Apprentice witch Catalina Gato is prohibited from assuming her human form in front of her new employer without his express permission. Since he doesn't know he's a warlock, he can't give it, leaving her in a familiar's limbo. To make matters worse, she's barred from leaving his house, and her attempts to enlighten him of his true nature results in burnt notes, charred walls, and exploding laptops.

On All Hallows' Eve, she gets one night of freedom. Deciding some no-strings-attached sex might take the edge off the intense attraction she feels for her clueless boss, she signs up for Madame Eve's service. When she meets her masked mystery date at the Castillo Capital, she realizes she might have gotten much more than she bargained for.

After being gifted a one-night stand from his annoying best friend, attorney Leo Difuoco reluctantly ventures to the Castillo Capital to celebrate Halloween. When he meets his oddly familiar green-eyed date in a Cat Woman costume, flames literally ignite, sparks magically fly, and life as he knows it changes forever.

About the Author

Dear Reader,

Thank you for taking a look at my paranormal series, A Witch’s Night Out. I’ve always been a huge fan of witches and warlocks, and I’ve had loads of fun creating my own. I keep my stories lighthearted, the angst to a minimum, and the sex just hot enough to make your face grow warm. In all my romances, I aim for a few laughs, handful of clever twists, and a scorching happily ever after.

In Flirting with Fire, I got to show off Washington, D.C, the place I now consider home, and drew inspiration from the legal world I dipped my toe into many moons ago. As the first genuinely nice guy I’ve written, attorney Leo Difuoco is a hero I’ll always have a soft spot for, even though I couldn’t resist letting his familiar Catalina drive him crazy.

If I’ve managed to keep a smile on your face for a few hours, then my goal as a writer is met. I love hearing from readers, so feel free to drop me a line at . You can find out more about my other books and various social media haunts at

Tara Quan's "Flirting with Fire" is the first tale in the A Witch's Night Out series. I like the mythology of the different types of magic and characters. I just love the idea that she's trapped in a cat body whenever he's around. Leo is a hawtie. I read these books out of order and it's that nice kind of related series where you can get away with that. Happy endings without going too crazy far and fast for a novella.

Such a great short story for a dreary day. Cat has a double life as a feline and as a witch. When her master dies and she is passed onto the next living relative of her masters choice her life becomes a heck of a lot more complcated. Leo has barely met his great aunt and yet she leaves him half of her house and a substantial amount of money, and the rest of the house goes to This book is a great tale of a familiar opening her new masters mind to what he is capable of. This book has a nice sex scene but the actual plot and chemistry between these two are what realy makes the book so good. Overall it was a really well written short story.

In the first of the Witch's Night Out series of novellas, we meet Cat and Leo - familiar and warlock. Cat has eighteen months left on her contract which transferred to Leo upon the death of his aunt. The only trouble is Leo doesn't realise that he is a warlock so can't say the incantation which allows Cat to become human and leave the house. In a short novella, there is a lot of information and humour. I loved the Draco Malfoy references for a start, but there are plenty to choose from. In some respects, it is a slow burner (pun intended) until they meet for their blind date and then things heat up. For a short but extremely sexy, quick-witted and humorous story, I can definitely recommend this. * I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

What I Thought: This little read came in at a flash read for me, as just over 60 pages, I was able to finish it is just over an hour. In that hour, I was entirely in the world of Flirting With Fire. Nothing else mattered.  This book has everything you would want in a romance, packed into a short read, making the emotions and adrenaline even thicker, and the experience is wonderful.  We fins ourselves in the world of the two main characters, Leo and his cat, Cat. As the pages turn, we find that this world is so much more than it seems, riddled with magic and dripping with sexual tension.  I loved the characters, for even though this was a short read, I felt that I actually knew them by the end. I felt myself craving Leo and hurting for Cat, as she struggled to come to terms and make decisions that could effect, or end, her life.  As the tension built, there were literally sparks flying, and even when they didn't you could feel them sizzling between our two characters, with the excellent writing Quan wove into the pages.  The only downside, I loved this read so much that I don't know if I can handle where it left off...I want MORE! I cannot wait until the next instalment with Leo and Cat. I sure hope it comes out soon, maybe tomorrow, yes that would be good! * This is an adult read! If you are an adult, I highly recommend purchasing this, man or woman, it is a great sizzler!*

Tara Quan has delivered a delightful Halloween themed novella in FLIRTING WITH FIRE. The premise of a sexually frustrated familiar and a warlock who doesn’t know he’s a warlock is intriguing and completely different, setting up the story for a fun read. Supporting characters are limited as per a novella but add to the story and move it along. Leo’s friend Jack Frost is my favorite. I simply loved the names in this story! I found myself wanting to read more of Cat and Leo the further into the story I got. I can only hope that Tara Quan will give us more than a glimpse into this fun duo’s story. FLIRTING WITH FIRE is a delightful read to help get you into the Halloween mood!
