Fear, Folly & Freud: A Psychotherapist in Psychoanalysis
Feeling psychologically stuck, author Nicola Mendenhall ventured into what turned out to be Freudian Analysis--which is the study of what the patient does not want to know and resists mightily. She was well into a decade of analysis before she realized how counter-productive, actually funny, her attitudes and behavior were. Readers are given access to the unconscious as it presents itself to the author and often can figure out what is going within her on before the author does.

About the Author

When I think about what I've included in my first book, Fear, Folly & Freud, I tremble. Everyone is going to have access to the embarrassing interpretations my psychoanalyst developed just for me. My friends, family, and former clients will now know all my shortcomings, the ridiculous patterns in my thinking, my narcissistic characteristics. My stubbornness. What have I done?

Then I put my tongue on the roof of my mouth and pull air into my lungs and remind myself why I wrote this book. How I wanted others to know that going within with the intention of changing your way of being in the world demands courage, risk, and learning to trust love in a form that you have never known, if you were raised as I was, in your entire life.

I believe Freudian psychoanalysis, impractical, expensive, and difficult to find may be the answer that you are looking for.
