Interesting premise but lost something in the execution. Zach is kidnapped and psychologically and physically tortured and degraded for 5 years, from age 15 - 20. On his return, his very rich family tries to stabilize and reintegrate him. The one person he really wants to meet again, but who freaks him out, is his first crush, David. Gradually Zach and DAvid reconnect. There were parts of the book that really didn't work for me but I read it from beginning to end, and it made me think, so that works, I just don't know how often I would reread it.

Great love story.  Difficult getting it all together after Zach returns from being a prisoner for 5 years,   and not just a prisoner, but a used sex toy.        Zach  has a lot of work to do to recover from his terrible ordeal.   But the love of his life stays with him helping  him heal.       J////////

Wow - this was a hard read when they talk about what Zach went through while being kidnapped but the author did a great job showing his and his loved ones strength getting through it. A true love story where you felt everyone's struggle to get to the well-deserved HEA. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

This book was more than just the pain and suffering Zach endured during his years of captivity at the hands of a paramilitary group. It was the pain and suffering he had as he tried to put his life back together. It was the pain and suffering and guilt of his best friend David, whose innocent kiss started the whole ordeal. Their journey back from this to find each other again is done in fits and starts. Misunderstandings, raw emotion and continued fears cause missteps along the way. Every turn feels so realistic and gripping. Both of them had a lot of work to do to get through it, and you can help to feel for them as you continue to root for their success. It is a well-fought for HEA.
