Dr. John Foster and his brother, Jason, pack the van, bound for their isolated fishing cabin on an inlet of Bayou D'Arbonne Lake. John, a nationally-acclaimed petroleum and natural gas expert, is eager to break away from his workload and beat out his brother in their annual fishing challenge. Jason, a brilliant, unemployed free-spirit, is keen on the trip too, but becomes distracted from fishing after he sees a small sign along the roadside that advertises a local bar named, The Mud Hole.
Jason pays a visit to The Mud Hole and becomes a regular, picking up money at the pool table and women at the bar.
