Ruggle’s search-and-rescue romantic suspense series sags with this slow-moving third installment (after Hold Your Breath and Fan the Flames). City slicker Ellie Price comes to the Rocky Mountains to locate her father after he phones to say he fears for his life. She’s skeptical about the threat, given her father’s history of delusions, but she hopes to help him get the medical treatment he needs. When she arrives, he’s nowhere to be found, so she begs for assistance from the local search-and-rescue team’s most accomplished wilderness guide. George Holloway is a monosyllabic, hulking character without much appeal; however, when killers begin pursuing Ellie, she finds his competence very attractive. Plunged into a small Colorado town full of violent meth dealers and thwarted rapists, Ellie finds an inner strength that helps her handle all challenges. The mystery of the headless corpse from the previous books is still unsolved, but introducing George to his first kiss and much more keeps Ellie busy and will distract readers from an uneven plot. I loved this story!! I read entire series. Kept me guessing. Tidy plot. Great characters. Dialogue was really good. Made me laugh out loud. And the action was terrific. Love scenes are heart pounding, not graphic. Very tastefully done. Would highly recommend. Kept me turning pages way too late at night. Love Katie Ruffle and I love this series. Can't wait for the next one.

Gone To Deep is Book #3 in the Search & Rescue Series. These books are best read in order but can be read as stand alone issues. George Holloway, is a loner but also a member of the Colorado Rockies Search & Rescue Team. Ellie Price goes straight to the expert, George, and wants him to lead her through the cold, deadly trail to find her missing father. Ellie is a city girl, small, fragile and full of life, the complete opposite of George who doesn't talk, and is tall as a mountain and hairy as well. A very tough country boy. But when George looks her her eyes he just can't turn her down. Ellie is determined to find her father, who has mental delusions and bring him back home with her. But a killer is on the loose and right behind them on the trail and it seems like he is bound and determined to stop these two from reaching Baxter Price who is in a cabin in a remote location. George and Ellie have the fight of their life on their hands in this deadly, cold wilderness and they find themselves falling for one another while on the run from a dangerous man out for revenge. Will the prey become victims or will they fight and win and also win each other?

This is Book 3 in the Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue series. I loved it! The first 2 books are just as good. Read from the start as there is a murder mystery that spans over the series. These books have exciting stories, strong leading ladies, hunky but smart men, romance and humor. I have enjoyed them! Cant wait for more.

I have to first comment on this cover. It is so fierce, I just adore it. He definitely looks like someone who could get you through the forest in one piece. Let's just say that I would "hug him and pet him and squeeze him and call him George"... Okay, sorry, I just had to get that out of my head. This book introduced us to Ellie Price, daughter of a friend of the HDG from book one. When she gets an odd call from her father, she decides that she really needs to check on him. Especially as he has suffered from some serious mental health issues. When she gets to town, Lou from book one, helps her to hook up with George to head into the mountains looking for her dad. The majority of this book is Ellie and George alone together. Their interactions with each other really drive the book and I especially like how they overcame the obstacles to them being together in the end. It's a good thing the books in this series has been release so close together, what with the cliffhanger endings; each one has left us with more questions that need answered. This one has quite a doozy that I totally didn't see coming and I am excited to see how things are going to turn out in the next book. Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley provided me with this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

One demure city girl is ill-prepared for the mission she is determined to undertake to rescue her mentally disturbed father who is positive someone is out to kill him. In a remote Rocky Mountain town, Ellie sticks out like a sore thumb as she attempts to find a guide willing to take her into the snow covered wilderness. Only one man can do it, a silent giant of a man who rarely uses his words to get his point across. George is a true mountain man, a loner, a gentle soul in the body of a Goliath who is none too happy to take Ellie, but without him, she will surely die within six steps into the woods. Two people as different as night and day, will face the deadly cold, deadly killers and the flames of hell together only to find the only common ground they need, love. Katie Ruggle’s Gone Too Deep stars two completely adorable characters with hearts as big as the Rockies. The gregarious and feisty Ellie and the big teddy bear, George will leave smiles on your face and a sigh in your heart, while the evil they must live through will have you grinding your teeth. And Ellie’s Dad? Guess you’ll need to read it to find out what happened to him! I received this copy from Sourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for my honest review.

Gone Too Deep is the third full book in Katie Ruggle’s Fire and Rescue series that focuses on members of the Fire and Rescue team in a small town named Simpson in Colorado. This story focuses on the largest and quietest team member named George Holloway and the petite Eleanor “Ellie” Price as they start an unlikely relationship while trying to find Ellie’s mentally ill father in the snow covered mountains. Having read all of the books in this series, including the introductory novella, I can honestly say that Katie introduces you to a quirky character in every book. This time, it’s George. He is described as a mountain of man. He also doesn’t do well in the communication department. When he agrees to be Ellie’s guide to the mountains, the locals can’t believe it. George rarely does more than grunt and shake his head. The crazy thing is that he is also a handsome man that many local women have tried to attract but he hasn’t paid any woman any attention until he meets Ellie. She brings him out of his shell and shows him what it’s like to be adored and loved. She also deflowers him. For Ellie, George shows her what it’s like to be treated with respect. He becomes her protector and does what he can to keep her out of harm’s way. That harm comes in the form of two drug dealing brothers that are following them to get to Ellie’s father Baxter. Note that Baxter has information regarding a murder that is mentioned in the first book and is referenced throughout the series. It was fun to watch Ellie and George interact. It was the clash of the city girl and the lumberjack. Despite the serious nature of their journey, they fall in love and evolve while doing so. The local townspeople continue to add their own comic relief while the mystery behind Baxter’s disappearance casts a shadow on some unlikely villains. I hope that the next book in the series wraps things up in a nice bow. **Received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest unbiased review.**

Gone Too Deep continues the underlying storyline about who killed the headless man found in the first book, Hold Your Breath. Baxter Price, Ellie's father, calls his daughter out of the blue rambling about people being after him. Her father has a history of mental illness, and Ellie is concerned that he may become lost or hurt in the Colorado wilderness, unable to take care of himself. She leaves work in Chicago and travels to Simpson, Colorado to try to find him. She enlists the aid of George Holloway, a member of Search and Rescue to take her on a three day hike through the wilderness to her grandfathers cabin. As this book started, and chatty, city girl, Ellie gets a begrudging non speaker, George to help her, I wonder how the author will progress their relationship. I know opposites attract, and George may be a muscley, mountainous man, but he barely speaks! However, Katie Ruggle was very clever with her writing, and created a language out of his grunts that Ellie understood perfectly, and she became the readers interpreter in what would have been a very one sided conversation. His conversational skills may have been somewhat lacking, but his shy sideways glances and slight quirk to his lips, drew the reader in. His lack of experience was also part of his charm, and I could easily see why Ellie would find him fascinating. As they travel through the wilderness, Ellie and George begin to discover that her father's schizophrenic ramblings may have a large element of truth, and a large portion of the mystery of the headless man is revealed. Even as the status of their relationship becomes resolved in this novel, we will have to wait for the next novel to get a conclusion to the mystery, or at least another chunk of it solved. I have really enjoyed this writers style, and the unusual, different kind of characters that live in Simpson. If this town were real, and I was single, I would make a bee-line path directly to this place! After the mystery was solved, of course. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca, through NetGalley, for my honest review.

I really enjoyed Goerge and Ellie's story. It was a unique story and fun to read. I was worried I wasn't going to love George, much like I didn't love Rory in book two, but that wasn't the case. Their story had more to do with the original cliffhanger than book two. And in turn, ended on a HUGE cliffhanger. One I saw coming but hoped would happen. I can't wait for the fourth and final book.

This is the type of novel that when you start reading it you can’t stop. It led to some very rewarding, yet sleepless, nights. I love how this story ties into the series as a whole yet also stands out on its own. Ruggle has woven an absolutely unforgettable tale that had me on pins and needles throughout. The plot was intense and well crafted. The suspense permeated every page yet never overshadowed the romance and chemistry that we find between the main characters. I loved the differences between our hero and heroine and how they seem to balance one another. The strong, silent, and drool-worthyness of George had me swooning while Ellie’s bubbly, caring nature shook things up. The way that they were able to seamlessly work together made the story even better. Oh, and their chemistry? Something we’d all kill for in our everyday lives, yet also very believable. And you can’t forget the supporting cast. Lou is still priceless. Everyone that you meet (or reencounter from past novels) becomes a fast friend. This story was excitingly suspenseful. It was everything that a romantic suspense should be. Ruggle is quickly becoming a go-to for romantic suspense. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Gone Too Deep by Katie Ruggle is the 3rd book in her Search and Rescue series. Each one of these stories could read very well as a standalone; however there is a continuing storyline about a murder. With that said, it is best you read this series from the start, in order to understand. Ellie Price, our heroine, receives a call from her estranged father, who has mental issues. He tells her he is going away to hide, as his life is in danger. Despite his telling her to not look for him, Ellie decides to go to the Colorado Rockies to look for him. She meets Lou and Callum, our first book heroes, which was nice to see them again. Lou will be the one to introduce Ellie to George. George Holloway, our hero, is somewhat of a loner, who rarely talks. But George is a member of the Search and Rescue team, and is considered the best survivalist and guide. He will reluctantly agree to help Ellie find her father, and they will head out in treacherous weather. Unbeknownst to them, two men are following them, in hopes of also finding Ellie’s father, whom they want to kill. The trek to the cabin where she suspects her father is hiding turns out to be one disaster after another; snow, danger and violence, as the men catch up with them, as well as an avalanche. At the start of their adventure, George only spoke a word here and there, but he did watch over Ellie, saving her a few times. Slowly, Ellie begins to get him to open up more, and starts falling for George, who is a hot mountain of a man. It is a slow build romance that is very sweet, and fun to see George slowly change, as he too is falling for Ellie. There was a lot of excitement and danger, with fights with the two dangerous men. When Ellie and George finally find her father, together they will have to fight off the evil again and again. We learn near the end of the book who is really behind the murder, but it is still a secret for everyone else. This will lead the way to the next book, Safe Hands, where hopefully we will get a resolution. Gone Too Deep was an exciting adventure, with a bit of everything throughout. George and Ellie were great together, both being totally different, but had us rooting hard for them. I did find some parts were a bit slow, but overall, it was a great and fun read.

When the hunt for a family member takes Ellie Price deep into the remote Rocky Mountains, will she make it out alive after finding herself in the crosshairs of some dangerous men? George Holloway is a socially awkward loner, but he’s the best survival expert that Search and Rescue has. He doesn’t want to take city girl Ellie Price into the mountains, but when she looks at him with those big, dark eyes, he can deny her nothing! Ellie is determined to do anything she can to find her father! When desperate times draw them closer, will George and El be able to go their separate ways when this is all over?

Gone Too Deep by Katie Ruggle is the best one yet in this series. (I think I say that every time I read a book in this series. LOL!) I got sucked into the story from the first chapter and finished it in one day. George Holloway is a lumberjack/mountain man and totally bowled over by Ellie Price. Even though Ellie is a city girl she was fiercely determined to find her father and with George guiding her she knew she could do it. They were an unusual couple but it worked. Action, suspense, plenty of twists in the plot to keep a reader guessing and some beautiful sexy times with George and Ellie. And the end - all I could say was "WOW! I did not see that coming." I can hardly wait to read in the next book in this series. I want to thank Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder... George Holloway has spent his life alone, exploring the treacherous beauty of the Colorado Rockies. He's the best survival expert Search and Rescue has, which makes him the obvious choice to lead Ellie Price through deadly terrain to find her missing father. There's just one problem-Ellie's everything George isn't. She's a city girl, charming, gregarious, delicate, small. And when she looks up at him with those big, dark eyes, he swears he would tear the world apart to keep her safe. With a killer on the loose, he may have no choice. Ellie's determined to find her father no matter the cost. But as she and her gorgeous mountain of a guide fight their way through an unforgiving wilderness, they find themselves in the crosshairs of a dangerous man in search of revenge. And they are now his prey... My Thoughts George Holloway as part of the Search & Rescue team has been something of a mystery so far in the previous books. A man apart whose loner nature makes residents of Simpson and his teammates curious and his gorgeous face and physique a magnet for the ladies. George however does not respond to their overtures no matter how alluring the woman is, until vivacious Ellie Price lands in town hellbent on finding her mentally ill Father. Ellie was just a child the last time she saw her Father, his inability to cope with reality caused her Mother to leave taking her and starting over without him. Now years later she has made a life in Chicago where she works in a trendy boutique and shares her Condo with her employer as roommate. When out of the blue Ellie gets a frantic phone call from her Father her world changes again when she leaves the city for Simpson Colorado, where winter is bitter and the journey ahead of her to find him is daunting. From the breathtakingly described Colorado wilderness to the exhilarating joy of Ellie breaking George out of his shell add the tension when on the trek from Simpson to find her Father they encounter trouble and you have a Romantic Suspense that never stops delivering on it's promise. That is until the abrupt ending which reveals the totally unexpected villain and then the story is over. A cliffhanger of sorts but yet answers the readers question of who but not completely why.
