For my historical fiction fix, I can never go wrong with a Shirleen Davies Western romance. Fletcher's Pride (MacLarens of Boundary Mountain 8) is an excellent example of why that is true. This is a story to get lost in. For a few hours I am back in time to where the west was truly won by people of principle and grit. The sense of community is strong in Fletcher’s and Maddy’s story. The limited options that were available to women along with the unfairness of life is also evident especially in Maddy’s life. Fletcher is just as pig headed as some other MacLaren men which is not a surprise with Maddy being just as strong, determined and resilient as many of the women that they love. Shirleen Davies gives the reader a taste of the wild west being tamed with the perils and the struggles that the pioneers endured. Fletcher’s Pride takes up where Blaine's Wager left off, yet it would still read well as a stand-alone. However, once you had met the MacLarens, I am sure you would want to get to know them all. The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this story! I don't know how some of the great authors do it, but their books just keep getting better and better! Fletcher and Maddy met in a saloon where she was working. He went out of the area to help on his brother's ranch and has no clue over the prior troubles that Maddy has had in the past and that she fears for her life and now that of their unborn child. This book is so full of action and adventure and romance all with a Western genre! I love it! Oh, I said that before ,,, It is a fantastic read, one that I didn't want to put down!
