An excellent series, and much of it touched upon, in remembrance, herein. The Indian adventure as well is thrilling and informative to boot.

Like all of Fraser's 'Flashman' books, this one can be read by itself, but is always more enjoyable when you've read the other books in the series. Quintessential Harry Flashman: Our poor (but not-to-be-pitied) hero continues to go from frying pan to fire, again and again and again. One of the most gripping and harrowing installments in the series, and also one of the most rewarding as far as the development of the Flashman character. But never fear! Old Flashy most certainly does not grow out of his wicked and self-centered ways! Exotic locals, beautiful women, and more bloodshed than would be believable if it were not based on historical events.
