Series: Red Stone Security #3 After years, Mara finally thought she could move on with her life and find happiness with her new husband, Harrison. But an enemy from her past has landed in Miami, determined to ruin Mara's life the same why he believes she ruined his. He'll stop at nothing to hurt her and Mara knows the only way to protect those she loves is to disappear. Harrison can tell his wife is keeping secrets and he's well aware he doesn't know everything about her past, but lately she's seemed distant in a way she's never been before. He's never questioned his wife's trust but when he finds out she's running away he can only imagine the worst and the worst is breaking his heart. Katie Reus writes another great action packed romance, this time about Harrison and Mara who we met in No One to Trust . Now they are married but things aren't quite blissful for the newlyweds when Mara's past comes creeping back. She's kept a lot of secrets from Harrison, scared he'd never love her if knew about her former career and the things she did. A rough upbringing has taught Mara to never trust another person with everything she is and that's made it hard to open herself completely to Harrison, even though she loves him more than anything. Mara's struggle to open up was very emotional and you could tell how strongly she loved Harrison and how much it killed her to lie to him. Harrison himself was also a great character, somewhat stoic, but so deeply in love with his wife that it was beautiful. He's devastated when believes Mara is leaving him and it strains their relationship for a bit but they eventually work through things. It obvious that neither one wants to give up on the marriage but they're both confronting personal demons not to mention fighting a real life enemy. I especially the loved the chemistry between these two and they spent plenty of pages burning up the sheets -- or whatever surface was close enough. Harrison is a dominant and possessive man but he's also incredibly sweet with Mara and their intimate scenes show that he might be in control in the bedroom but it's all about pleasing Mara. What more could you ask for in a guy? I'm really enjoying this series and in particular I can't wait for Travis's book. We've seen him a few times in the series and I'm very intrigued by him and all his piercing and tattoos. Content Note: human trafficking

Another nail biting, heart stopping, suspenseful , intense , edgy and sexy story in this very entertaining series by Ms Reus. This one gives us Mara Caldwell and Harrison . He was a CIA agent and now works at the Red Stone Security with his brothers. They have been married for a couple of years. But Mara has kept him in the dark about her past. Now, her past has come back to haunt her and put all those she love in danger. Will the past and her deception destroy their marriage? Will she live to know the answer to that , and if she does , can he trust her and their future. A fast pacing story that will leave you wanting to read more stories in this series. The narrator, Pyper Down does a very good job with the narration and the voices. I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Heart-pounding romantic suspense! Fatal Deception by Katie Reus is heart-pounding romantic suspense at its finest! Add in steamy bondage scenes and a villain who will make your skin crawl and I could not turn off this audio until I’d listened to every word. Red Stone Security is a high tech firm owned and operated by the Caldwell family. The first two books in this series featured the stories of Caldwell sons, Peter and Grant, both former marines. Fatal Deception is the story of another Caldwell son - former CIA agent Harrison Caldwell, and his wife, Mara Caldwell. It picks up right where the former book, Danger Next Door, ended. In the previous two books, there have been several mentions about Harrison’s and Mara’s marriage experiencing issues. In Fatal Deception, their marriage troubles come to a head as Mara’s past returns to haunt her like a barreling freight train. Since Harrison and Mara are already married, there is no need for relationship development so Katie is able to jump right into their story. Mara has finally found happiness with Harrison. But, she has a past with MI6 that she has kept from Harrison. She mistakenly believes that he’s safer not knowing. While at MI6, she helped convict a very bad man. Now that man has escaped from prison and found Mara. He is determined to make Mara and everyone she loves suffer before he kills her. Mara is one kickass heroine. She is strong and more than capable of defending herself, but has difficulty trusting others . Her husband is ex-CIA and Red Stone Security’s business is protection. Mara should be smart enough to know that those close to her were in more danger from not knowing what they were facing. Harrison is a domineering presence who requires submission in the bedroom. Ooh la la! Their bedroom scene is hot, hot, hot! He loves Mara and is clueless as to why their marriage is in trouble. He knows she is concealing something, but has no idea what she’s hiding. Fatal Deception is the third book in Katie’s Red Stone Security romantic suspense series. Even though it is the third installment and there are interconnected characters with the previous books, it can easily be read as a standalone if that is your preference. Indeed, I have read the series out-of-order and do not feel that doing so has impacted my enjoyment of the series. Pyper Down is the narrator for Fatal Deception and for three other books in this series (the 1st, 2nd and the 5th). She has a clear voice that is easy to follow. Her voices – especially her male voices - sound genuine and are consistent throughout. Simply put, Pyper Down’s performance makes the story come alive. Katie is one of my favorite authors. Fatal Deception is an enjoyable listen from the first through to the last. If you enjoy well-plotted stories of passionate romance paired with steadily building thrilling suspense and packed with excitement and non-stop action, I’d encourage you to add Fatal Deception to your must-read-soon list. ## FABULOUS. Mara and Harrison had amazing chemistry. I adored this story. It was a tad short with 110 pages but it didn't feel lacking. Nice job Katie.

Mara Caldwell has finally found happiness. She's married to a man she loves with all her heart. Her past with MI6 is buried or so she thinks. Now the monster she helped convict has escaped and wants her dead. Her secrets have come back to haunt her. Will Harrison still want her if he knows the truth? Does she have the strength to leave him? The Red Stone Security Series is filled with strong characters, passionate romance and plenty of suspense. Mara is such a strong, compassionate woman. I love that she had the strength and courage to stand up for her self. She and Harrison are the perfect couple. They are fiercely loyal and protective of those they care about. This plot flowed smoothly and the suspense kept building. As always I enjoyed when characters from previous Red Stone books make an appearance. I'm addicted to this series and to the writing of Katie Reus. What fun it was to listen to Fatal Deception as an audiobook! Pyper Down made the story come alive with her narration.

Another 5-star rating for Katie Reus' book. . . Fatal Deception is a great addition to the series. Passion, deception, intrigue, suspense, action, drama. . . What more can you ask for? Harrison's and Mara's story is one you wouldn't want to put down until the last page.

This is a good read, enough to recommend. Good style of writing, but nothing too compelling to keep you up until the wee hours. Good steady pace and characters kept at a minimal so that a good connection was made. I hate when too many people are introduced, I lose track of who they are and lose that connection. Read this book, you will like it.

This is the third book in the Red Stone Security Series, but the first I have read. I felt you could read the installment without the others and still follow the storyline. I will however be reading the first two since I enjoyed this book. At first Mara (the main female character) seems sweet, honest and willing to help anyone in need, especially the women at the shelter she volunteers at. She has a past that is coming back to haunt her. Harrison (Mara’s husband) works in the family business and feels her pulling away from him in their marriage. He follows her one day to find her at a place she shouldn’t be, and hopes she confides in him, but that doesn’t happen. The excitement begins with Mara’s past and Harrison learns his wife isn’t just a pretty face.

I really enjoy this series!

I've read all three in this trilogy and the second is the best one. This book ties up a few questions i had from first two but Mara was a little too flawed for my tastes. Maybe I just don't have a clear picture of an undercover agent's life but marriages don't succeed with secrets THAT big.

This book was unexpected for me. This being the first in this series that I've read I had no idea what to expect and found myself sucked in from page one. Mara distances herself from her husband because of a secret from her past that is coming back for her. Her husband, Harrison, is no stranger to danger but the last place he expected it to show up was his doorstep because of his wife. Can they survive the danger and can their marriage survive her secrets and lies? Will their impenetrable passion and love be their cure? The characters are very like able and easy to connect to and the authors writing style makes this book thoroughly enjoyable. I will definitely be reading the other two books in this series and look forward to more to come from this author. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a little action and a lot of steam.
