Golden Stair (Blood Prince series Book 3) by Jennifer Blackstream

USA TODAY BESTSELLING SERIES – Demon Paranormal Romance, Book 3

When an incubus prince discovers her lonely tower, Ivy finally gets the romance and adventure she's been craving. But freedom comes with a price. Now both their lives are in danger, and there's no going home again...

Bound by a divine vow, the demon prince Adonis is forbidden from seeking the one thing he wants most--true love. Resigned to his fate, he hides his pain behind a cryptic smile and a puff of smoke, carrying on with his carnal pursuits of the flesh as his heart dies a little more with every passing lover. Then he meets a woman with the power to save him--but it will cost her her life.

Ivy has lived alone with her mother, locked away from the rest of the world, for her entire life. When a devastatingly handsome demon brings her isolation to a sudden and dramatic end, it takes only one searing kiss to shatter Ivy's world. Now she's desperate to see what else is out there, to have a life beyond the tiny existence she's led so far. But if she leaves, there will be no going home. And the demon is clear about what he can offer her...and what he can't.

An evil witch does not willingly give up the power she's spent a lifetime building, and Ivy's mother is ready to do whatever it takes to keep her daughter home. Despite the danger, Adonis and Ivy are drawn together like phoenixes to flame--and if they're not careful, they'll both burn.

About the Author

Jennifer Blackstream is a psychology enthusiast with both a B.A. and M.A. in Psychology. Her fascination with the human mind is most appeased through the study of mythology and folklore as well as any novel by Sir Terry Pratchett.

Jennifer enjoys listening to Alice Cooper, trying new recipes (to which she will add garlic whether it calls for it or not), watching television with her family, and playing with her woefully intelligent young son.

Jennifer spends most of her time drinking coffee from her X-Men mug and desperately trying to get all her ideas written down before her toddler can find that all magical button on her laptop to make all her work vanish.

So if you haven’t read the first two books of this series, each story is a retelling of the classic fairy tales, just with a supernatural twist, and some awesome writing. And I loved loved the first one, which was the werewolf meets Cinderella LOL and the second one, is Snow White, and Prince Charming is a vampire LOL and now, we’ve got Rapunzel meets Prince Incubus. HEHEHEHE I absolutely love this author’s imagination and where she is taking the stories. You still get the feel for the original tale, and yet, you love this new rendition just as much! Maybe just a little more fun and gritty!  Ivy is your Rapunzel, she has this awesome hair, and magical healing powers, and boy can she paint! And she’s so sweet, and she takes care of her mother every night when she gets home from fighting the horrible war. Except that Ivy finds out that her life is basically a lie, and the horrible war starters are the ones fighting for peace and her mother is actually her kidnapper. And she wants out. And she’s willing to fight for it. She has probably a lot to deal with all at once. She maybe hasn’t had the horrible up comings as the other ladies so far of the series, but she gets it all dumped at once. I think she handled it pretty well LOL Adonis is so easy going, and you really get to learn his secret, that he wants love, even if he can’t have it, and why he’s in the body he’s in, and why he did it. And yes, he’s an incubus, but he’s not a bad one. And he’s actually quite loyal and devoted. And I think he is just so darn cute!  This romance was a little hotter than the others, though it was still just as sweet. I think they fill each other to make the perfect fit for what the other was missing. And I LOVED the plot twist, and the story of Ivy’s “mother” and how everything came to be. And I loved that I could FEEL when they would paint. Very cool! I love everything about this series. And now, I am learning even more about the princes and their back stories, but also more about their present and their kingdoms. I’m finding that really cool because you are learning a little as you go. I absolutely cannot wait for more! 5 GOLDEN STEAMY SUNNY PAWS! :)

I will admit that I did not think I’d like Adonis. I always resist a rake, and it is usually oh so pointless. In the end, it took longer for Ivy to win me over than that charming demon. He has a lovely heart and a greater spirit, and I think she complements him quite nicely. I loved the story. I thought it was fun, it sucked me in right from the start, had some really sultry and steamy moments, and I hated tearing myself away from it to, oh I don’t know, sleep or work. Damn necessities of life. I think that my one point against the story—and unfortunately for me it was a bit big to ignore—was the reason for Adonis taking the dead body of the prince. I just don’t know; it felt a tad flat to me and I had issue feeling any real, deep emotion toward it. Don’t get me wrong, I thought that it was a grand gesture on his part, but, I still wondered “So what?” It was great for the Kingdom of Nysa, but I wanted more. In the end, the further along the series this story of the five princes progresses, the better it gets, and I can’t wait for the next installment.

I loved this book. Its a fun telling of your fairytale Rapunzel, except Rapunzel is a girl named Ivy. Ivy's prince is a Demon named Adonis. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I wish they would put how many pages are in the books before you pay for them. It's very disappointing to pay basically $4.00 for a measly 170ish pages.

With each dark and delightfully twisted retelling of a classic fairytale Jennifer writes they only get better. From werewolves and glass slippers in book one to vampires and seven dwarves in book two is it no wonder that book three of this series gives us a thillingly delicious twist to Repunzel? Fantastic writting, witty and charismatic characters, and a horny demon prince. This series is a must read!
