Anna needs. And if she takes a ride with him, their adventure never has to end.

Right off the bat the heroine, Anna was driving me insane. Where do authors find these chicks? My third note says, “She’s a moron.” Not a good start for our dear Anna. But then again, she didn’t have a good ending either (I’ll get there), but basically she’s all over the place. Anna is looking for a date to her friends wedding, but once she gets one she apparently doesn’t want one anymore. When/where exactly did she think she was going to find another date on such short notice? I don’t know. I would think the golden goose (ie – hot dude) falls into your lap offering to do it, you take him up on that. I guess I just had a hard time connecting to Anna. I couldn’t figure out who she was. Was she someone sexually comfortable with herself or unaware of her appeal? Her characteristics seemed to bend depending on what the scene required. She allows some “edits” to her dream man, but then holds rigid to other parts without a real explanation of why. It just didn’t add up to me. The arc I received was an uncorrected proof so I can only hope that there will be another rounds of edits made before this book goes live. There were quite a few instances where the heroine’s name was incorrect. It does get better as the book goes on, but hopefully you won’t even notice because they will be corrected. Around 40% things started to pick up for me, but then we’re thrown from one emotion to the next. 48 hours into this fake date and she loves him?? I’m ok with speedy relationships, but this just didn’t flow with me. And then even in the end Jake had to talk her into the relationship.. a lot. She allows everyone to pressure her and ultimately it felt as if she was pressured into the relationship. I wanted her to take it, grab on and not let go, jump right in. That kind of thing. Fake It would have been a solid 3.5 book for me, but the ending just left me unsatisfied. Not only did Anna have to be talked into finally entering a relationship with Jake, but the book is 99% complete before she does it. Anna spent the entire book committed to staying her course, then at the last page she does a 180 degree personality flip. I just don’t see this couple working out long term at all. I think Fake It had a great story line with some good ideas, but ultimately the execution was a little lacking for me. I received an arc in exchange for an honest review

5 star The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well I was kept interested. This is Anna and Jake’s story. Anna needs a date to her friend’s wedding. Jake is a biker and a really nice guy. With him living down the street he is close and she is safe with him. Will spending time with Jake make her question all she has given up for her job? Or will she let her demanding ex and job push him away before she can keep him? I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Anna Richardson is so busy working and building a life after college, that there is no room for men. After her bad breakup with her ex - she just doesn't see the point in wasting time on the effort. A made up boyfriend is just the answer at times like these. Until there is a wedding to attend, that is. Now - the boyfriend she made up has to make an appearance - what to do? Should she kill him off? Should he have to work? Should he get a terrible illness? Should she find someone to play him? Yes! She will hire someone....so she goes to the local watering hole and finds.... Jake Flynn, her neighbor. Her very hot, motorcycle-riding neighbor. He is not what she wants "Charlie" to be. He is not calm enough, corporate enough, or average enough to keep her hormones under control. She has already noticed him on her walks past his home. Could she really stand to go to a wedding and share a room with him? Jake gets the whole tale out of her and they start to become friends. He then talks her into taking him to the wedding (she has no time to find someone else.) While there, Jake and Anna find they have more in common than she originally thought. Problem now? Her ex-boyfriend wants her back and tries to sever Jake and Anna's budding relationship! So much laughter and tears - it is a true Jennifer Chance novel, after all. Jake ends up fighting for Anna.... but is it enough? Can she take the man at his word and give fun a try? Is love worth it? I enjoyed reading the 2nd installment of Rule Breakers series. It was very hard to put down and an awesome companion to the first book, ROCK IT.

So, I droned through the first 90 pages or so, had to skip to the last two chapters, hoping to get an exciting ending..... yep, still boring. I even skimmed around through the middle trying to find something interesting. Seriously, corporate job talk, blah, blah, blah. I get the reader was supposed to understand the heroine is a workaholic and she is trying to "keep up with the Jones'" in the business world. Yet, when you have the heroine yammering on and on, plus her snotty "friends" and everyone trying to one-up. Boring. Annoying. Who cares. The problem is, this is a romance genre book and romance sat in the back of the bus. I hate leaving bad reviews because I love books but I also felt like I needed to throw a warning to other readers. Especially, when the cover of the book is a hot shirtless guy. If you think you are getting a steamy, chemistry filled romance, prepare for disappointment.

Kept my interest easily, but not as well written as some of her other reads.
